  1. I have actually owned and ridden a Honda CR500 2-stroke motocross bike for a few years. This thing would eat you alive going in a straight line, never mind doing big jumps and other crazy stunts. 3rd gear wheelies, tire-shredding power, extremely fun and at times hair-raisingly frightening. A friend once asked me if he could get in a test-ride, and was a bit worried that he would damage the bike in a fall. My answer? "No problem, the bike will be fine. YOU, on the other hand, might get damaged beyond repair if you're not carefull". He was well impressed, the power2weight ratio is unbelievable. I met him a few weeks later while I was cruising a river with a few friends and he let me take his Jetski for a spin. That was fun too!
  2. - Old School, with some of my favourite actors (Will Ferrel and Jeremy Piven) but did not think it was super. 5/10- Anchorman, again Will Ferrel and Christina Applegate with a nice performance. 7/10- Saved; the first outstanding acting for Mcaulay Culkin. Nice film, not big on action, kind of everyday things going on and at the same time; riveting stuff... 9/10- Shaun of the Dead; Great, funny British parody of zombie-movies. 9/10
  3. It is an incredible sport, if you have ever played it. I have, and it is an extremely exhausting, intensive, strategic, physical sport. It's just like smoking; the secondhand stuff is positively vile, but doing it firsthand is absolutely great!
  4. I use XP and 98.At work I deal with Unix, VMS(!) and Server 2000.
  5. "This woman's work" by Kate Bush (and even the cover by Maxwell is very good, even though I allmost NEVER like covers)

    MMORPGs

I'm fascinated by them, but would never play them. The interesting part is also the dangerous part, allready mentioned by some here; the complete immersion into another world. You can be more than you are in real life, which will make you stronger at first, but if you get addicted and lose perspective, it can kill you. Fascinating stories about a chick running a whorehouse in the Simms world and making real money off it, or a guy perpetrating an enormous scam in a science fiction world; really fun stuff to read.
  7. Ultimately, D3 feels "flat". Because the story does not really "envelop" the player, the action feels empty. - go into a room/environment- get attacked by a menace- load the optimal gun for the assailant- plink away- go into next room- in case of death, reloadNot really a satisfying experience...
  8. As usual, beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder, but also completely subjective. Having a shouting match will not change your, and likely neither the other party's view on the "current babe in discussion"That said, remember that no matter how hot she is to you, some other guy is probably sick and tired of putting up with her crap. Simpson etc. are plenty likable when on camera, but that doesn't show her taking a dump after just having got up without a shower after a late night boozing. Now THAT is a scary sight, even for her!
  9. The first time I knew cars were hot was when the Lamborghini Countach came out. That should give you an idea of how old I am. A Supercar from the future, in the flesh. My first car was a Jaguar though (a 20-year old XJ6, now THAT car I LOVED) because I've allways been about elegance and luxury more than big spoilers and speed.Hail to the UK, home of the best car mag/program in the world; Top Gear!
  10. I have 5 harddisks, al with only one partition. They just seem to last forever, so they just get ferried to the next computer when I ugrade! C: System - 8 Gb D: Apps - 30 Gb E: Misc - 80 Gb F: CDRW G: MP3 - 120 Gb (on RAID controller) H: Video - 200 Gb (On RAID controller)
  11. Make that (the way you drew it) three rows, middle one with three columns.Or you could just make a page with a repeating background image, and put a one-cell table in the middle with a white (or whatever) background! Into which you could put anything you want; pictures, text, more tables...
  12. Don't background pictures in frames replicate themselves? Just make a page with frames; three columns, middle one with three rows. Put pictures in the outer frames, sized so that they interconnect upon replication.Or am I not understanding what you want?
  13. Bush jr is the stupidest president by a long stretch, no mean feat when you consider the competition. I'm amazed he is able to dress in the morning! Have a look at http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/, where asked about Indian tribal sovereignty issues, President Bush so fully flubbed his response that journalists in the room began laughing at him. These incidents (or should I say regular occurences) typify the man. Alienating the entire world, starting a WAR for PEACE? Then afterwards (though it's still going on) saying "O we gave them freedom" when all along it was against his supposed WMD. Go see Fahrenheit and tell me he's so great. He wouldn't be fit to wipe Washington's/Kennedy's butt, even IF he could find them. Getting off my soapbox now...
  14. Is it just me or is the music industry targeting an ever younger audience? Groups like 3LW, and more recently singers like Avril Lavigne, Joss Stone and Jojo seem to be the mainstay nowadays. Not that they are no good (although Joss Stone is clearly out of her depth covering such heavy songs, and Jojo (hopefully) does not even know what she is singing about) but come on; why are they expecting such heavy output from such young people?I am 36 now (yes I know, I'm the dinosaur here) and have been struggling with adult life/problems/expectations for half my life. And I'm allready sick and tired of it! Can you imagine how tired I would be if I had started living an "adult" lifestyle at 11/12? A 13-year old singing about relationships, cheating, and such? It might happen, but should not be the norm.At 13 you should be hangin'out, bumming around, having a laugh with your mates and experiencing the kid's life, without (too much) responsibility and problems. You've got the rest of your life to go through car-payments, taxproblems, relationships, career etc! Why start it early? "Get Out" is a nice song, but the SWV-cover "Weak" shows that she has no way NEAR the vocal ability/maturity to even come close to the great R&B performers (yet). So why throw here to the lions so early? She has great potential, but exposing her this young could kill that.2 cents an all that...
  15. It's #!usr/bin/perlI've got a script running on my site that starts with that line, and it's OK.
  16. Whaterver works for the owner/admin I guess. I don't mind the strange name as long as it is nice and short, so you don't have to remember a lot. What counts more for me is that the hosting is free, fast, no popups or ads, and relatively hasslefree to setup and maintain. And the Perl/SQL compatibility. Posting here is no big deal, as long as my users don't get bothered by ads and such "it's all good"
  17. Money for nothing and your chicks for free... Very few people get rich (or earn anything) on the internet, except for the big guys. Bannerhosting, popups, paymentscheme's... I don't know it all sounds like a bit of a ripoff to me. I, like most people, don't click banners (although Xisto is an exception, I want them to last) and close popups before they have even fully loaded. If you want money, get a real job. Or rob a bank, which however it turns out will get you some free food...
  18. Can't agree with you more! If I don't know them, they have no chance telling me anything. And I'm certainly not going to read whatever crap they think they should send me without my permission. I used to get annoyed when I received one of these scams, or chain-emails, or hoax viruswarnings. Now I just let Mailwasher delete it from the server before I start up my mailclient. Water off a duck's back...
  19. Well your english isn't really up to par to start with I speak dutch as my "mother-tongue". Belgian IS dutch (but with a heavy accent and some different words thrown in) I speak a moderate amount of german (what we call FlausKesselDeutsch, simply translating the words you don't know from dutch into "german-sounding" words) English works quite well for me. I hate the french (doesn't everybody?) so I can understand them a bit but I'm not making any effort to speak it. I speak sranantongo, the native Surinamese language Just a little bit of Javanese, a dialect of Indonesian spoken on the island Java and among their descendants in Suriname. I took spanish for a year in school but most of that has thankfully vanished from my memory.
  20. I use ZoneAlarm. Especially usefull for seeing what programs are trying to "phone home" without the user's knowledge. I HATE that. It should ASK me, not trying to sneak some kind of below-the-surface communication to wherever...
  21. The lead character from Duke Nukem. Very funny comments throughout the game. I played this game forever!

