  1. Also, I forgot to add. The following brands are deemed the "industry-best" for the mainstream buyers.Motherboards: ASUS (P5ND2)Case: Pentium D (64-bit) Dual Core.Graphics: GeForce 6 Series.. (6200, 6600, 6800)Harddrive: Western Digital 200GBCase: Cotytech ATX Mid-Tower (LP Model)These are solely opinions. Research is recommended.
  2. There are many reasons as to why you should build your own computer. Some say that the era of building your own PC is ending, but others beg to differ that, "it just started."Personally, I have bought my computers from vendors from the past. However, given the benefits, I think I might as well take up building my own computer. The benefits are as followed:1) Configurations that suits your needs.2) You know exactly what is in it.3) You assembled it, so you can easily disassemble it in the future for upgrades.4) Much cheaper.5) It generally sports no brands.6) Your computer. Your style.Brand name computers such as Dell, HP, Gateway, can cost twice as much, for half the configuration. Dell and the other vendors are generally more expensive because you are buying the brand.Even though Dell boasts to be extraordinarly cheap, it is not. In comparison to other brand vendors, it is, but vying against Cyberpower, or Ibuypower, it is not.Cyberpower and IBuyPower are totally customisable PC made by-you, for-you. You choose everything down to the Motherboard, Chip, Memory, and even Brands. If you prefer to go solo, I would recommend buyin the parts from either CyberPower, IBuyPower, Newegg, etc.It is generally the cheapest way, but if you are twitched at the sight of wires dangling, then go to Cyberpower, Ibuypower. They build it for you, as well as assemble it for you.
  3. By this I mean: 1. In my profile I am still listed as a Member. 2. I do not have access to the Hosted Members section. (I can not post there).
  4. When I created my account at https://support.xisto.com/, it appears everything is working. I reach up until the point it says "This may take a very long time... [Do not reload].." So I wait, and wait... And until finally a window pops up and says "This Document Contains no Data.." (Since I use Firefox)... On Internet Explorer it would read "Cannot Contact Server" I have NEVER seen: Result: Account Creation Complete. Account is ready on the server. Fininalizing Process. Editing Data. Done. Transfering Data and showing final page. I would just get a message such as "Cannot Contact Server." However, when I go to the Cpanel website, and log in... my new account is there... My new website is there... So although it didn't finish the process completely... the account is still created. Any comments are welcomed.
  5. Ok. So I went through through the process -- A success. So I uploaded my website onto the server.. but my Profile still says I am only a Member... I don't get the flashy "Hosted Members" title.. or any of that luxury! My Website is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/... I do have a website... but... Xisto says I don't? Could it be because I used a different username to sign up with Cpanel? "Noonster22" was too long, so I just used "Noonster" instead.. Could this be a potenitally bad thing?
  6. Cool thanks... I think I understand the problem now. I am going through the progress page right now.. Thanks!I'll keep you informed as to what has happened soon after.
  7. For the record, I have applied for hosting, and have been accepted. For some reason, I am not in the hosted member group, and thus I do not have access to forums such as "Free Web-Hosting: Domain Change." Am I suppose to manually add myself to this group, "Hosted Members Group?"
  8. Can I change my subdomain name from ipodexpert.astahost.com to swbirge.astahost.com?Thank you.
  9. I can't say I have.It is probably due to the following situations:You have a slow internet connection. The server is congested. You are accessing your web-server at peak hours. If the page-loading is extremely slow, try using frontpage editor. It automatically syncs with your website host, and the editing is on a graphical interface... meaning drag-and-drop, or what-you-see-is-what-you-get basis. However, front-page codes its websites in a format that is not the industry standard.Meaning it works with internet explorer, but maybe not firefox. That is the flaw with all drag-and-drop editors.
