  1. Damn straight. Personally, I love unhealthy food. The greasier and less nutritious, the more delicious! But that's life, and I've grown to accept it- forcing myself to eat salads and soup, when I'd rather be tearing chunks of Donna Kebab from the spindle, and enjoying the melt in your mouth taste. My point is, my parents bought me up on a mixture of good and incredibly unhealthy food. My Scottish grandmother would give me a fry up breakfast, lunch and dinner whenever I came round, whilst my mum would give me lentils and humus. I turned out fine, and could understand the importance of selective eating and health from an early age.

That pretty much explains the rise of obesity in America. Since we are used to eating out on the weekends, or eating it as a treat, we see it as a delicious excuse, and everytime we do something good we feel that eating these foods is the reward. Especially some asian foods are heavy on oil, fried foods, butter, sugar, salt, and a heavy dose of spice. We seem to eat spices and salt in every food, and go and add some oil or butter since its too spicy or salty. In my culture im used to eating unhealthy, and even though we only eat vegetables, just eating pure starches and proteins that are either fried or pan-roasted is not teaching us that vegetables are good for us.

  2. I'm sorry, is iPhone a book? anyway...There's no sense in that. eBook readers do much more than just view iphone app books or whatever. iPhone is a toy/brick with a touchscreen. If you already have a phone and MP3 player, there is no sense in getting a new toy of course if you don't want iPhone anyway. And kinda ironic is when you're saying he's getting a bulky and expensive thing then you recommend him a small-screen phone that isn't any good when it comes to eBooks. You need a good-sized screen to read, not some 3" touchscreen.
    -Baniboy

I wouldn't push him too the side like that. The iPhone or an iPod Touch make great e-Readers if you've actually used the Barnes and Noble or Kindle or the Stanza app I wouldn't say that reading on it is a pain. Its a great device for reading especially if you need to read a manual or a longer book. Its pretty well organizes and also syncs with your desktop. Stanza lets you transfer your own personal collection no matter what the format, be it even the Amazon format, while being DRM-laden its actually compatible with the iPod Touch, so you don't need to ignore the fact that it is a rather ubiquitous device. If you haven't tried reading on it then you can't complain, most of the e-Reader apps like Classics for example makes it rather enjoyable because it lowers the contrast a bit, and provides soft colors that are easy on the eyes. You can turn down the brightness as well if that annoys you. The Kindle is an overpriced device, that does a single task, and in reality, why would you spend all your money buying books that are about the same price digital or hardcopy, when you can't make more than one copy of it.

I think you should really take a look at the product in real life before you buy it. Because there is a chance that the screen will annoy your eyes. I would go with Kindle as it has a bigger development team. I'm suspicious when it comes to Amazon's actions tho. Because I heard that it deleted an eBook from all Kindles. I wouldn't like to be monitored and controlled like that. So I say go get one that doesn't annoy your eyes(and has a good screen size), is affordable and so on. The fact that this thing contains an MP3 player should say something. If you already have a MP3 player, I recommend going with one that is more focused on the reading part.
I don't own an eBook reader so don't take my word for this.
    -Baniboy

You are correct here, when you say that you do need to try it before you buy it though. The new nook should be available instores at Barnes and Noble, but even the pre-orders haven't been delivered and the device seems to be bloated and slow at the moment. Kindle is the leading application right now, but now that Stanza has released a converter for Kindle books you don't need to worry about losing the Amazon store for e-books. Stanza for desktop converts the book into an e-book format and then you can add it on the nook now. Its the same idea how people were doing the same for Amazon Mp3s into the itunes store although that would work in the opposite direction. I believe that Amazon is turning into a pre-Apple, they want to restrict their customers to a small circle, and hold them hostage. The cool*er E-reader isn't much of a threat because it lacks its own store, doesn't have any apps that sync it with other devices, doesn't have a mainstream desktop app, a store like Amazons or a brick and mortar prescence in the book industry like Barnes and Noble, or even the brand recognition of Sony, although Sony does have its own online store

  3. Hey Wayne welcome to the forums, I really like that signature of yours. Lol

"There is only 10 types of people....Those who know binary, and those who don't"