    DOOM 3!

I AM in fact eagerly awaiting Half Life 2, which is said to play well on DX6 compatible hardware (though you won't get al the "goodies", ofcourse)Doom isn't half the game HL was, though the first edition of Doom was no doubt groundbreaking.
  23. Can not find a topic on Non-computer games or hobbies anywhere, so I guess I'll start one here.I'm heavy into pinball (NO not on my computer. Well, sometimes, but only if they simulate real ones). I have 2 at home (Williams WhiteWater & Williams F-14) and money/space permitting I would have 10! They are GREAT! Bashing a real iron ball around, playing with gravity, action-reaction, bounce-angles etc. Repairing them is also fun, I got both in non-working state, repaired them myself. I guess I'm from a different generation. Today's youth is more into electronic games, and the operators don't mind since pinball machines that get heavy use should be regularly cleaned/repaired & adjusted. If a game-cabinet fails you just replace the monitor, or chip.Anybody got a similar hobby? Paintball, baseball, ANYTHING outdoors? Non-rebootable stuff mainly? Or is everybody here pretty much chained to their hardware...?
  24. My favourite is Lister from Red Dwarf. He's a total slob, but a nice fella. Especially his interaction with the "Hard-light Hologram" Rimmer and their "Sanitation Droid" Kryten is very funny. If this sounds strange; Red Dwarf is a science fiction comedy series in the UK. Don't know if it's available in the US, there was a US pilot once but the lines and plot were completely butchered by hte American Way of sitcom making. I'm currently waiting for the feature film to come out. Got al series (8) on DVD. And no, I don't like the remastered version. They pulled the "cardboard" sets and model-shots and replaced them by CGI. Takes away from the original charm. I guess nobody remembers "Blake's 7" here, but they were the only one worse off, with the sets I mean...
  25. Oops, that was me. Guess my session timed out. Look it up. Fila Brasileiro; very beautifull, expensive and agressive. Though the last two did not apply to mine. Only dog I ever cared for.