  10. Yahoo Chatroom is very downgraded. AIM chatrooms are not any different... These days no chatrooms are worthy to even chat in.I think the best chatrooms must be that of AOL. It offers supervisions, and it would not let to spam.Unlike its counter-part that it owns, AIM, it does let you spam, have bots in, and all of these other unmentionable features.AOL has kept it a good place for people to chat friendly.Although there are some reports of sexual harassments going on, they can be reported. And since AOL has your credit card number, reporting the harass'ers username is like putting their name to shame.AOL can locate your information via your credit card, and take the appropriate measures. This is the case, and it is the ultimate deterence.Thusfar it is working, and hence AOL has the safest chatrooms yet. Even though it has those who are 50-years old "rebels," they can easily be taken care of... via suing.
  11. X-Fire is an instant messenger client, server lister, and downloading manager compressed into one.It is used when say Steam's Friends feature doesn't. And believe me this is often. It takes the place of glitchy software, and makes it a world more simplier. It serves as an instant messenger. It has some functionality such as telling your friend what game you are in, the IP to connect to that game, the game he/she is playing, and so on. It is very versitille. It also serves as a server listing. It searches the list of server of any game, and it is rather quick. It is a very handy feature, but if you try to connect through the server from X-Fire, it can be a hassle. The downloading manager is a feeder for upcomming demos, patches, etc. It is not that handy...Although X-Fire is a new emerging technology, it in no way infringes Yahoo's copyrights. Its instant messanger can be, but it is not patented so. If it were, Microsoft, AOL, and many other instant messenger clients would be sued. This is not the case. Also, it is a vendor for games. It extracts server listings, download games, etc. Although Yahoo does serves as a multi-media headquarters, as X-Fire does, it does not hold the rights to that particular idea.I think Yahoo is attempting to scam a small business from its technology. If Yahoo capitalises on a technology like X-Fire in the feature, I would not be surprised...On a lighter note, I think Yahoo has stepped off from their alleged claim.I think the case is off now.
  12. Again, this feature can work both ways. If you are a very open person, I would recommend this. After all, there are some curious people, like me, that likes to see what people are searching. Some advantages:If you are bored, and you absolutely don't know which websites to search anymore, you can see other's people interest. The Bad:If you have some personal websites that you do not want to share, I rather you not share them. It is an invasion of privacy per se.Although it may help the community know your interest, and broaden the community interest itself, it may also work against you.I do not know the functionality of this service, but I can assure you there are some fineprints somewhere. As anything, they can use your list of personal favorites against you... if you ever end up in court. So in the end, I would share common websites, but maybe not blog links, etc.Again, it is just up to you to choose, pick your path.
  13. Skype is a revolutionary internet software that is changing the industry, if not crippling it. It offers its users with free telephone calls to others using Skype also. From the makers of Kazza, Skype too capitalises on p2p (peer-to-peer) technology. Skype has a very clean interface, better than that of many rival softwares. Some rivals includes, but is not limited to Vontage VOIP, ATT Callvantage, etc. These companies offers the same thing as Skype -- calls via your computer. However Skype is not that hyped. It is restricted to calling other Skype users. Never the less, if you pay a "per-minute" fee, you can call to ordinary house phones. Otherwise, you are restricted to calling only other Skype users. If this is the case, it can be compared to the "TALK" or "VOICE" feature on MSN, Yahoo, and AIM. It allows you to use your microphone to "call" the other user. It is completely legal, as using the "VOICE" feature on MSN would be.For more information, visit Skype.com!
  14. Google has done something that every other company couldn't. For the first time ever, it is offering a free photo management software. This software lets you edit, customise, and alter images. If you have used Jasc Photoshop, or Adobe Photoalbum, STOP! When your liscense or trial expires, think twice before renewing.Made by google, its interface is of exceptional quality. It has a metallic look, that looks in a blend of glossy and glassy. It is a nice freeware that is very clear and simple to use. Its interface is divided into four sections.Above on top is the toolbar, and the alter buttons. On the Left side is the folders of your images. On the Right are the pictures thumbnails. It also has a resident scanner that scans newly downloaded images and adds it to your photo-library.It hosts both video and photos, and it can change colors, add text, lighten or darken a photo's contrast, etc.All-in-all, it is one of those programs you can't believe its free. It is that good.Download it at Google.com...The program tile is... Picasa. It is exactly what you would expect from the makers of google.
