Changing The Dns Of A Subdomain Is this possible?

My cousin wants a website but she doesn't need a paid domain name.I want to transfer out my subdomain to for her to host elsewhere (as she is working and very busy and can't post on the forum for hosting for herself).Is there any way for me to change the DNS for a subdomain?I've tried searching on Google and on other forums talking about DNS and stuff, but I can only find things relating to redirecting and host masking, but since she doesn't have an alternative domain, but wants to use a subdomain as the address, how can I make this possible?Thanks for replying

I don't really think it is possible. I have also wondered about this. I hope you had better luck finding help than I did.

I believe it's possible, it has something to do with A alias but I just couldnt figure it out how to do it yet with cpanel... I know it can be done as someone told me b4... Try google 'subdomain alias'... it may help...

Thank you for trying to help Inspiron, I appreciate it but those don't really help much.What I'm asking is whether anyone knows of a way to use my subdomain.tatatee.com as a normal domain name to be hosted outside of the Trap 17 name servers, ie. is there a way for me to change the DNS for one single subdomain only?What hype said is true, yes, I also did tons of searches and waded through pages of information. But I have no idea what an A record is or how to modify it, so I'm not risking it for now, until I find out more.

If you run your own server it's possibe, you have to add a cname record. Here it's not possible because members could jeopardize the servers by adding a wrong record. We already had members try to use the NS! and NS@ as their domain names, if we give access to CNAME and A-records we wouldn't have servers left by monday. -_-As it is now most members have not even updated the MX record so I don't think access to or the ability to edit add or change A, A6, AAAA, CNAME, NS, PTR, TXT, or WRK records would be safe. If you don't know what you are doing here, you shouldn't be doing it because this is an area where you could mess up others hosting space and the trap servers.We will not add or change a record for you because it's very time consuming and we have to test and track.The short answer, no you can't point a subdomain somewhere else from Xisto hosting.Nils

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up NilsC. -_-But I cannot point it, not at all? Not even with FDNS.net or some other service? Or do those only help in pointing your own server-run subdomains?So basically all I can do is modify my subdomain to redirect, in cPanel?

I think she?s talking about parking a domain. Please correct me if I am wrong, but you want another domain address to be hosted with your hosting space? And the reason you are requesting for DNS point is you want, let?s say your cousin?s domain is ?mycousin.dns?, your cousin?s address to appear on the browser?s address line?I believe you have to park your cousin?s domain to your cpanel. Once that happens a folder will be created with an appropriate name. Upload the content to that folder and treat it like your regular parent directory (/public_html). And one of three things should happen:1) Configure mycousin.dns to Xisto?s name server and everything will go smoothly2) In case that does not happen and your Xisto account still shows up in the address bar, use ?address cloaking? method on mycousin.dns control panel. Cloaking method will fool the address bar by displaying mycousin.dns at all times3) If all fails, design mycousin.dns index with frames (you know what I mean?). And each navigation link should be opened to target frame within that index. This method will cause mycousin.dns/index to appear at the address bar at all timesI may be misunderstanding ?park domain? method but this is very common with small business sites. Worse comes to worst, you can find Java coding to mask the address bar. Cheers.
