T100 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2005 This is exactly the same problem I had with my previous hard disk before it finally failed. I got event ID7, 9 as well as 51 and soon I lost the partition. The warnings that you have on the event log are highly indicative that the "health" of your hard disk is rapidly deteriorating. You should back up your hard disk as soon as possible (usually you are ahead the ultimate failure by a few days), though you may find the back-uping process painstakingly slow. Then you should unmount your hard disk and ask for a replacement. The agent will then do a surface test on the hard disk and I think they can find the bad sectors on the disk. rvalkass 5 Report post Posted July 22, 2005 I agree. I've seen it all before and it looks like your hard drive is about to fail. Back up all of your data onto DVD, CD or any removable media to hand, even if the drive is going extremely slowly.However, I would try making sure the hard drive is seated and secured properly in your case, and all cables are secured, as I know a guy who went out and bought himself a new drive, only to realise the old one worked fine, but a cable was loose. Also, make sure the case itself is on a hard surface and not wobbling, as this can cause a mechanical failure of the disk. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
