  1. I dont really know how long a man can survive without water. But i have heard of something crazy like this.

There is a village at north america ( if i remember correctly !!! ) occupied by some native tribals . And the water over there stays highly contaminated. So, the locals use some kind of a plant juice for all their needs . i.e, they take a liquid from these plants and use it as a substitute for water.

As i had seen it on a footage on a television channel, i do not remember the exact name of the village. But, if it is true, then a man could live for his whole life span without water, provided he has a substitute for it.

That's because you need liquids, not water to survive. That would be more correct. Anyway it depends from person to person how much you can survive without water. Also the temperature and humidity of the air counts a lot. If the temperature and humidity is higher your body liquids will run out faster. Normally it would take like 3-5 days for someone to die of thirst.

  2. Ok lets start with the begining. All things on your website, text, images, flash, scripts will be downloaded by your browser in order to see your website. That's why in order to make your site run faster and better you must make sure that is valid website and meet the criteries of W3C Web Consortium . This will not only make your website run faster but also will save a considerable amount of bandwith. In order to that you need to learn the basis of valid (x)HTML and CSS. You can learn them at W3Schools . Get used to validate your pages. You can do that here . You can also validate your CSS there not only your HTML. It would take some time for me to explain all the things such as captioning the images, optimize them for web, improve your website's SEO and all the things. I only wanted you to get to know how you can do what you asked. Furthermore you have to learn it by yourself. There are plenty of books, websites and other resources where you can learn. I'm always avaivable to help as much as I dont have to explain an entire history.

    Cheers!

  3. Looks Ok at the first sight but you can still make some improvements. Firstly the "@ contact" is poorly made. You could make a better one because it has creepy quality, bad colors and it takes down a lot of your forum. Also you might want to change the new post, old post forum images and all that set to fit better. The same goes for the menu tabs. Overall it seems a pretty good website. Ah and here is that "@ contact" thingy, I've made one for you if you want to use it.

  4. Don't destroy your audience by moving into tk domain. The banner is ugly and takes way too much space. I don't know about others, but when I see a .tk domain, I tend to not take that site seriously and leave! But that's just my opinion.
And it costs only 10 $ WITH TAXES. not 14 in any means. Correct me anyone if I'm wrong.

I heard about those taxes too but that was some time ago when I first join Trap. Yes .tk is useless, it will only damage your website reputation. If you really want to get a free domain like those than go for .co.cc because is the best.

  5. It did think it as around $10 USD, but then I found out from someone that there are taxes involved and it costs around $14 dollars including tax per annum (I typed in $15 for good measure in case something happens), and if I am to get unlimited hosting, then i will be requires to earn around $12 dollars a month just for hosting, where I could get the unlimited for free at Blogger.com.
The only drawback is the navigational bar on top of the blog... but I really can't think of anything else. There's the free templates, the free everything... plus, there's an export button somewhere on the dashboard settings in the blog, so I'm assuming that it will be quite easy to change hosting just by clicking exporting and import it into my own domain site and hosting site.

But I know what you're getting at. I might get there someday, and I hope I will... but currently I don't have the funds to start and I'm reluctant in using my small stash of myCENTS that will easily run out in one month because I can keep up with the hosting. If there is any way for me to transfer this to a individual hosting it is will be great, though I think I might lose some Bloggers memebers just for ditching this site... Anyway, we'll see how things go. Apparently it is possible to be successful even with a .blogspot domain, though I'm not counting on that... I might use one of the free domain names give (co.cc, uni.cc, co.nr, ,tk) and we'll see if it works or not...

    What do you think?

Hey I was just suggesting you if you really want a pro blog you need to do that. And why unlimited ? Think a little. It takes time to build your blog, to get audience. You can gradually upgrade your plan. When you see that your currently bandwidth won't handle you can simply upgrade it wit less than a dollar. You don't need the best hosting plan in the start. And here comes the great part. While you doing this and time passes the incomes will come. You can use them to support your host and even have a win from this :P. But it's your choice I was just trying to help . And trust me same features you get from the free blogger platform you can get from the wordpress one installed on your webhost.

  6. Yeah, I guess you're right. But the point of this blog is the make money to I can earn passively and work on my main project without having to post on Xisto twenty four / seven, which is exactly what I'm doing now... now doing what I'm supposed to do, and sleeping late in the wee hours of the night when I'm meant to be doing other stuff...
Which is why I started my blog and it's an attempt to earn some money online... I'm still new to everything, so I really don't know how hosting works, and I definitely can't code everything myself, but if I can just copy and paste the template, that'd be cool... but I won't know how to post then, without the Blogger platform. Plus... if I earned $15 USD from my blog, I can then buy a domain off Google... right???

