  1. if you talking about quality go with Apple and Sony VAIO, just a little pricy laptops but they are great! Believe me, I got both of them :)

yes Apple is good for buying a laptop. personally I think you would be better off with it. I hate windows and i hate Windows wanna bees. Mac has an operating system that blows other OS's out of the water. PLus the Laptop is in a better more operable shape then any of the other laptops that conist windows on it.

  2. Well I wouldn't say a product is bad just because it comes with poor customer support. Quality matters more to me than customer support. My very first computer was a Compaq and I do not recall having problems with it. I also second what the other say. Your notebook may have been damaged due to poor packaging, mishandling by the movers and even the technicians themselves. Unless my product is covered by warranty, I would hire someone to come to my house to repair the product, even if he is not from the company's support personnel, or I would try to fix it myself. Shipping results in a lot of complications

Hey i like how you think about things. but i know that hp/compaqs aren't the best. I have both compaq and hp. and i have a friend that has a hp and never got the internet, and got slower than ever. Defraged everyday. i just think they put the cheapest componets in the computer so that they can charge more.

  3. I think that macs and windows are nice to have in the same business. For instance. Such as a web design business. I would give the Designers a MAC. For the Adobe programs. Since mac is a design OS. Then i would let everyone else have windows. Such as techs, and secretaries. They need them also. But macs should be limited to certain people that need to use them. Like I'm a web designer and all i have is Windows Computers. I want to get a Mac, so that i can have a better design computer. When you try running Adobe on Windows computers, it takes up a lot of computer usage. Then you computer becomes slow and unstable. Unlike Mac, they will run Adobe programs and still keep the stability up. I think thats what i need to do is get a mac.So if any of you like me want to start a Web Design Business, and don't know what kind of computers to get for your designers, think about macs, it will make you and your designers more satisfied. I know i will when i get my business started.williamm@clubnet-host.com

  4. Unless you are using vmware or something to run the two operating systems side by side, it won't slow down the computer at all. You are just reading different partitions on the harddrive. Imagine an opperating system is a book. Now you wouldn't be able to read two books at the same time two fast, but if you could choose one book to read and only one at a time, you would be able to read it very efficiently.

Ok i see, That makes alot more sense now that i look at it. Well i'm considering to get a mac, for my design work.

  5. It can be very simple!!!
For example, if you are not good in HTML, CSS and all other stuff, you can do it easy way. Download a template, you can find one with GOOGLE, and then, find a help in GOOGLE again, or a tutorial about HTML ccripts. You can download Eversoft 1st webpage if you do not have expirience in programing sites, it has a lot of scripts reday for use, or you can work your pages in Macromedia Dreamweaver, a new version is 8, but if you do not know anything about codes and programming, you should for start use Microsoft Publisher 2003, and help provided with it... It should be easy...

Hey i wouldn't recomend starting off with a template. I think what you should do is look for HTML tutorials so that you can learn the basic and know what you are doing in templates. Then you can start getting into more stuff. You don't start off in a template if you have no idea what you are doing. You need to learn the language first.

If you need any help i'm a web designer, its my job. My email is williamm@clubnet-host.com don't be shy. I will help.

  6. where did you read about windows 7 because i was telling my dad to buy windows vista and now im not sure if he should buy it. when do you think there going to to come out with the new windows :) please i really need feedback about the widows because if there going to come out with a new one i don't want my dad to waste his money

I don't know when exactly windows 7 is coming out, but they are making this new windows because microsoft ammited that they screwed up vista and they want to make a new windows that is more user friendly. But if you want to get a computer go to the store online and customize if your self and you can downgrade to windows xp. I would personaly downgrade to xp, it would be more easier to use and you will not get frustrated and throw the computer out the window. Not a good idea trust me, been down that road lol i know what it feels like to be frusrated.

  7. I like linux for some reasons, such as its free, it has a great outlook. Reminds me a lot of the mac, of the skins they have. Just things like that its pretty nice. Its not so complicated as windows is sometimes. User friendly. Very easy to handle and to install. I think the installing of it is amazing how simple it is. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to you know try other things that windows.

  8. Did anyone mention the ability to completely customize your system? And did I mention I just LOVE Linux?
I just started learning Perl, and already I'm writing insane scripts, that actually work fast, and get the job done... That's right... I wrote a simple email filter for Evolution mail, in Perl, and it works... No learning ability, just simple straightforward filtering, based on rules, black- and white-lists... Also, an email checker... Sometimes I just want to see if I have emails, and who from... Piece of cake, I check all of my accounts, and get a number of new emails, and if I want, sender and subject...

