  1. I would say windows XP, there is virtually nothing incompatible with windows XP, whereas many things dont work with 2000 or are not officially compatible with NT (even though XP is built around it)Although most things are now made for vista, it uses a lot of resources, I have 4GB of RAM in my desktop, but it also makes apps less stable, and lots slower.Although vita does have the advantage that it can run directX 10, something that XP cannot do.If you look at game system spec, youll often find that it recomends 512MB more RAM for vista, because its so resource hungry...Of course there are some games which will work with linux, and most linux distros dont use much memory atall, but unfortunately there are so many different distros, that it isnt possible for the game companies to make games universally compatible with linux.

  2. While Gmail is fast, and has built it Gtalk, I prefer hotmail - It gives you so many other free features - skydrive, Messenger, software such as Live mail and writer, Onecare, workspace, spaces........Of cource my very favourite is Cpanel - as many addresses of any of my domain, and choice of any three iof its online mail clients, or you can use it with any other mail client...

  3. How frustrating!I have never liked dell, I just dont like their products - they are not good value, and I can build PCs for about half the price of a dell computer of the same standard.I dont bother with customer support, I search online a bit, but if that doesnt help, I dont call the help centers - there just a waste of time.Infact, someone asked me to fix their computer, as it was not connecting to the internet. They had called customer support, and quoted the error code, the error code had come from MS outlook, so the guy I was talking to was very helpful, and told me there was a problem between the router, and the computer, so he issues a new password, and I make change the passwords on the PC - No luck.I then had a look at the connection settings. Oh look, somones changed the settings - 30 secconds and, voila, the problem is solved.I dont mean to say that the people who work at the help centers dont know about solving computer related problems, or that they are un-helpful. The person who told me what to do, had most likely just told me what their manual said solves that error code.Infact today I was solving a problem with an MSN live application. So I looked up the error code to find out what causes it. Microsoft s knowledge base said it was because the computer wasnt accepting the security certificates, or the application was not registered in the windows configuration. So I try all of the online solutions, as I dont know what else to do. No luck. But then, on eof those things that really annoys me. The person who owns the laptop, has set the clock wrong!! So I immediately set the clock using a good time server. I then, just to see if time could have possibly have solved the problem, atempted to use the software that was causing the problem and - IT WORKS!Microsofts documentation said that it was a horribly conplex problem that needed files to be re-registered, and a load of configuration files to be deleted and renamed. But no - the clock was wrong!I think both of those examples prove that its not the people who try to help from the call centers - its the companies. They have sold the product, they have made the money.You may say, that they want your money in the future, but, in the case of microsoft, if they dont buy their next OS, recent software wont work. If people buy from someone else they may need a new computer, or the software they own may not work. With dell, they are quite cheap compared to other computer vendors, so if you dont know how to build a computer, they are quite a good place to buy from, even if you have had some bad experiences.

  4. Well im a big fan of the sims, so I am looking forwards to some of the brilliant new features especially on PSP, but multistory in the console games could mean that the PSP and DS versions that I will inevitably buy wont be so lacking in simishness like the sims 1 and 2 for consoles.It looks like the graphics will be better!I hope they include more advanced features for building and placing as thats my favourite part.... I think ill be buying more ram to run it well :)

  5. Well that would be pretty call, but how good it is really depends on how it works.If it actually work out how you feel, then it would be good.Maybe it will be able to detect how you feel from the software yu use or your style of typing or hand movements.Or it could be plain boring like th USB MSN thing that you can buy which detects how you feel from the emoticons you use while talking to people using messenger...

  6. I was watching that movie recently...I have no idea what I would do, I think i would sit there for a day or two thinking "if I screw up, ill ruin humanity" after that id probly enrich my life, then move onto helping random people, and trying make the world a better place.Of course in the movie, he cant change free will, so it would be hard to do things like stop wars....

  7. I hate to say it but sounds like you picked up something like a guy I know from work, He had the same problem. whatever the virus was, was turning off the power to his power supply. He had another older PC on hand, with a smaller hard drive, so he thought he would just change over. well after a day or so, the oler PC did the same thing. this is how he found out it was a virus. None of his antivirus programs picked it up, so it must be very very new.

    Its unlikely a viruses would do this, as a virus does not have access to the power supply itself, it can shut down the computer bu no cut the power.
    And most viruses have a point now, like to steal credit card numbers, or collect information about computer usage...

  8. Its very easy using PHP and MySQLYou simply need a MySQL database, with one table containing one row, containing a number (and an identifier for using a WHERE statement if you want to do it like that)Then every time a page is accessed, you access the database, get the number in the database, increment it by 1. and replace the original number with the incremented one.Of course, this is just page accesses, so you could put in some stuff so each IP is only logged once a day, or, for a play count, you could use a javascript onClick event, so when someone clicks on the flash game, it opens a page in an iframe or a frame with no size, that increments it. This way, web crawlers will not increment the counter, and the counter will only go up if someone clicks on the game!

  9. Well, it would be something anong the lines of, it would check the users details from a database, and use some code like this:

    if (row['avatar'] == "none"){print (" Whatever HTML code is used to show the Na avatar symbol you want ");} else {print ('<img src="');print ("$row['avatar']");print ('" alt="user avatar" />');}
    It would just check to see if there was a database entry to see if the user has uploaded an avatar, and the location of it, then ouputs an image tag for the avatar if there is one, and a No avatar image if there isnt...

  10. Photoshop, in my opinion is a lot more powerful, with so many more powerful features.But I like paint shop pro as well. I use Paint shop pro for making more simple images like web graphics, and photoshop for more complicated stuff, as It has a lot more features suited to making realistic, and brilliant graphics!

  11. Just use cpanelGo to the database sub menu on the main CPanel screen.click on MySQL databasesyou should now see a page that lists all of your MySQL databases and users.Just scroll down, and you should see a create user area, just create a user then, and scroll down a bit furuther, and select a database in on list, and the user you just created to add it to the database so it can connect!

  12. If you mean how do you change the password for a MySQL database user then, in cpanel:go to the Databases sub menu on the main screenclick on MySQL databases.And you should get6 a page with a list of all of your databases and database users.scroll down to the MySQL database user you want to change, and then delete it, then create a new one (above the list of users) with the desired password.A cant see a way in this version of just changing it...

  13. Well they are both very similar, a parked domain just redirects to your current site, an addon domain redirects to a subdomain of your site or a directory of your site, so really they are nearly exactly the same!I use addon domains, to direct the domains I buy through Xisto's awesome MyCENT system to different parts of my site!

  14. I prbably have about 30.... ranging from 32MB to 32GB...most of them sit in a box or in a USB hub unused, or being used as an external backup. I always use my Ironkey for carrying data wherever I go, because if I loose it there is not way anyone can access it!But they are extremely useful, and I dont know how I could cope without having a flash drive with me wherever I go!
