LeAnn Rimes My Angel 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 (edited) The online porno industry is preparing for a new .xxx domain, which will surely cause a frenzy since the new domain has been approved. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced the domain will become available most likely before the end of this year. The prices are expected to be around $75 US with no restrictions other than protecting children against pornography. The two non-profit orgainizations will oversee the management of the domains set. The ICM Registry will track the database and technical dealings, while the International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFOR) will be searching for the rules to manage the domain. Back in 2000, they attempted to approve the .xxx domain, but it was rejected by ICANN. It was met with rejection by some politicians who wanted it for the protection of children viewing these domains. Now that it will be used, there is concern over the companies and organizations who are being forced to use it for sensitive material. American Civil Liberties Union is worried that material such as homosexuality and birth control may be forced to use a .xxx domain, which in turn blocks those who need help and support for such topics.Ref: http://news.a.com.com/ Notice from snlildude87: Quote tags are awesome. hayri 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 Also you will get to know that there are any dialer on the sites. For example there has to be a law which says that you can only put dialer on your xxx page when you own a .xxx. domain. In my opinion, this would be a good thing
bjrn 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 I don't really see anything good about this. It's not like porn sites are going to abandon .com domains and move to .xxx. Although I guess it's nice to know what to expect. It's a bit like knowing that an email from a .biz domain is probably spam or scam.
enemista 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 Does that mean that there wont be any new adult sites on .com domains?

snlildude87 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 Does that mean that there wont be any new adult sites on .com domains? 148223[/snapback] No. I reckon that adult sites on a budget will still use .com domains since one can easily get one for less than 5 bucks a pop on special occasions. It's not like porn sites are going to abandon .com domains and move to .xxx.Yeah, I can't see that many of them dropping .com unless they're legally obliged to and in a lot of cases, they'll just move to servers in countries that don't have these sort of laws in place. Sprnknwn 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 Does that mean that there wont be any new adult sites on .com domains? 148223[/snapback] Dont think so. It would be too good to have the porn spamming outside the com, net, etc. domains. But I suppose both ways will survive.

LeAnn Rimes My Angel 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 Notice from snlildude87: Quote tags are awesome. Use them next time when you use the buttons Ctrl, C, and V. Thank you. 148149[/snapback] snlildude87, yes quote tags are awesome, I agree with you there 100%. That is excellent advice you pointed out to me, and all of the users at Xisto.com. I commend you on this, and I thank you for your valued tips and support as a moderator. I'll be glad to continue to quote material that is not my own in the future, just as I always have done. Yes, this article I made is similar to one on the Internet, but it is not the same. The words have been changed when I wrote it, therefore I believe it cannot be considered "plagiarised", and it cannot be considered to be copied using Ctrl + C from any webpage, book, or any other source. The article I wrote was referenced from CNET. The one that I wrote came from the geek.com located here http://www.geek.com/date/2005/6/, and I wrote my own version changing the words to my own. A few of the words are the same as everyone can see, but none of them are identical or copied using Ctrl and C. If anything I wrote is too similar to the article on geek.com, then I suppose I owe you and everyone at Xisto an apology for that. If this is too similar, I would appreciate it if you would send me a PM to let me know what level of similarity an article has to have in order to be considered Ctrl + C (copied) material. I'll be happy to go by your guidelines as best as I can in the future if you choose to inform me. Or if you prefer, feel free to send me e-mail instead. Thank you! No hard feelings. And of course, have a great day.
LeAnn Rimes My Angel 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 I did some quick research, and found it it is plagiarism. Now I know for the future.
