start learning c++ by using visual c++ 6.0 and read a c++ tutorial online, or buy a book. I recommend C++ How to program it will show you how to creat simple programs to more compliex applications.

The best guide in my mind would be wrox professional php/mysql programming. And you will always have to use the php refference found on http://php.net/, it really helps me out in a jam sometimes. Also try to learn about database connection and session handling before you try to make a huge php application because just knowing the basic syntax will get you into a lot of trouble.hope this post helps, if you have any questions like how to do something in php just post, and I will try to answer any questions the best I can.

does anybody know how to upload a pictures to the server and then resize the image to 180 x 60 in php? I get the image to upload and resize but I can't seem to have the temp image created by php deleted.

If your new to php then use dreamweaver, it provides syntax highlighting, and other features. If your a pro then notepad is just fine.