Though having 100% control would be ideal, of course. If only I'm a computer geek...

Hmm... thanks. yeah. I'll tell everyone I can about it, and I'll see if I can find some images off the web. And that's a good thing too, because that means that I can source the pictures from somewhere else and apparently it give you respect in the blogospheric community, which results in more readers and subscribers, if you don't mind losing some of them through the links...

Yeah... newstack.com AND .org is taken. I only know shortly after I used the name in blogspot, though I can still change it (it's a good name though), and the .net extension is free...

Another thing is that the term "newstack" comes up with 15,600 results from google, so I don't have a lot of competition, and apparently newstack.com is quite wellknown... so I might get some traffic off there, though I would prefer a .com domain name. So I'll have to think up another name. Something witty and hints at interesting news... like newstack... well, maybe not...

Just to tell you though, Blogger does let you pay for a domain name through them... so I don't need to worry about anything, I think, and still use their service. But paying services seem better to me...

You can purchase a domain from here to. If I'm not mistaken is only 10$. And about posting non stop here to get the money for the hosting you are totally wrong. You can earn the money for the 1.95$ plan in 4-5 good quality posts. As I said you don't have to know coding at all. Nothing really. Just common sense. Downloading wordpress platform and installing it is easy. Just a few clicks. After that putting the theme is the same, or plugins. It takes a few minutes. Thats all. This morning I installed wordpress in less than 5 minutes. It's really easy. The admin panel is the same as wordpress.com. Just give it a try if you dont trust. Go and get a free hosting without having to post. It doesnt matter which one just to support wordpress installation. Try and install it and look around. You'll see how easy it is . But just my opinion tough.

    Cheers!

  7. This is a really good point - getting your own domain helps a lot in the longrun. Okay, so newstack.com is taken ( :P ) but there are still a lot of good domain names you could use in relation to the theme of your blog. It's much more easier visiting your blog directly through a domain instead of a sub-domain!
On the other hand, having your blog on sites like blogger, wordpress, etc does have its own advantages like ready-to-use plugins and themes and zero percent necessity of programming/coding  So it's up to you to weigh the odds and decide which one's the best thing for you to do. Since you're only just starting out, it won't be difficult to migrate to a domain from your blogger account.

Agreed. But having your blog on your own host gives you more freedom. You can make toatally custom themes and you can use plug ins too :(. And you don't need to be a coder, designer to get your blog working and look pretty on your own host. All you need is common sense. It's easy to do it.

  8. Good to know that you started off on something Nameless_  I haven't yet taken a good look at your site but from first glance it does seem interesting. A few more good posts could attract more visitors to it. $1 a week is a pretty big target for a starter site. That's because you need around 100 clicks per week. That means your blog must attract at least 200-300 visitors per week, because not all of them will click on the ads and so to get 100 clicks first you're gonna need a lot of visitors. I would advice you to initially stop thinking about how much you're getting from the ads and start concentrating on the quality of your posts. If a site which promises interesting news suddenly ends up with boring news then it's not a very good thing....so just concentrate more on your quality.

Regarding how long it will take for your site to be indexed, I can only make a far guess, because it depends on many factors. I think you need to read up a little on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to know more about this. I think more experienced members will advice you about this later on so be patient :P

and finally, all the best for you first site and remember not to lose your grip over quality - it is of utmost importance!

    ciao!

Firstly, The Simpleton is perfectly right. You must bring high quality posts in order to attract more people to your blog that will make you money. I'll answer your question about your website not being indexed yet in google. It's all because you dont own a domain yet. Yes domains make it faster for google to index.

My opinion, if you really want to have a good blog you definetly need to start it like a pro. Firstly forget about the blogger.com, wordpress.com and many other engines like this. Get a webhoting service from here, the 1.95$ plan is enough for you and if you need more bandwith just upgrade it with less than a dolar. Get a domain so you can be indexed by google easier and also your audience will remember easier how to get to your blog. Go to wordpress.org and install it on your webhost. Than you can get themes, custom plugins that will help you a lot. Even plugins that will help your SEO. If you need help just post it here and I'll help you with whatever you want. I recently started a web design blog on my own but I have some experience.

    Cheers!

