Personally I don't care what people do. Marriage is a man-made thing, based on everyone's own ideas of right and wrong. To say ones own opinion is wrong, that is an unfair comment. To say their opinion is right, that's just a matter of personal opinion again, and it may not be considered completely correct.

I almost hate to say it, but it's already aloud here! and I say this shamefully, my cousin "ties the knot" in those types of marriages. I'm not completely against it, as long as they stay the hell away from me, but lesbians, get closer! :D

My son is gay...... of course he should be allowed to marry the partner he loves ....

he has the same human rights as any heterosexual .... I'm always amused when people bring religion into this debate.... it seems to me that the bible is open to so many "personal" interpretations that it nullifies its relevance in 21st century morality..... xx

I don't see as why not. The Bible may make some reference to a man and a woman in a holy whatever, so there should be a non-religious marriage ceremony available. This would be helpful for the agnostics and atheists out there.People who are homophobics are just shut up in their narrow minds.And why are some people scared of homosexuals anyway? I am not a *person*, but I disagree with them being outcasted by society

Yes, I think there's nothing wrong with gay marriage. Who cares? If gay people love each other enough to get married, just bloody well let them, I say. So a guy and a guy get married, no big deal. That's the way they are. There've been studies that show being gay is something one is born with. Thus, it's something gay people can hardly help, isn't it? People who get so agravated over it and are so strongly against it just bother me. Just let things be.

Of course, yes. If we are talking about and adult couple, I don?t mind what sex they are. They?re supposed to want to marry because they love each other, so for me it?s enough. It?s not about the Church or christianity... we don?t have to mix this with religious issues. We have to live with things that we don?t like... we have to tolerate and if christian people is offended, well, I think it?s their problem.

Ha, I'm weird. Yes, I think that gay marrage SHOULD be allowed. Everyone has the right to get married to who ever they want to, regardless of gender. Who cares about the bible (sorry, not religious). It's not even real. So, like I said, everyone has their own rights and gay marrages should be allowed.

I think that gay marriage not must be allowed.To my opinion i think it is disgusting.The gays don't get a child so , the generation will not grow further and that is not good so think I.All right I am not against gays.But a marriage that goes to far.What could I guy see in a boy ? I don't understand that can someboyd tell me that ?

Yes, the Bible does say homosexuality is a sin (read Romans chapter 1) and punishable by death. All sin however is guilty of death and what homosexuals need isn't monitoring of their sins since they can never be good enough to reach Heaven just as none of us can, we all fall short of the requirements by God. What they need is to be forgiven of their sins by admitting they are wrong, without which no one will reach the Father-only by Jesus Christ.

 

At the same time, there is no excuse for a Christian to be a homosexual since we are freed from the lusts and sins which once enslaved us to them once we are crucified with Christ and born again.

 

Fornication is the only sin that can be against a Christian's body the temple of the Holy Ghost.

 

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?


As for the Bible being open to interpretation, please show me one thing not involving prophecy and how you think it is open to interpretation.

 

A perfect society would outlaw homosexual marriage but our society is not perfect because its rulers are not perfect, they can't even ensure the right people get put on death row. This is why there will never be a perfect government before Christ comes to govern, a perfect government must have a perfect ruler.

 

Without, you simply have the situation of the Pharisees, those who are sinners also, wanting to stone other sinners. Only God is just, only God can administer justice justly.

This is going to be long.  I have gay friends and acquaintances but for some reasons I'm not really in favor of gay marriages.  I'm a contemporary Catholic but in a way I am still a bit conservative.  I don't mean to offend anyone but sometimes I still cringe at seeing people of different sexes being affectionate with each other in public.  I accept that there are gay people and it's not their fault that they are what they are but somehow they have a bit of contribution.  Sometimes they (I know a few) tend to encourage their feelings by browsing through websites (often times pornographic) that are into same-sex activities. 

 

I accept same-sex relationships, really I do.  But the marriage bit I'm a bit uncomfortable.  My idea of marriage is coupled with religion and procreation and not only partnership.  I blame it on my country and its conservative ways.  I just feel like if two people should get married they should consider what others would feel.  Some might say to hell with others' opinions but I think they really count.  If these two people want peace then they should stay together but not get married, at least not yet and not in my country, unless they wan't prying eyes to be all over them... 

