Ubutu

Recommended Posts

Ubuntu is designed to end users and tries to be more friendly than other distros. It is based on debian and has some problems with that. Those problems start when you try to use some multimedia packages like mplayer. Some multimedia programs are considered as non-free by debian, so when you try to install them you need to use a repository different to the stardard one's and have to edit the sources.list manually. That is sometimes annoying to end users.Other thing is Ubuntu is sponsored by a private company and has a lot of paid publicity over the internet that makes they popular. But, for me, better is debian. Maybe Ubuntu is the starting path to a pure debian instalation.Just, some opinions on the topic.Cheers.