My friend has the a same shirt like yours, except well he has pi, the symbol written out in binary, to what digit who knows. It seems rather interesting. Well I digress, this forum is pretty awesome, you can post on pretty much any topic in the world. Come to the mobility section though, thats where I am, oh and since you do seem to like GFX based on that signature of yours, I would join the graphics section, and apply for the trap 17 graphics crew. I still don't know what we exactly do, since the forum is sorta dead right now. Hoping more people will post there and discuss graphics and print design in general. Are you proficient at linking together forums and other systems together. I was looking for some help in linking wordpress and phpbb3 together. I want my users to register through wordpress and then be able to log in at phpbb3 as well, so they can post topics in wordpress and discuss them more in the forums. However this isn't for my Xisto hosting, so just PM if you have any solutions or reccomendations for that.

  4. Wait are you really being serious here? 90% of the people who got Swine Flu were treated quickly and those who had a severe attack because of asthma and other respitory ailments they took a bit longer, and those with respitory illnesses were the ones who died when they got swine flu. AIDS is a virus, there's no fixing it. You can try to delay it, but you're gonna die and suffer for the rest of your life, its a horrible, horrible, horrible disease. It ravages your immune system, and slowly removes the joys of being able to go outside and if you get sick, its just a day or two of relaxing, while AIDS removes that pleasure from you, every minor infection must be avoided in order to prevent serious respitory illnesses such as pneumonia. Swine Flu doesn't even compare. Its a variation on the Flu, and dies out in your body pretty quickly. There is no vaccine for aids, although there is a vaccine for swine flu. You just can't compare a disease that destroys your life, to a somewhat misnomer of a pandemic, which infact is basically a glorified version of the common flu.

  5. HTC Leo is Windows Mobile I believe. The best way is to forward your messages to your email inbox, and then take those and print them. There should be an option to forward it via that method, unless there's copy and paste. I doubt there's a simple function for something like that though, you can call up your provider, and they can mail you or give a copy of the messages to you if thats what you're looking for. I assume you want to a copy of them, instead of a specific one. The provider can usually get a copy provided they aren't deleted. If they are the only way is to get a warrant for them, if they really are that important, that involves the police though so I doubt thats what you want.

  6. 1. Virus: Very Very Very difficult because a virus maybe won´t go to damage all the servers and all the computers to practically "destroy" the internet... The virus maybe can damage a huge percentage of servers in the most destructive situation but the internet will be online if some computers can mantain their online status...
    2. International Cooperation: This possibility is futurist...., excuse me I have seen the 2012 movie twenty minutes ago... If someday the human race need to be disconnected for security purposals this way can be done... All the servers in the world will be disconnected and the satellites shut down...

    3. Destroying the satellites: Yeah if you some day can destroy all the international comunication you only have to destroy all the satellites that are in the earth orbit and you will go to incomunicate to all the planet... Maybe this can be a technologic terrorist attack...

    4. Disconecting the electricity: Without electricity there is no comunication because the differente devices work with electricity... It´s a very difficult way to destroy the internet but is very possible...

None of these ways would provide a way to disable the internet. The real way is to destroy all devices that have the capability to connect to each other. The internet is the network all the connections in the world, it is the sum total of all the connections at one time, as long as two devices are connected via a method that distrubutes data, the internet still exists. It'ts basically impossible unless all but one device is gone, and even then its still impossible, because its pretty simple to build something back from the rubble. In reality the internet is everywhere nowadays.

  7. Just to let you all know its available for all Maemo devices that includes all the nokia tablets, the n900 is basically a tablet retrofitted with a mic and a 3g radio. I heard its really fast, and the n900 display at the nokia store let me download the current alpha/beta whatever it is right now. Its pretty fast and easy to manage, but Opera still blows everything else out of teh water. Its been there for so long that we just assume that its the best, because of the integration between all versions, especially with the new unite stuff. I'm hoping it comes to android though.