  9. Personally I think that 000webhost is one of the best option out there. I can say that I have a considerable amount of experience with their hosting. Firstly to start with their words. Yes it's really annoying as Sky said because they promise CPanel but in exchange you get their panel which I dare to say that isn't that creepy but still it doesnt compare with CPanel. They dont put adds banners or anything else on you websites so this is nice from them. Now, this host is good for a nice cozy blog, a personal website that doesn't get high audience because I have to say that they oversell. They are lying about the amount of bandwith that they give. Come one 100GB. Even now thats somewhere paid hosts give. After about 5GB of bandwith consumed your website starts to get slower and slower till wont work. This is a big minus. The amount of hard disk is ok in my opinion, it tends to be good. Not to say another problem is their MySQL servers which from time to time Idle and if you own blog, forum, CMS website that depends on MySQL databases your website will be broken. This annoying problem is encountered lesser lately. Also another problem they have is the overcharging of the FTP access which also lately is encountered lesser. Overall it's a good hosting, possibly the best in their class. It clearly wont compete with Trap but it might be number one against the other ones. That would be all that I have to say from my experience I had with 000webhost.Cheers!

  10. Well as most of the guys say GMail is for sure the best free emailing service around there. It's the fastest, the safest and the most comfortable to use. I just love it . It has a lot of great services. You can activate your phone notifications for free. You can also with an email at them use other of their great services. Also if you purchase a web master tools account you can use your own domain and boost up your space. Also you have 7365 MB disponible for use which is a lot more than you need. Just check it out. I guarantee its the best .Cheers!

  11. Well the first time I got into HTML was 3-4 years ago in middle school. The computer science class was trying to learn us the basics of HTML. Than I didn't cared about that but as soon as I grew up the web fascinated me. I wanted to create "web" too. I desperately searched for sources and got linked to W3 Schools which I think almost everyone stated in this thread. It was quite complex for me. I tried and tried. Mainly I learned the basics and more of from experiencing. But I can tell you is pretty bad to do it so. If you really want to learn HTML, better, XHTML and CSS you need to do it seriously and you can do that from one of the many ebooks around on the internet. I personally chose Learning HTML and CSS a book form O'Reily. It was the greatest book. I tell you I read all of it in a few days and tried some of the practises. It's important to learn the correct way of HTML to create accesible websites for people.

About the text editing software I can link you some.

    Notepad++

This is probably the best free text editor for Windows out there; with support for simple thingslike syntax highlighting and foldingall the way up to FTP, Notepad++ should tick most of the boxes. I've used the editor as my main editor quite a bit, and one of my favourite features is File Status Auto-detection: when NP++ is made the active program, it will check all currently open files for changes and let you know if any file has been updated / deleted. Notepad++ is based on the Scintilla editing component.

    https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ Free

    JEdit

Jedit is rather ugly in my opinion, but it has a decent feature set; as a Java program, it's actually multi-platform. It offers syntax highlighting for over 130 languages. The website says it supports folding, but I couldn't get that to work (although it does highlight the opposite bracket). Jedit has a plugin repository, which may give the editor a bit more functionality.

    http://jedit.org/ Free

    Notepad2

Notepad2 is also based on the Scintilla editing engine, but it's much simpler than Notepad++. It bills itself as being fast, light-weight, and Notepad-like, and offers syntax highlighting for a variety of languages. There's no installation for this editor: just unzip and run. There are a few modified versions (with more features / languages) available.

    http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html Free

    Programmer's Notepad

Programmer's Notepad has a similar interface to that of Notepad2, although it does support having multiple files open at once. It supports bookmarking, folding, and highlighting, but other than that, there isn't too much to mention.

    http://www.pnotepad.org/ Free

    Crimson Editor

Crimson Editor offers macro support and the ability to execute external programs. It has the ability to edit remote files, using a built-in FTP client; there's also a spell checker and a neat 'column select' mode.

    http://www.crimsoneditor.com/ Free

    ConTEXT

ConTEXT supports many languages, both programming and human; it also gives you the ability to define your own custom languages. It does file comparing and exporting to HTML, and includes some interesting behaviour for projects. Another neat thing: ConTEXT remembers where your cursor is when you close a file, and puts it back there when you re-open the file.

    http://www.contexteditor.org/index.php Free

    Bespin

I know Bespin isn't really a Windows text editor, and it hardly has the feature set that other editors do, but I thought I'd throw it into the mix just because I really like the concept of an online text editor and because it has one big (obvious) feature that the rest don't: cloud access to your code. It also offers syntax highlighting for HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Free

    Textpad

TextPad is a rather simplistic editor: it boasts column select, drag-and-drop text between files, and hyperlink support. It also supports large files (based on the size of your virtual memory). That's it? Well, the feature list also mentions a right-click menu.

    http://www.textpad.com/products/textpad/index.html $24.70

E-Text Editor (My favourite besides Dreamweaver)

    Resembles a lot with TextMate

    http://www.e-texteditor.com/ $34.96

    EditPlus

EditPlus doesn't have anything unique, but there are some niceties: it highlights URLs and email addresses, activating them when you 'crtl + double-click'. It also has a built in browser for previewing HTML, and FTP and SFTP support. Macros and RegEx find and replace are good to have as well.