  15. In a race for more security, I have found these amazing programs that has an exceptional interface. It has not the tedious layout of most program, it has a "Mac-Grade" layout. Sunbird is a clender program that blends simplicity with elegancy. Firefox is defined as safe, safe, and just safe. Thunderbird is an alternative to Outlook. Hello is a picture instant messenger, "Because Instant messengers just aren't made for pictures." Hello is a program made by Google, and it offers a high-speed transfer and a a safe environment to share photos with your friends and family. It is an alternative to "Yahoo Photos."Sunbird is a caldender apllication. It has a clean interface that is very simplistic. It can be figured out by a half-brain moronic twit. It covers the basics such as adding a task, an appointment, etc. Also, it is upgradable for free. You can download extensions, plug ins, etc.Firefox is the lastest acclaimed internet browser that rivals Internet Explore. It is extremely safe and permissive. It asks your permission before any attempts to alter you computer. In other words, if it is not loading pictures and websites, it will ask your permission!Thunderbird is the altnerative to Outlook. It has an uncluttered interface that can be modified. You can download extensions at websites, and so on. It resembles Outlook very much.
  16. Ever since I jumped off the MAC OS9 bandwagon, I said "Mac, I am never going back!" Apparently, I was wrong. Not only has the price tags dropped, the designs improved, and the operating system acclaimed, it is safer to use.I have switched from MAC to PC, to PC to MAC many times. I have lost count.Thing is, ever since they debuted MAC OSX, I think I am starting to have MAC envy! Now I wonder why I ever threw out my MAC! I could've just upgraded it!It is also so sleek, it delivers preformance and percise details to everything.I think what it will take would be another price drop.It is still expensive, and I am not willing to take that big of a risk yet... yet...
  17. I think I like the operating system future. Lol. I don't think it counts as one, but it is much better than windows XP. When I first heard of window XP, I thought it was cool.It had a nice cool green-blue toolbar, nice looking icons, and wow! It was nice. However, when I actually got a computer loaded with Window XP for christmas, I was disappointed. You can basically save the files anywhere, and you can easily delete system files, hence ruining your operating system! Windows XP is so vulnerable to these stuff! Imagine A virus deleting just one file, and you can't log on anymore! Also, after a while, Windows XP wears and tears down. Its folders get clogged, and some files are left from UNINSTALLED files. MAC OS is different. I have the different color iMacs of 2000's. It was very nice designed, but the operating system was disappointing then; MACOS9. I heard the newer upgrades such as tiger and panther, etc. is much better.I have seen some screenshots, and ever since I got my iPod, I have gone Apple-envy. You can say I am an Apple-FanBoy.I like the quick-user switch feature that just switches the screen like a rotating box... in other words its graphics. Also, I like its dash-bar! I love how easy it is, and accessible it is. On Windows XP, you have to press the start-button, and when your computer is lagging, it will not even show up. In this case, it is extremely inaccessible...I also like futures such as the widgets you can download... Although Windows can do this, it is from third-party vendors, and god knows if it is virus infested. Also, Windows XP is a virus magnet! Almost every website I go to is loaded with spyware and all of this applications! Sometimes I don't feel safe using my own computer! On another note, the processor is extremely slow, and frustrating to use! I have tried a mac, and for some reason it is lightning fast. Even though it is said to have only a 1 GHZ processor, it is faster than most PC!I also envy other features such as iWork, iLife, and the whole bundle! It just seems so productive! It seems I can do a lot of things with a Mac, and quicker!PC's are for entertainment, Macs are for productivity.