  8. Although you can define your intelligence by two methods, either by brainmass or by the level of activity in your mind, there is another method which takes in both amounts, by creating a ratio of brain matter to activity in each section of brain and then finding the ratios in left and right brains depending on the type of intelligence, either skill or memorizations. Its hard to actually test that. You can't generalize a race based on a few test subjects, there are deviations, and still racism is a horrible deed. Its wrong and immoral to say that you are better than a group of people over a couple of test results. Its the average intelligence which you are saying defines the actual racist, which I challenge.

For instance DaVinci created his painting works based on this proportion and although Van Gogh never actually set out for the Golden Proportion, in his illustrations it was shown that when he first started his pencil sketches they were far "off" Golden Proportion, but after two years of development as an artist his sketches had become "very" close to those proportions.
Some researches did a study on Elizabeth Hurley and what they found were the proportions of her face closely resembled that of the rules set out in the Golden Proportion. This includes the proportion of body parts to each other not just facial aspects. Likewise the Fibonacci sequence is another example which illustrates the concept of perfectness contained in nature and art/design.

Thats is completely what I was trying to say. The actual intelligence is not based on the norms of society. You can't measure something that has limitless bounderies and is always changing. You can't measure something that excceeds your comprehension.

  9. Its a really interesting read, cause I always wanted to know what schools are open as an option for me. I really do enjoy science and computers, but I don't know if that is a rewarding career choice. No matter what I do its the learning option that I love, even if its a mundane subject, I can find something that I can understand and relate to. Thats how I got into FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference (SLC) and the National Leadership Conference (NLC). I do very much enjoy them and I really do wish that there is something that combines both without risking my future on an entreprenueral stake.

I applied to the New York Institute of Technology with the on site admissions interview at my school. I was immediately accepted with at least a $15,000 scholarship. I could get more after sending my ACT scores and deciding to play tennis for them. If I decide to go there, I'll be at the Old Westbury Campus studying under the 7 year BS/DO program.
I applied to St. John's University for their 6 year Pharmacy Pharm.D Program. I'm pretty sure I can get into there. I didn't get my reply yet but I will soon.

I applied to Northeastern University for their 6 year Pharmacy Pharm.D program. It'll be harder to get into there than it is to get into St. John's University. I'll get my reply sometime in Spring most likely. I didn't get my reply yet. This is my only out of state application.

I like those options the most actually. My uncle went to St. Johns Pharmacy Program, and he ended being pretty successfull but I don't know how hard it is. When I went for the open campus meet it was pretty intense the way the guy talked. I hoped I was even close to teh level he's talking about, and the GPA is difficult to mantain and especially since your money at the campus is dependant on your grades. If you get that BSDO program I would take it right away. Its a great way to become a doctor, especially cause you don'tneed to deal with the Mcats and medical school and all that stuff.

  10. "I believe that Google purposely leaked their information in order to make a scene and get more publicity. It's a marketing tactic that I learned in my College Marketing class in the Academy of Finance. I'm not so sure about your opinion. True, the Google Nexus One has a faster processor than the Motorola Droid. However, is there much more that's better?"

I don't doubt that for a second. These companies are always looking for free fodder for their businessy schemes dragging in people into their wretched conglomerates minute by minute, day by day, year by year. I see that Google is also a reputable business, but they usually don't hype stuff before its in Alpha or Beta versions, however their aquisitions hint at most of their topics, such as google wave and voice, grandcentral, not sure were wave came from though. Speed does make a difference, although the Droid does run a ARM processor by TI, those are some of the better ones, and are better suited for actual computers, so the snappiness might be on the core itself over the actual mhz/ghz speed, as in the structure of the cortex instead of the hertz frequency in the chips. However none of these phones so far have a system on a chip save for ACER Liquid, or HTC HD2, which is actually snapdragon, the others require seperate parts for the mobo or the phone equivalent.

  11. The Academy of Finance and the Future Business Leaders of America have taught me a lot of things. I've learned that I can do lots of stuff in the Business world. Entrepreneurship, computer skills, management, accounting, business law, and all that stuff is really cool. I love it all so much. Yet I still have no clue what I want to do in life. Isn't that so ironic?

