  1. This is a brain teaser someone told me years ago.A man who owns a radio store was waiting for his son to arrive so he could go and pay some bills at the post office, after his son had arrived he gave him strict instructions that if anyone came into the store wanting to buy anything that to let them know that he was only gone for five minutes and the father would help them when he returns and the son was not to sell anything while he was gone.Just after dad left 3 people enter the store, they had just rented a flat and had $10.00 each to put in for a radio. After a minute or so the flat mates found a radio they like but it had no price on it, they asked the son how much it was. The son remember what his father told him but wanted to prove he was a good salesman, he looked at the radio and told the trio that it was $30.00, Perfect! they all pulled $10.00 out of their pockets and brought the radio and left. The father returned just moments later and straight away noticed the radio was gone, he asked his son where the radio was and the son proudly told him about the sale. The father ask him how much he sold it for and the son replied $30.00, the father was furious as the radio was only $25.00 and didn't want people to think he was a ripoff, so he instructed the son to take $5.00 and chase after the flatmates to return the overcharge. The son left the store and noticed the customers down the street, as he was getting closer to them he realised he could not split $5.00 three ways so he decided to keep $2.00 for him self and give the flatmates $1.00 each which meant they only paid $9.00 each for the radio. So in the end the Math should work like thisEach flatmate paid $9.00 for their share of the radioThe son kept $2.00SO $9 x 3 = 27 + $2 = $29 where is the missing dollar.
  2. I have experienced the same problem this week, my whole system started to slow down (Pen 4, 3.2 giga herty thingy...512 ram...XP..) Programs took forever to open, the mouse was even lagging, my hard drive has 176 gigs free! so its not a space problem so i ran nortons..spybot and nothing found, So i started to clean up my system deleting programs i never use then looked at the system startup and current processes but still no clue. I did notice that when my system was Idle ( no programs open) my broadband connection was active, now i know some programs like windows and nortons do auto updates but this went on for three days and then all of a sudden stop and my system was fine, i get the feeling i may of been well and truely hacked but i get a bit paranoid about that issue. I have found something on my computer that i have no idea how it got there, its a network connection for a school in the UK. I found in "My Network Places" on my system, it has a icon of a folder with a network connection with the URL "maidstonegirlsgrammar.kent.sch.uk; listed on it. When i type in into explorer i get a "403 forbidden" page, i don,t know why its on my computer but i am going to post to see if someone can help me find out whats in it.
  3. I think the internet is where you can make big money for little outlay, it looks like most of the people here who have websites do there own design and programing using Html, PHP and Mysql. These are very powerful tools if you have learnt them and they are not hard to learn, i am self taught on all three and learnt by reading tutorials on the web i then brought books and learnt more. If you know how to design a website with the above three then i think you are halfway there, being that you don,t have to pay for design and development, the inital cost of any web business would have to be design especially if it requires a database. You can do it for free and at your own pace and while you work, the internet is still in its infancy and will be around long after we are dead and gone so there no rush to get it all done next week.Web design can require alot of your time so pick carefully what you do with it, i started about five years ago put all my time into a project which i gave up on after about 6 months and haven,t done any web work until now, why because i lost interest in what i wanted to and thought i was all to hard to make any money unless you had plenty to get started. I have some what change my view since then and below is some of my thoughts.1. I believe there is no more "quickmoney" to be made on the internet (legally) if you know of any any please let me know. Its all take time to build a good site and attract traffic.2.You don,t need a tangible product to make money from the internet. dating sites or job sites don,t have tangible products. They are sites where people put information that other people want and usually pay to do so. The internet is the information highway and we are paying for that information more and more everyday.3.History does repeat itself on the internet. Just like in real life how many time do you see a petrol (Gas) station across the road from another petrol (Gas) station, do you think the guy who built the second one thought that it was no use building a petrol station across the road form the first guy because he had the market cornered Hell No! he/she would of looked at the market and seen there was enough traffic to support both businesses and after a few price wars it all settle down and they both have a profitable business. The worlds population is growing not reducing, the number of internet users is growing at a rapid rate not declining so there is plenty of room to build your "petrol (Gas) station" on the web.4. What is your market?. Globle, National, Statewide, Local. This is an important factor when deciding on what internet business you want to provide, are there any "non Tangible" services you can provide in you local area or state. Most people who want to meet other people don,t like to travel to far, Maybe a local dating service or specialised local job market. CD's and Books are easy to distribute thru the mail but what about Organic food and Vegies these need to have a more specialised delivery systems and usually supplied locally, what else falls into the same category.5. Traffic? Well if its a Global or National business you would want then list with as many free search engines as u can and hope for the best or spend big money on advertising in the media and web campains and direct traffic to your site that way.Building a site that is suited for the state or local market can be a better option as you can advertivse your domain fairly cheaply in the local papers or put up flyer around the communtiny. Start small and expand to other areas as u grow.6. Research, research and research. Find out who doing what and how, can you find a nice market to slide into. List down all the information site you can find and are people paying for the information, can you duplicate it in you area.7.Cost. If you can do your own web design then it should be cheap. Domain name for $70 and hosting for $300 per year with decent bandwidth should get you going and if you get plenty of traffic then you have want people want so charge them for it.

  5. Australian Schapelle Corby 27 has been sentenced to 20 years jail for smuggling just over 4 kg's of marijuana into Bali (Island of Indonesia) from Australia. The trial has capture the interest of the Australian public due to the circumstances surrounding the case. Schapelle Corby left Brisbane airport for a holiday to the resort Island of bali, she caught a domestic flight to sydney with here brother and two friends there she transfered to a international flight to Bali. It was in Bali that the marijuana was discovered in her boogie board bag by Indonesian custom officers. From the outset Schapelle Corby denied the marijuana was hers and had no idea how it got into her boogie board bag.(what right minded smuggler would admit it was theirs anyway) A few aspects of the case has lead to most Australians believing that Schapelle Corby might be telling the truth. Firstly its seems that the value of the drugs would be less in bali then in Australia and the trafficing of marijuana usually happens the other way round (Indonesia to Australia) where the value would be greatly increased also it seems that Sydney Airport baggage handlers were impicated as the likey source of the drugs as the "Australian Federal Police alleged that one airport contact led a team of Sydney baggage handlers that was paid $300,000 to smuggle 9.9 kilograms of cocaine in a suitcase past Customs last October" and a Qantas baggage handler has been sacked. Did a baggage handler put the drugs in the wrong bag and Schapelle Corby is innocent, a victim of circumstance and gets 20 years, a scary thought. Does organised crime synticates control drug traffic thru Shipping ports and Airports.
  6. Hmmm, i would have to go with the bears, maybe you could play dead. With the sharks they woundn't care wether you alive or dead when they tear you in two.orIf you where a goner in both situations then maybe with the sharks you could drown yourself then you wouldn't have to live thur the pain and horror, not that you would have any memory of the event because you would be dead.
  7. The big issues really depend on where stand in todays society, for the sick it would be there health, the poor it would be money, for the homless it would be somewhere to sleep at night and for the rich its staying away for the above. From here the issue's we face everyday run into the hundreds, from the time we wake up in the morning to when we go to bed we are bombarded with information. What we should or should not eat, how much exercise you should or should not do, GM foods, bird flu, sars, ebola, Marburg haemorrhagic fever, Oil prices, Aids, job security, kids, north korea, iraq and don't forget those killer comets running around the solar system just waiting for our planet to be in the right spot to take us all out!The less we worry are life the quicker we get to live it. We should only worry that others get the help they need. The people should never forget Rwanda, because their Governments did.