Yeah, you could do that on Wintendo too, but it would cost you much more, and would take much more time... One just has to love the command line :)

Khm... What? :P What's a lot? Any company that wants to increase their profit, switch from Wintendo to one of Linux distros... When you know Linux, you're a guru, when you know Wintendo, you're a user... See the difference? And I wouldn't call Wintendo universal - I'd call it... Hmm... No, I wouldn't call it at all... And that gaming thing? Well, believe it or not, the world doesn't revolve around games...
Wintendo is hard for newbies too... Because you are used to Wintendo, you claim Linux is hard... Yeah, right... I thought that too... Until I tried... And guess what, Linux actually makes a lot of things EASIER than in Wintendo...

Gnome or KDE or other WMs are also straightforward... And explained... Perhaps even better than Wintendo... Synaptic (for example) enables one to install/uninstall EVERY piece of software there is... And no registry to be broken...
I'll agree with rvalkass on this one... I didn't have the need for drivers for any of my hardware - not my TV/FM card, my SBLive, network card,USB external hard drives, card readers, monitor, graphics cards, and the rest... All worked after installation... Only drivers I had to download were generic drivers for USB webcams... And it took me like 3 minutes...

Yeah, wobbly windows are dumb... But what about a rotating desktop? Isn't it coooool... :P Ok, let's get serious... Wintendo doesn't give you 100% liberty to cusomize... Gnome and KDE do... And if you install Beryl or some other effects engine... It get's even better... Wintendo will NEVER be able to have rotating desktop cube, running on 1GB RAM machine, with 64MB GFX card... I can bet on it...
Yeah, Wintendo doesn't load bunch of fonts into RAM memory, it doesn't have registry to fill up a little more of RAM, and also doesn't have unneccessary services running in the backround, and doesn't allocate 20% of resources to spy on you... Oh, wait, that's not right, that's Linux :D
I'm still trying to get my head around this one - and I can't... Wow... Windows is so cool... Yeah you have to pay for it, and have to pay for much of its software, but you get cool freebies - viruses... Jeez... You like viruses? I'll send you a few, to play around for a while :P... Seriousely, dude, this is not an argument, this is... I don't know what this is... As someone above said, prevention is better than a cure... It's like you said "There's a cool fancy restaurant, that charges $15 for a glass of water, but I just have to watch for the germs on the glasses, They've got a bunch of them, some of them nasty. But even if I catch a germ, I get to pay another $15, and they cure me. Sure there is some chance I'll lose an arm, but hey, it's a fancy restaurant. I just have to be smart, and avoid really nasty bugs, like AIDS and stuff. I could buy a microscope and check for those bugs - that would be top smart"...

Again, I'm not on a mission to convert anyone, but when I see a list like this, that is not based on real experience, but more on heresay, it ticks me off... Dude, if you're happy with Wintendo, keep using it, and good luck with it...

Hey can you tell me where is a good place for me to learn Perl?

  9. Just quad-boot a Mac, like I do. Seriously, I have Mac OS-X Tiger, Windows Vista (yuck), Windows XP, and Linux (OpenSuSE 11.0) all on my MacBook. I may write a post about how I accomplished that, but in the meantime, I'll just enjoy it.
Mac is the easiest and most user-friendly. Windows has the most software. Linux offers the most stability and gadgets and prettiness. I would love to get rid of Windows because of all the problems with it, but then I'd lose 2/3 of the programs I use on a regular basis. I would love to get rid of Mac, simply for price (it's outrageous!). I would love to go all Linux, but it's too much work. I still love showing it off though, with my Compiz Fusion and KDE4....

For a noob to computers or someone serious about media, go Mac.
For a "crowd-follower" and business person, go Win.
For a truly rewarding experience and a wonderful community, go Lin.
For all the features, quad-boot with rEFIt on Mac hardware like me.
For everything else, does MasterCard have an OS?

Lol i like your last statement does mastercard have an os? that was nice, I didn't know that you could quad boot that many systems on a macbook. lol you are going to have to tell me how you pulled that one off. I like your response. It was sincere. Right now i have to many windows computers, but i would like to purchass a Mac for my webdesign. and leave my gaiming computer for what i built it for lol.

But i like your idea get a mac and just multi-boot. Very smart. Now since you do that with a mac does it slow it down much? I mean i have never thought of doing that.

  10. I think you have a good computer going there, but i wouldn't play to much hard core games on that intel, It will most likely to over heat. If you clock it to much. Thats why i have a student computer that i built and then my gaming computer lol so much easier and don't have to worry so much about it. I think everything else is awesome though. I would go with the Nvida 8800 gt you will be amazed with it.That's the video card that i am working for right now. so that i can play crysis. I got that game for a graduation pressent and came to find that that i couldn't play it because of my video card. That sucks let me tell you lol.

