nonon 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 Hi,I've got a very slow machine (Duron 1.3gh with 384mb ram) and i constantly need to tune up this thing. Defragmenting the hard drive is one way up, but the software that comes with XP sucks since it doesn't provide a COMPLETLY FULL deframentation.Now i'm looking for diskeeper lite, but i don't know any other free software that could help me out with this.In your opinion which is the best defragmenter freeware avaiable today?ThanksNonon Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
dontmaimyourself 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2005 I have to admit that I still use the Defragmenter that came with Windows XP, but I dont use it that often, I do however think that it is serverly lacking in the features it offers ( its also mega slow). But on a side note I found (what I consider to be) a very good Defragmenter that will defragment stuff like the Pagefile, hiberfill.sys , and the registry... if you would like to try it out the website is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ They do have a range of other cool programs. kevinparsons 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2005 It is really difficult to get set up with the right programs to keep your computer top notch. I got about 10 programs that I run to remove junk, spyware, registry errors, defrag, etc. I use the defrager that comes with system mechanic 5. You could also try norton system works.