There's so much more than just those thinks you listed. You can go into marketing. I really love the two marketing classes i took there. The Entertainment marketing class and the sports marketing classes were riveting. I learned a lot of tips and tricks for making your own business. I saw that there are pretty rewarding careers in management and in planning. There are so many oppurtunities but I think that you should think about looking into those marketing classes. Aren't they required by Academy seniors anyway. I think Mr. Nails and Ms. Rafiq are awesome at teachign that clase, even though I took it as a sophmore with all seniors, who did give me some ideas for future schools and careers. Did you get accepted anywhere yet?

I applied for different colleges for different majors. I applied to Baruch, NYU, Molloy, Stony Brook, Columbia, NYU Poly, NYIT, St. John's, and Northeastern. Columbia, NYU Stern, and Northeaster will be hard to get into. Wish me luck!

you listed a lot of places but never said if you got accepted.

  12. 5) Fonts: Remember if you stray from using the standard fonts that everyone has installed on their computers (such as Arial, Verdana, Times New Roman) the viewer won't see your fonts as intended. Your users' computers will display your site in their default fonts. Stick to standards. If you must have a certain font used you'll have to turn it into a graphic to maintain its look.

Actually this shouldn't hold you back since you can use the now-implemented utility in CSS. Its called @fontface, and its probably the best design tool you can use. Even IE can work here, and basically every browser can work with either EOFF or opentypefonts except IE which only works on EOFF but fontsquirrel can also help you there. Font Squirrel also provides free fonts that have commercial licenses so you can just mass convert them using their tool. Its at fontsquirrel.com, its a really usefull site, just like dafont.com but it has only ones that you can use everywhere without linking back.
Most of your tips are usefull but I wouldn't always foster a community like you said in:

    6) Make It Sticky: Include interactive features if possible, such as live news feeds. Check out http://www.lexisnexis.com/en-us/products/newsdesk.page for tons of news feed topics you can paste into your site for free. Use chat rooms, discussion boards, etc. You want to create a sense of community where people will want to return.
    7) Newsletter: If you're going to have a website you need to offer a newsletter, even if it's strictly going to be about sale items, specials or site updates. You need to start collecting a list of your visitors' email addresses so you can keep in touch with them. Ezines help to keep your site fresh in the client's mind and helps to establish trust and credibility. For more on how to start your own ezine see http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Instead I would work on providing content before community. By relying on community you lose the chance to become your own person and your site looks like another forum or facebook or a myspace. You need to provide the content not the users, in order to make it obvious that you are looking to improve the world with your site, not just gain some quick bucks of google adwords or adsense, whatever its called these days.

  13. I'm also a part of the Academy of Finance. The Academy of Finance is a business program in my school that provides me with 24 college credits, a summer internship, and an opportunity to become a valedictorian or salutatorian. I am almost done with all the courses and almost have all 24 credits. I completed my summer internship at Citibank. I'm on the road to becoming valedictorian. The top 4 students in the Academy of Finance get to be part of an exclusive club known as the Financier's club. The top student becomes the president, 2nd best would be vice president, 3rd best would be secretary, and 4th best would be treasurer. I'm the president of this club. I've applied to several colleges because I'm not sure what I want to do yet.

Wow, I can't believe that there's another Academy student here as well. I'm also one, I'm a year younger than you. Are you in NHP? If you are thats really scary. I know the president of the financier's club is also named Bejoy. His last name is some sort of tomato sauce they dip with mozarella sauce but im not sure if its the same as yours. Wuts your last name? Does it start with an M? I really love the Academy of Finance, its really awesome. I always loved the state strips and winning competitions. It introduced me to the world of Databases and actually taught me what I know about mySQL today and showed my how the design of a page can be written in lines that say right left and point to a couple of images.

  14. Confiker infecting my USB, I've basically scrubbed it down with every reputable antivirus company that i know if in live cd mode, but it wouldn't delete since I got it from school, i basically took a hammer and broke it down since I didn't trust it no longer. Didnt want to stick it in by mistake in the future and reintroduce the confiker worm after it completely disappeared. No way in hell would I want to do that. I still keep the remains as a tribute to all the fallen USB drives in the horrible, horrible, horrible attack of Confiker on our prestigious internet. Anyone else ever get infected? Its pretty bad when that happens, cause every antivirus picks it up but none of can confine or delete it when it first came out and in the school's intranet it spread all over and infected all the machines, they even replaced them this year because of residue from the cleanup.