  18. I think this is the age of blogs. This is the blog-era where everybody has a blog. Everybody but me. Although I do not blog, I hear a lot of great things about it... I have a blog account, but I never used it.My personal favorite blog is Google's Blogster. Most people think of "Life Stories" in blogs. In fact, this is not true. It is rather a personal website per se. It is happens to be so that everybody uses it only for Life Stories. In short, I can say I am just not a bloggy type person. However, by all means, I think blogging is a great idea, but when it gets to personal, I think it has to stop there... A blog is open for the public, so its content should be public-based, and not... yeah... It is not a diary.
  19. On a heavier note, you can say it is like the Virtual PC. Virtual PC is developed by Microsoft, and it emulates MAC I think, or the other way around...Needless to say, it is extremely slow, and I would not recomend doing anything arduous on it. It not only requires a lot of RAM and system resources, but its productivity is extremely no competition to its resource-hogging "feature". It is not efficient.I would recommend to use it only to transfer file, but nothing more...If you value time, and believe Time=Money, than I would just suggest buying a mac... A physical mac can do the job WAY WAY WAY faster than a virtual mac.In some cases, it would out-buy itself. By the time you save in using a physical mac, you can be so much more productive.All-in-all, I disagree with emulators that emulates other operating systems. It is extremely poor.
  20. I totally agree with you. I think people that switch to macs DO go back. Unlike their ads say "Once you go mac, you will never go back."This isn't true.In an ideal world, you would use both. Use Macs for productivity, Windows for multimedia.I think the reason why windows dominates the world shares in operating system because of this. They capitalises on entertainment, and it appears to be working.More people tend to rather have fun than be working.I agree.
  21. May I suggest using firefox, an Anti-Virus, and Zone Alarm for this? Most of the website appears to be legitimate, but others seem to direct us to viruses and scams. It is totally unsafe. I have heard of emp3world.com, but I do not use it for some of the following reasons: It has some viruses It directs us to obscene contents Not all of the songs are complete songs The website is very glitchy Although the title may be correct, the song isn't Very inconnvenient A lot of broken links Time = Money, and at the rate you can find music via search engines, it would be more costly than using iTunes iTunes has much better quality Very low bitrate. I prefer to use legal downloads
  22. I have tried Google Video, and I must say, it has to be in Beta still. I have reasoned this because it is very very unorganised. It reminds me on a Window XP versus a MACOSX duel. When I tried to search up iPod in the text, most of the video links were broken, and some even directed me to obscene content.All-in-All, the video future will never be up to par as the image feature. It is a mere fact.Since because video takes so much more bandwidth and space on the website, website owners tend not to keep the videos on the File Manager for long. It is a system hog, and just isnt worth it. I tend to redirect people to Yahoo Music (Formerly called Launch.com) for music videos. I just dont have the space to host videos!
  23. Personally I prefer Macs.I have used Dells, EMachines, HP, and all of these wonderful brands that endorses Windows. As great as windows is, its operating system is very cluttery and incoherent. After a few years of careless organising files, the operation system becomes bogged and slow.In mac's case, it has an actually a unclunky simplified operating system. In most cases, it is more safer, as it is harder to alter its system documents. I have a Dell Laptop, and by this years end, I want an iBook. I think it is just worth the investment. It is a group tool for school, and it is just more easier to use.The new version of OSX is also out. I heard some good reviews about tiger, and I can't wait until I get my hands on a MAC!
  24. I tried to download this application from Google's website. It said it was down or not accepting anymore members. So instead, I went to download.com to download it. It installed perfectly, but I did not notice a huge difference in speed. It may be because I am using broadband, and by attemping to speed up broadband would be useless! After all it is recommended for dial up users. Also, it installs an icon that reports how much seconds/minutes have been saved in using Google Download Accelerator. I have used it for three days, and it is still at 0.00 second saved. I think it is not working.I found out today that the program has been suspended! Maybe that is exactly why!