    https://www.editplus.com/ $35.00

    Sublime Text

Sublime Text is probably one of the most fun editors that I looked at, mainly because of its super-cool 'zoomed out' view of the file that you can pan around on. One drawback is that the preferences dialog is really just a bunch of text files; this can make it a bit difficult to tweak settings if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. I like the option to open a local file when you right-click on its link, and there are a few automation features, so this would make a solid choice of a text editor.

    http://www.sublimetext.com/ $59.00

And my favorite thus far :

    Adobe Dreamweaver (Current version CS4)

Design, develop, and maintain standards-based websites and applications

Build world-class websites and applications with one of the industry's leading web authoring tools. Adobe® Dreamweaver® CS4 software is ideal for web designers, web developers, and visual designers.

    http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver.html $399

I know the price is high. Forget "high", insane would be a more appropriate word for that. I assure you that it fully deserves it price. It's the best hypertext editing software there. Basically it does more than half of you job done.

Well that would be all my friend. Good luck and also if you have more questions don't hesitate to ask me here or use private messaging .

    Cheers!

  12. I've been using paypal for more than an year now. I've been quite content with their service until now but I've got stuck on a problem. I wanted to verify my account and after getting a card so I followed the process and after completing with all my card info I found that my card wasn't able to handle other currency that my country has. Now I want to go and make a new card this time that handle US and EUR currencies too but in my account I can't find a way to erase the other card info which paypal still waits for it to be activated. Also they have this annoying 100$ limit for non-verified accounts. I already passed that limit on my issued account and I still have money there. So I have to wait an whole year to use them. This sucks. Lately I've observed that they are charging more fees. Which hadn't happened till now. I started designing for quite some time now so Paypal is an important service for me because most of the clients use it for payments. I still couldn't solve the problem stated before and for now Im just going to wait for that limit to get off so I can get my money. I recently created a new account where I recieve payments. That's all for now. Overall is a good service but for sure not perfect .

  13. Welcome back. Glad to see you again. This place is always open for new/old members.

I'm better now and I hope I have great time with you guys. Also the forums overload a lot. Maybe it's just me but in some hours of the day I can't access them at all. It looks like you guys still have some problems with the servers :P.

  14. Hey people!

Welcome around Siner! Have a good time here. Also that's cool I also know how to do valid xHTML and CSS websites but I don't have really much practice. I'm focusing on design more and I'm 16 as well . Nice to meet you !

  15. I just recently made another video tutorial on a web design. I hope you guys like it.

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

  16. Hey guys my name is Andrei and I've been here for a while some time ago. I had some personal issues and had to leave this great community. I'm really happy for re-joining the forums and I hope to find all my old friends as well as getting new ones. I've read the rules and probably know them because as I said I spent some time here before. If you want to know more here is my about page from the profile :

Hello guys, my name is Andrei and I'm from Romania ;) . Somewhere in Central Europe in case you don't know (I bet you don't xD). Well what can I say about me. I'm not a computer addicted or freak, I'm just a normal teenager, oh yeah I'm 16, which goes out a lot with his friends (crazy ones) and loves all kinds of sports :P . I've played soccer and I've also done Judo for one year. Now I'm hypnotized by basketball and I can say that I love it. I would also would love to do other sports like hockey or american football but I can't mainly becuase that they aren't that popular in my country and there are little places to do them :|. When I spend time on my computer I usually watchmovies, listen to music ( I do it allot in any kind of places and in almost all situations xD), chat with my friends and I'm also interested in web design. I have allot of interest in Photoshop and Flash. All I have learned was by myself and I'm planning to learn more. I also love snowboarding and other winter sports. I can say that I'm a sociable guy, and I'm pretty active. So if you want to ask something dont hesitate to do it. I love new friends.

I really hope to get well along with you guys and have a nice time here.

    Cheers!

  17. Hi all My name is Wael , iam new here and interesting to make friends and share knowledge

    i hope find what i look'n for .

Hello Wael and welcome to the community. I'm sure you'll make lots of friends here because we are friendly. Also I'm glad you'd like to share your knowledge with us :XD:. Also check the hosting system if it interests you. I'm sure you won't be sorry. Happy posting and best of luck !

  18. Aye. Hand-sketched, although I didn't ink this one. I wanted a smoother, blended effect. And I overlaid the coloring as a reduced-opacity group of layers (I was limited to manipulating with a mouse and using Photoshop 7 for this work, which was the main motivation behind the time restrictions I mentioned before). When I have my full setup (CS2 + Wacom Intuos 3), then I give myself a lot more room to play and a lot more time to work on things.

Yep photoshop is clearly the most professional tool when it comes to designing . Awesome ones. Can't wait to see more!