  15. Has anyone heard about that new android in the wild? The newly christening Nexus One by/with Google has been announced all over twitter. I'm not sure whether Google announced it themselves yet, but I doubt they will announce anything yet since they haven't given it an official name yet. Its said that Nexus One is just a code name, but the colors do remind me of the windows logo. The direction as well. Strange that Microsoft and Google share the same colors in their logos, yet and are far different companies, but in recent years and even more now have finally gone head to head. Google Docs versus full-fledged Office and Office Web. Gmail versus Live Mail. The best one so far has been Bing! and Google Search. I believe that Google is still winning, but microsoft has parternered with so many companies that bing has become the default for verizon customers, and optimum but I believe they still work with ask. I'm not always certain on these things

    But I digress.

The phone is the issue here. The thing about this android phone is that it runs the best specs on the market currently available. There is no phone that is better than this so far, well except the HTC HD2 but that runs Windows Mobile and in reality Windows Mobile is dead and in the grave, all the HD2 is give it a chance to win over the approval of these geek reviewer sites and inspire a new theme in HTC's own name, which Microsoft has not taken to their advantage.

The core of this machine is a monster, the same guts of the HTC HD2 but its running Android 2.1 instead. It has a smaller screen about the same size as the Iphone 3gs, and is actually thinner than the 3gs. It has a rubber back and feels like a non-cheap phone according to Gizmodo, more on that later.

The best part of the phone is the snapdragon processor running on the full 1 ghz, regular clocked instead of under clocked and capable of being overclocked past 1 ghz even.

I really can't believe that the droid has just been beat not even a month after the release. Its been destroyed pretty fast. I also think that is the other name for the Passion/Dragon/Bravo.

"Google just gave Motorola (and Verizon) a swift shot to the TSTS, because the Nexus One is astonishingly faster than the Droid. The speed dominance was most evident when we compared the loading of webpages, but even when you're just scrolling around, launching apps and moving about the OS, you could tell that there's a beefier brain inside the N1. I don't know the specs for sure, but there's talk of a 1GHz processor being inside, which would push it quite a ways above the 550MHz Arm A8 in Motorola's newest toy."

    -Gizmodo

The only problem is the lack of multitouch. I recently god an ipod touch and love that functionality, it brings a new aspect to all the games, and when playing two player games its impossble wihtout multitouch. I can zoom into fields play Tap Tap Revenge 3 or play field runners with a friend. However the Nexus one comes baked with hardware multitouch but google avoids lawsuits from apple buy keeping that out of its own apps, but other apps have the SDK for running their own multitouch apps, granted apple won't sue them.

"If Google's planning on releasing this phone as their official Google phone, it'll certify them as the premium Android phone brand out there right now. Even though it doesn't have a hardware keyboard, it basically beats the hell out of the Droid in every single task that we threw at it. And face it, some people didn't like the Droid's keyboard because it was too flush and the keys were too unseparated with each other. N1's onscreen keyboard felt fine, and the speedy processor made sure that each key was interpreted well." - Gizmodo

  16. Wow thats pretty awesome, anyone know anything for a Java BREW based phone. I'm running the standard dumbphone OS my verizon phone and would love some new backgrounds and themes. I can just take pictures and transfer pictures for wallpapers but I would love a new theme. The default and the options are pretty bad, since gradients don't work well on a low resolution screen. I seriously think they need to work on fitting a better graphics option into some of these phones, especially the texting ones, cause the contrast makes me want to burn my eyes. Some of these sites want me to sign up for something. Is it like the 10 dollars a month for that ringtones type stuff. I hope not, I don't want something like that to ever happen to me again. I signed up for free ringtones back when I was younger, but then I got charged like 200 dollars for the first month, and they said it wouldn't happen.

