1. best thing is to scan in safe mode, that way no programs are running, also some anti-virus such as avast will let you schedual a scan when windows starts, when you first install avast it will give you that option. avast has a free home edition by the way all you need is to registered to get a free license, otherwise you can use it for 60 days. if you know the name of the suspicius program, you can try removing it from starting up, type in msconfig and goto the startup tab and look for the entery for that file, it will show where the files are stored in startup and in the registery, just uncheck the program you don't want to startup and restart. but this doesn't always work for viruses as they can put themselfs back in the startup. so the best option is to go in safe mode. also you can try killing the process, from the task manager, but sometimes you get the access denied messages.
 2. I reallly recommend using utorrent as a replacement, I have been using it since 2007, and it just perfect. and I hear it's the most popular bit-torrent downloader. utorrent is also very light, and it doesn't hurt your computer's performance. here is a link to download it: http://download.cnet.com/uTorrent/3000-2196_4-10528327.html good luck! I have also tried it with Windows XP/Vista/7 and it works fine on all of them.
 3.

Hello, you haven't mentioned what you want to do with the connection, here is some suggestions: 1. if you want to do file/printer sharing, once you have them connected you can go to either computer and select START->Run, type in "\\computername" and enter ., for example if the other computer's name is "bob" you can type in "\\bob", that will open up a windows that shows what is shared on that computer. if you haven't enabled any shared folders/printers to be shared you won't see anything in that window. to do that, goto the computer you want to share stuff in , and select what you want to share, right click it, it should open up a menu and select share, or select properties and goto the sharing tab, and click on "share this folder". if this doesn't work then your computer must be enabled for sharing first. 2. if you want remote control, the simplest way is to use "remote control" program that comes with windows XP and up. this also works via Windows Live messenger. but by default windows xp does not allow remote control requests to be sent to it, so you have to enable that, read this article for more information: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ if there is something else that you want to do , you can contact me or post here.