  11. I'm using Intel Celeron, Northwood-128, 2.0GHz, that I overclocked to 2608MHz :P yeah, I know, where did those 8 MHz came from...
But, despite what all people keep saying, that Celeron is a crapy processor, I never had any problems with Celerons, and I had them a lot... It's same as Pentium, just has less L2 cache; a lot les :P

Anyway, I prefer Intel over AMD, 'cause I had some pretty bad experiences with AMD, and never want to see it in my machine... God damn thing actualy burned itself, and took the mohterbord with it... :)

I have a little bit to say about celerons and amd processors. First off. I have three computers with celeron proccesors. One is a Compaq, the another one is a Toshiba and the last one is a HP. I haven't had good experience with those processors, their slow, unstable and over heat way to fast. I think they are the worst processor that they made.

Now about the AMD, it sounds like you didn't have a nice cooling fan. Because i have an amd 64 x2 and its amazing, processes everthing faster than intel, doesnt over heat when proper use of fans. And better for gaming. I don't think that i could be anymore happy with the AMD processors.

  12. The most ofen that i install windows is 2 a year and thats with my toshiba laptop. This laptop that i have is the crapiest latop ever. It does the same thing over and over and over again. about every 6 months i turn it on and the blue screen of death comes up and i can never login and this isnt the blue screen of death windows 98 version this is windows xp homes . Yeah i thought they fixed that issue but apperantly not. so thats why i have to format and install twice a year. for that dumb laptop, if anyone knows anything about it i would be pleased to know, because i hate it.

  13. You must understand, I wasn't talking about programming the entire thing in javascript, javascript would just do most of the work and run the programs, it would have a secure connection to a server and send and receive all data from that. Trust me, I know enough about how different languages work to know better to try that.

Ok well i see what you are talking about, but will still argue the fact Javascript is not more secure than PHP. There is no way, i mean they made data bases just so that PHP is secure, to hold all logins and passwords, and other private data. There is no way that Javascript can handle any of that. It's to simple. To simple of a lanuage to hold Thousands apon Thousands of data. If and i mean if they even made Javascript that secure i wouldn't trust it. If you compare java and php's scritpting you can see right off the bat that its more secure.

  14. I actually wanted to make something like this. My idea was almost like eyeos. Programmed in javascript and a library for developers to program software for it. I never got around to finishing it due to lack of time, but I guess these guys beat me to it anyway.

You wouldn't be aboe to program something like in all java. I mean you also have to think about secity and java is not very secure language. I would suggest php or pearl. That might be something to think about. For one javascript does not have any databases, therefore, your information in strung out everywhere, pieces here and there. It would be slow frusrating and all the above. There is also loging in and user names, once again cant use javascript for that has to be in a dataase or someone is going ot be coding all the time non stop. and i'm sure that they will get up set. then you have to run prgrams, i think that is going to be the hardest thing to do on the web based OS.

  15. Ok i see where you are getting, i mean that would be nice and all but about ones privacy? if it is only controlled on one super computer then we don't have any privacy. Which is going agasint an admendment. Ok i now like your idea but its also still has tons of flaws. The subscription is nice no virus no program piracy, but i also don't think the subscription should be to high. I mean i only pay 20 dollars a month for dsl and i get alot of bandwith than most people do. then also that would defeat the purpose of networks in the house. I mean no more playing LAN only games and shared documents. What about those? I mean this is really that perfect, i mean you will be leaving out alot of things that started the internet. I like the over all idea just i dont want to leave networks behind i build and put together those things and i love doing it.

  16. i dont see how vista can rock, all i have seen vista do is piss me off. It freezes in just internet explorer, and its still incapatable with alot of stuff. I even installed something that was windows vista capable and it says thats its incompatable with with the current windows version. I think that vista was a big mistake. it hasen't helped us one bit just cause us pain and madness. cause of its unstable piece of crap windows. sorry i have had it with windows, i'm a true linux/mac person. i dont care what any windows user has to to say about them.

  17. but the bad thing about a browser operating system would be that it would be too slow and laggy. I don't think that i would have the patience for something of that sort. I barely have any patinece with windows at the moment. Vista has to be really dumb and be unstable. Thats enough for me dont need any thing else on my brain. Thats one thing that they shouldn't have done is create an operating system that can be controlled in a browser, thats going to far.

  18. I think cs is not a good multiplayer for that reason. I dont understand why people have to cheat, why can't they work their way upliek everyone else. I'm playing a FPS that i havent really seen anyone cheat on and its free. Its called combat arms. http://nximage.nexoneu.com/error/403.html?aspxerrorpath=/Intro.aspx that the link download it and try it out. see what you think. you can play it offline though, so if you like to play FPS's offline this game is not for you. Just thought i would put that out there just in case.
