  1. I don't really think the amount of time spent online is necessarily a bad thing, depending on what that time is spent doing. As a direct example, it's been proven that certain game types increase intelligence and the ability to think critically (such as RTS games), as well as increase reaction speeds and ability to analyze (RTS/FPS). Furthermore, some people spend their time online learning about things.

I agree that the Internet doesn't make you fat or socially inept as well, as there are many people I know that are hardcore PC users/gamers that are skinny, have well-paying jobs, and are very well socially connected solely because of the Internet and what it brings to the table.

I didn't state that spending a lot of time online is a bad thing. It's not, as I mentioned though it's the parent's responsibility to monitor what their kids do online.

The second statement represents myself pretty accurately.

  2. LOLOLOL, I'm with Bikerman! 35 sounds mature enough if you ask me. Really, keep kids away from the internet. Way too much weird stuff on here and you can't watch them constantly. Make them go play outside, make friends, ride bikes, play baseball in the park, or build a tree house. Let them be KIDS not nerds. They will thank you when they grow up and are physically and mentally fit.

That's a rather poor opinion of kids who use the internet. I grew up around computers and the internet. I spent a lot of time outdoors as well. Joined the military shortly after high school and am making more money(outside of the military, of course) working with computers than most of the kids I knew in school who never touched a computer. I'm glad that my parents allowed me access to the internet when I was a kid. The world today revolves around technology, growing up around it makes it easier to transition into a technological role. There are plenty of ways that a parent can monitor their children online. Numerous programs allow parents the ability to restrict websites based on category/meta data. They can also limit the amount of time you have access to the internet. It's up to the parent to be responsible about what their kids do when they're online. The simple fact that a child uses the internet certainly doesn't make them fat and mentally/socially inept

  3. 1.What if on your 3rd month, your host goes down for 30 hours?
2.What if you want to upgrade?

3.What if you want to shift to ASP or Coldfusion hosting?

4.What if you decide to quit your website after a year?

5.What if you are charged like crazy for bandwidth overuse?

6.What if you happen to break their TOS (by mistake).

    1. You should be compensated
    2. You can upgrade at any time by simply paying the prorated fee to move to the new plan
    3. Call Hosting Support and explain your needs, you will be adjusted accordingly
    4. Refund for the unused time
    5. Unlimited Bandwidth on all plans
    6. You'd be notified of the breach in terms and giving a grace period to correct the action.

That's what we do at GoDaddy..I deal with stuff like this alllll day. People wanting ASP.net 4.0, needing IIS6 for frontpage, coldfusion even dedicated IPs. They can make almost any modification to there plan that they need with very little down time. Generally changes to hosting features aren't difficult to make.

Granted we can never beat ComputingHosts prices, it's all down to personal preference. Xisto - Web Hosting was my first hosting provider and they're great.

  4. If this battle between the 2 of you keeps going on I will apply a warning to both your accounts. That being said it looks like we have to monitor the image gallery more closley since people can't seem to be mature about it. In regards to the concern about it being slow for dial up users - putting it at the top or bottom of the page won't matter. It still has to load when you come to the website. Only alternative would be removing it completly from the home page.

  5. Welcome back and welcome home Kubi!!!
Thank you for serving our country and defending for those who cannot defend for themselves (myself included). I'm glad that you made it back healthy and that no harm has come to you.

Don't worry about the job. They should know better not to mess with any military service personnel. They will get what's coming to them!!! It's the law.

Thanks BH. It means a lot. Most people aren't very appreciative and it feels really good to know someone who is. I spoke with GoDaddy and they're going to let me start work as soon as I get back from our Annual 2 week training.

  6. For you newer members who haven't met me, I used to be a Moderator on Trap. I went on leave for military service. I was gone for 8 months.Federal Reg says that any service member who goes on active duty orders is required to be reinstated to there former position with same pay, status and seniority upon returning. However this was not the case with T-Mobile. Promptly after my active duty service was over I reported back to my store requesting reinstatment. I waited, and waited, and called, and waited some more. After 4 weeks of waiting, losing money and becoming late on car payments they finally told me I was fired. What reason? I was fired because I decided to volentarily serve my country. As if there were a draft in effect. Of course I did it volentarily, there WAS NO DRAFT. I spoke with ESGR and they talked to HR, approx. 12 hours later I received a call saying I was reinstated. Ha.Maybe this will change your opinion on cell phones before you go shop at a place that has no respect for there soldiers.

  7. You guys are thinking more like programmers than designers. No decent web designer would make it's user scroll that far to get to what he or she wants. It's frustrating as hell. I've resorted to just using the "View New Posts" link 99% of the time.

At least you're not on the moderator team. We have to scroll even farther to get to our forum (At the bottom).

I do agree there are a lot of forums and it takes a while to get used to, but if you take the time you'll find out that it does have a general order, and it becomes relatively easier to browse.

  8. As a "what if?" scenario, maybe we can discuss a Spam Tax on the Xisto.

As you (should) know by now, because you have all read the Xisto Readme file, when you make a posting, you earn MyCents. When the posting is sent to the Spam Bucket, you lose more MyCents than you actually earned with that Spam posting. I wonder if Opaque would consider the "excess" as a fund for awarding to Contest winners, like the Xisto Awards?

After a year or so, that would likely cover the cost of the Winners of the Xisto Awards as discussed in this thread.

Ohh, dirty dollars. Sounds like a plan to me! Just go ahead and transfer the funds into this swiss bank account I have here and we'll be on our way.

  9. Why would I openly give my information to a company who once already scammed me? Nice try, but I'm not buying. This is a public discussion forum, not a place for me to post my personal information. Don't be surprised when you don't find it in my above post. Being a public forum, I am allowed to post my thoughts within the forum guidelines, don't try to monitor what I say. I have been staff here for 3 years, I know what I can and can't say. Also, a nice reply from a company who was just accused of fraudulent behavior. Seems you guys already know what you're up to.

  10. If you haven't done any modifications to your MyBB board all you need to do is backup your mysql DB and reimport it to your Xisto account. Afterwords just extract your MyBB files into your new directory. This will save you the hassle of having to download a full ftp backup and then re-uploading the whole thing. But all posts, threads, forum etc are saved in the db.