 

Again, I'm not deliberately trying to offend people...this is just my opinion.  Don't hate me.  :P

You have a right to your own opinion, but can I ask you a simple question, you claim you are fine with gay relationships just not with marriage, you claim that it is because you believe marriage is tied up with relegion, you also state that people getting married should care what others think. Let me ask you a series of questions to demonstrate the falacies of thes claims:

 

1) Let's take two people who love each other very much and have lived together for 7 years, they decide to get married. Do you object? (Intentionally left out heterosexuality or homosexuality, and even the sex of the couple)

 

2) Marriage is tied to relegion only in recent times, marriage predates christianity. Is a mormon (one who believes in poligamy) who marries 7 wifes married to each of those wives?

 

3) Lets say my family does not like my wife because she has red hair, should I then not marry her, after all my entire family doesn't like her.

I'm going to say "No". That is not because i'm homophobic or anything.

 

Marriage is a religeous ceremony, which has been taught by the bible. The bible also states that homosexuality is a god-declared sin. Isn't going against the whole concept of marriage totally contriversial?

 

I do not disagree with homosexuality, since it has been proven many times by science that homosexuallity is not just a wild choice, its a choice made subconciously, which nobody can help.

What I DO disagree with is going against the concept and marriage, and then blasphomously calling it "marriage".

 

I'm quite sure that there's other ways and ceremonies of declaring loyalty and bonding of people of the same sex. There's no need, in this day in age, to go against religeous teachings.

First off marriage is a religeous and civil ceremony, meaning both the church and the state are allowed to perform marriages. Secondly several churches have expressed support of gay marriages and would marry homosexuals. Thirdly, where exactly in the bible does it state that homosexuality is a sin. There are several things layed out in the bible as a sin that are in direct conflict to what one does every day, why is this any different.

 

Let me give you an example, have you EVER taken a picture, drawn something, made a sculputure or anything of the sort? I am guessing you have, if so you are in direct violation of the 10 Commandments. The second commandment in the bible is:

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."

 

Now catholics and many others take this to mean soley that you should not worship graven images, but that is not what is stated in the bible. Also even if you only take that then worshiping the cross, statues of the virgin mary, and anything of the sort is a sin. Yet I don't here anyone condeming these. The worsip of the cross is going against biblical teachings, mind you such teachings have not been taught by relegious authorities for quite some time, but it is a simple matter of reading the bible to verify this.

So is it your contention that all marriages are for the sole purpose of procreation then? If so what about an 80 year old heterosexual couple, shouldn't you also deny THEM the right to wed? As for homosexuality itself, I can't explain why a man would find another man attractive, personally I am all about the female body, I love women.

I already gave one example (Romans chapter 1) earlier but since you want further evidence:

 

Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

 

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

 

1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

As I said before, that is the thing, we're all sinners who deserve death, homosexuality is just one of the long line of things that will earn us death. We are all guilty and it's why God Himself had to come to save us if we were to be saved. And He had to come as a man to pay for the sins of mankind as a race that "whosoever believeth in Him might not perish but have everlasting life."

 

I already stated this in the above post, how monitoring sins and what is and isn't allowed here isn't going to get you into Heaven since we can never be good enough. So homosexuality sends you to Hell just like telling a little white lie or hating another person sends you to Hell. However, forcing religious institutions to go against what they know to be wrong in forcing them to institute marriages between couples the Bible doesn't recognize as such is also wrong.

 

If homosexual couples want to marry as long as churches don't have to do marry them according to law I will not oppose it. Just hating someone else is equated to murder and how can we control the thoughts of another? No matter how hard we try we can never be good enough to reach Heaven nor can we help anyone us be good enough either. What I'm saying is keeping homosexuals from marrying isn't doing them any favor since what they need is to find mercy through Jesus Christ by realizing they are sinning and to turn from those sins to follow after Him that they may have eternal life. If someone doesn't submit in such a way and willfully sins against God I would question whether they ever truly allowed Christ to become Lord and Saviour of their life in the first place, and were ever born again at all. Salvation is a heart transaction, but we can see the fruits/results of that changed heart.

 

 

 

 

As for graven images, the word we've interpreted as "graven images" is the Hebrew pecel, here's the definition for it from Strong's Hebrew Dictionary:

 

06459.  lop  pecel,  peh'-sel

Search for 06459 in KJV

 

from 6458; an idol:--carved (graven) image.


So the image would have to be a carved idol it would seem, not just a drawing or sculpture automatically.

 

 

 

 

 

I don't begin to understand the justification behind worshipping statues of Mary but know from experience that Catholics will simply try to defend it by saying they're not "worshipping" them but just showing honor or something like that. I don't agree with it and to get their reasoning for it I guess you'd have to talk to one of them. *shrugs*