  17. I'm planning on getting it in January, my dad said that he's getting a discount then so he's gonna buy it for our family then, I think the family pack deal is still up, I heard it closed down on Gizmodo, but their always going on about sales that don't last more than a day. Anyone got any reviews on it. I saw that it was really well reviewed everywhere, but I think it just looks like a new explorer shell for Vista and some basic changes. I really don't want to lose the Screen Real estate though, since the taskbar takes more room now and the windows are larger, i saw that also with aero skins now. I also don't want to loose some of my more important apps. I don't want to lose my stuff and take a month of production work, especially in the greatest year of my high school life, and re-make it into a usable machine again, cause I work on a site for my uncle and I have other graphics based needs to get to.

  18. Instead of doing that for my remote, I gave up on even using my TV nowadays. I got so frustrated losing my remote all the time, I just went out and bought a HTPC in order to circumvent that. I installed a TV Tuner and hooked it up to the TV (Its basically a huge monitor since I never really turn it off, PC is basically always running. then I put the boxee app on my Ipod Touch and now I just turn on the HTPC with the ipod touch and the monitor is always on and I can just navigate using the keyboard next to me or my touch, either or works now. I mean its also another solution for those of us who want to organize our media collection and have moved away from the TV age and moved to the digital streaming age.

  19. I actually believe it is difficult to create a good website however, making a website that you want to share with others and just use to express your own belief is probably the easiest. Its simple if you take the time and look over how other sites generate revenue, traffic, and overall display their content and also you should look at how using your website to its maximum extent. There are tons of other sites that can teach you how to become SEO efficeint or Search Engine Optimization, you can learn how to write amazing blog articles or build buzz around your site and the best way to generate revenue whether through advertisments or sales. If you require any links I can help you with that. Also if you need help with XHTML or CSS I believe I am adequate enough to teach you the basics if HTML or designing in general is becoming difficult for you.

  20. Lol, there are so many phones with TV now, most up to date Verizon media dumbphones even have it now. My current phone has a 6 month free subscription from Verizon, while it is a very expensive plan with poor reception, its not that bad on the battery life, its nothing but satellite tv with some more functionality, and better quality so it shows up on the phone nicely.

  21. It might not be spam at all you know. He could have made a thread about something, and it was flamed and he flamed back, and when the thread got out of control it was deleted, a single thread can earn you a lot of myCents if used properly. I make around 30 cents a post, so its pretty easy to get 10 dollars off a rather long post, or even an article that was quoted for about 10 dollars, you never know.

  22. I have got to say the worst phone I've ever seen is the LG Venus. I don't know the Motorola Name's stateside, because well, we don't get any good phones and the best I've seen in a while is the iPhone and the Palm Pre. We don't get HTC Windows Mobile phones, strange because Windows Mobile is a USA company, by Microsoft. Why is your phone the worst? I bet it can't compared to how slow my phone is on loading and moving around and actually 911, and its even a damn dumbphone, not a smartphone. I can forgive that for multi-threading and multi-tasking, but this is based on a carrier's OS not even the Phone OS.

  23. I would prefer the iPhone. For now that is actually. The Palm Pre does look promising but I don't know whether its that great or not. It doesn't have an appstore but the homebrew jailbroken store does look pretty good, but its full of shoddy apps and alpha software. I wouldn't recommend getting anything out of there at all. The keyboard I heard is kind of cramped and you don't get the same feeling as a regular messaging phone keyboard like the EnV Touch, it causes blisters because you need to press harder and the keys slip easily. I tried one out at the Sprint Store the feel of the phone felt solid, and really aesthetically beautiful. Its a phone that would easily match the iPhone on simplicity and looks. The functionality is solid with the deck of cards feature. Its a great phone in its own right but it can't match the apps and dedicated music functionality of the iPhone. you can't do better than that, unless you can offer a really good soft keyboard and full API and that user support.

  24. I've been playing around with my friend's Samsung Omnia, and I have got to say its one of the worst and most annoying phones ever, well not as bad as my LG Venus, life's good is so not true with that phone. I would try using the stylus with a little more force than tapping, because of its resistive nature it cannot work without pressure. You can try calibrating the settings, its mostly because of the processor and Windows Mobile itself. You can try going to Verizon and seeing whether they will do anything about it. Its a slow phone, I don't know the actual processor, but its not comparable to the RIM Blackberry Storm.
