I usually can't wait to try out these sort of versions, I tried lh 5048 and came up a little bit disapointed, remains with lot's of bugs and a little sluggish. The effects are workable, much lighter but still sluggish. Lot's of compability problems and it remains as pretty much Windows XP Sp2.

You can actually convert your current Windows XP into Longhorn with a freeware called Longhorn Transformation Pack.

It can be downloaded at these few places :

http://windows-vista-transformation-pack.soft32.com/

Longhorn Transformation Pack will update your Windows XP with the latest Longhorn GUI by adding some themes and patch system files.

Here's a screenshot of the program

I would recommend this program on a 1GB RAM computer with Pentium 4 HT technology or latest AMD processor as it has alot of memory and it needs to render graphics for your desktop.

I've tried it and it's cool. But it's quite slow on my computer.

I'm on 512MB RAM, its far too less...

Too less? I've got a pc with 1 GB RAM, and my notebook has 512, and it's running perfect on both.

I would guess that it would also run with just 256MB RAM

It will be perfect if you just enjoy the scene of Longhorn on your computer.Until when you need to play 3D or full screen games, and load documents into Microsoft Office, or even viewing PDF files or editing photos on PhotoShop, you will then realise the drastic decrease in speed...
