gamingnews 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 What we all have to do is think logically here. A lot of people say stuff like "Dell is a bad computer go with HP" Or"I hate alienware go with a dell" or similar comments. but what these people probably dont realize is that they both have the same insides! you can look at two computer brands like HP and DELL you may be getting the same exact specs but you're paying $1500 for one and $500 for the other. Your buying the name! Go with the one you like best not what other people say is the best.Ok ill get off of my soap box now
doranp20 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 thats a very hard choice Dell has the best service and will not let you down if something happensalienware is unbeliveabe but i dont know about their sercive i say dell
alperuzi 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2005 Dude, this is like comparing a Fiat to a Ferrari (or Corvette to Cavaliar depending on where you are). Now Dell also has gaming systems, fine, but you really cannot compare one company to the other. One is the worlds largest supplier of PCs and the other is a well known supplier of specialist machines, what else can we say?
kopakuxi 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 I'd really have to agree with buscuitrat and alperuzi. first of all you don't get the same specs (most of the time) with diff manufacturers and dell and alienware are two completely different animals. as far as a computer comparision would probably go....dell (even in there xps-gaming-rig) has partnerships with various suppliers, and they "customize" the boards to have specialized software (i.e. bios) to run the boards. on the other hand, alienware which may rewrite the bios and have partnerships, markets their rigs for POWER USERS and yes are very expensive when compared to a dell (xps is pretty expenzive though). basically, as in life you pay for what you get. now as far as macs go....well i'm not a fan so i'm not gonna say a whole lot except for this: apple recently announced that they are gonna start using pc chipsets and processors in their computers....WHY??? cause -no offense mac fans- they are gettin the crap beat out of them in raw horsepower. don't get me wrong they have awesome software. :::kopakuxi:::
jerrylili 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 OKhi dudes, for the next 10 mintues i will explain in my way which is better for what. The Dells are for people with not that much money and whom done't play that much games, if you do on your dell, and it actually can handel it it my melt down. Dells are uslayy for application uses only, and they did go into the gameing industry with there rip off- XPS seris, seriously thats a rip off off of your panties. Dells are good for homework and other simple and low heat work, no big graphics. and they are cheap make in USA, but support is in INDIA. IF you want simple application and cimple games, and internet serfing DELL is the way to go with cheap prices and good perfomecen. BUT if you are heavy on games and video processing, you need to get a alienware. Dude, you're getting an alienware. (put that in your bon and smoke it)(he's in jail)Alienwares are really powerful, well, somepeople my say.... WHY i configures an alienware and a Dell to teh same sepcs but teh alienware is 300$ more!!!??? WTH??? well alienware uses good compontents, unlike DELL, which is waht keeps there prices rock bottem. yeah Alienware useus good motherbaords, hardirves and small thibngs like that but could mean big prices. Alienwares are very powerful for gaming they have teh Sli opption to boost you Half life 2 game to 100fps DAMN! yeah, thats expansive though, they also have the new alienware water cooling system which is teh altimite in cooling you machine, so you won't liiterly melt down you prcossor. that sucks. But i say alienware are teh better you can get a really good one for $1500 that reasoable. you lknow. and they are considered small bussniess compared to Dell so quality is good.Alienware if you want power.yeah there, thats 10 min.cya at teh party, jeery
malish 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 I would say alienware charge more but they also combine more gamer features and provide better style of your pc.

Servant2Work4God 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 Dell vs. Alienware? Alienware hands down. To use Dell's site and custom build a pc similar to Alienware can't even be done to my knowledge... I do however have to agree with everyone in that Alienware is also one of the most expensive, which is of course why you don't pay full retail for it, you buy on eBay, Yahoo Auctions, or uBid and get it for near wholesale pricing.I do also agree with TimothyA in that if you are able to build a pc yourself, go with Newegg.com. I've personally ordered their products and they were very good to me.One other recommendation which I don't brag about, but does exist, is that you can go to Wal-Mart and get their eMachine, not the $500 one, but the $600 one and it is actually a decent computer, if your not doing intense gaming of course. shady772 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2005 Get Alienware. I have a dell and its caused me nothing but problems. A blue screen comes up for NO reason sometimes. It also periodically freezes. I am not satisfied with this computer. TIme for a upgrade?
cjm771 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2005 Own a dell and I want an alienware. Why? Becaue it is far more superior and I'm a gamer. I'm going to college soon, and for those of you that don't know, the laptops are more of desktop replacements because their bulky and weigh over 9 lbs! But the sentia looks really light and sometimes on specific sale days, is only $999. Very affordable and of course, it looks very nice. I am either going to get a sentia or ibook, but I imagine a 499 notebook from dell will be lacking somewhat in performance heh. I have a dell desktop 2400 and its ok, but slow compared to my mini mac. So, I dont know, dells are ok, but there are a whole lot better computers.

alperuzi 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2005 well yeah, it would be odd to have 30 odd neon green alien-like cases on a middle school lab.

[i]_R_Crazy_Idiot 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 To be honest, it would be much more economical to build your own computer, and the Dell Xps' aren't to shabby. If you don't know how to build your own computer, I'm sure there are guides on this forum and around the interweb.
