  1. wow! That is an amazing story! At times, there is nothing to do but praise god at the things he can do! A lot of it sounds unbelievable to me, but i know that god works in ways like that and i can do nothing but believe and praise him for that!
  2. God has always been in peoples beliefs. Over thousands of years ago.. Whether it was the right one or not! Just recently, we believed that a particle was the smallest piece of matte, until we found out about the atom... and we will keep thinking that until we find something smaller... like the world was flat and now it isnt! God has been there all those times.... the same god that is here now and back then
  3. ok... pagans are not religious people. Please dont try to argue on this one. If you are talking about pagans as wiccans, or neo-pagans than yes.... i guess you could say it is a religion, but all it is, is pagan culture with old religion beliefs put together. The word pagan derives from the latin word paganus or in other words, a villager or country dweller.Christians back in that time used that term to describe "country folk" who had not discovered christianity and were still practicing polytheistic religions. In the modern world, we use the term pagans or paganism to describe a religion that is not of christian or jewish faith. Nobody really wants to be called a pagan. Its also like being called a heathen... which is also not a religion.
  4. lol... kobra.. good thoughts... anyways, we are all descendants of adam and eve... noah and their family had to come from somewhere...anyways, most people have a theory that adam and eve were directly created by god and were without defects, but over time, sin caused us to have more diseases and separation caused us to change.Also... there is no sin in heaven... thats the whole point. Hell is where all the sin goes. When we die, our true spirits go into the gates to be judged and the ones that accept jesus and love god, go to heaven and no sin can enter. 'It may sound like a fairy tale for you, but you really cant tell whats going to happen whether you believe or not. It sounds a lot better than coming back as an animal or a rock or something. And it sounds a whole lot better than your body just laying in the ground by the nearest highways.
  5. lol kobra... yes, those are aesop's fables. But those are just stories with morals. The things that happened in the bible are 100% true... you dont have to believe it, but there hasnt been anything to prove that it didnt happen... like evolution.anyways, in the bible, the only things that are not real life situations are jesus's parables, which are much like the fables. Im glad you think we should follow christian morals and i completely agree with your horoscope idea with atheists. That is the best i have ever heard. I completely respect you for your stance on this subject and im not trying to argue... just giving you my "story" and point of view to this.and if you really think about life and god... you have to have some kind of a reason for all these things... and i know!!!! it hurts my head to think about it too... but we do have to explain our beliefs and not piggyback off of everyone elses religion.... im not saying you are, but a lot of people do. they say they are going to heaven, but they dont believe that jesus was god or he wasnt the real messiah or he was just a normal person. what are they trying to say? that they are either jews or whatever and that the god that created heaven is the same god that also believes what that person believes?
  6. bluebear... that story is almost like mine! Well my parents didnt get divorced so i didnt pray for things like that, but i did pray that my life would be a lot easier or i wouldnt make my parents so mad all the time lol.. If you truly accept god in your heart and you confess to god that you are a sinner and realize that jesus came here to take our sins away... then yea, you are christian. But as a christian, you have to live your life for god. it doesnt mean you have to change everything in your life cold turkey, or go to church every weekend and stuff like that, but it does mean that you keep praying and trust that the things god does is good. If you pray for your mom's happiness and believe it, then it will happen! Get others to pray for you cause that will help too! There are so many christians who go into this "depression" and they feel pretty much like you do. I have fallen into it and at times still am in that state, but to be honest, nothing can make me deny god. Praying for me is amazing. It does bring hope to things and when they are answered, i know he's with me. But there are times that i dont hear anything and i know he isnt ignoring me. One of the thngs that really struck me with god is this poem called footprints. That is how i think of him! We dont mean that he has no reason to help you, or just one person, but the things he does is in his plan to help the entire world. IF you trust god and pay close attention, he will use you to be a part of his plan. the best way to get to know god better isn't just praying and knowing what you know now either. Reading the bible helps so much, and even books by other christians. Im getting ready to read a book called "unchristian". I have friends that i go to for help too, but in the beginning of my "christian life" i had so many questions about everything and the thing that helped was to read the bible and know that it really happened! If you want to read the book with me, we can do a study or something lol.. or just pm me or email me anything! I love talking jesus and God!
  7. i would have to agree with kansuke again on this one bluebear. When i was like 13 or 14, i used to have those same questions and you know what, at times, i thought that i had a good relationship with god. i was catholic so i never really understood what a true relationship with him was but i thought it was good cause i did well in school or i got something i wanted. I was pretty selfish back then. Asking for things that have no purpose for anyone but me! When you want that kind of a relationship with god, you have to accept the things he has done for you! Kansuke isn't saying that your just a sinner, but we all are and none us can pass his judgement without jesus. If we didnt have jesus, we would have to do everything in the old testament (sacrifice animals and such) just to get forgiveness. Now that jesus has suffered and taken our sins from us, we just have to ask God for forgiveness and when we believe that, we are forgiven. What kind of prayers are you praying for? You have to be realistic about it. A new playstation? answer will probably be no. World peace? Probably not. Even though that might be his ultimate goal, he can't do that. That's his promise to us. The promise of free will for us. We can choose to accept god or not and god cannot do anything about it.He wants world peace, but to do that, he would have to get rid of a lot of sin in the world and that means getting rid of people who are in sin. Read about noah's ark.... that is the exact story and the rainbow signifies his promise that he would never do anything horrible like that again!
  8. the coolest thing is how the picture comes out like that when you click it! Hard metal and Jesus???? Sounds a lot like a few of my friends
  9. thanks k! When i said , i meant humans created gods in their own image! everyone does it now! If you went down the street and asked them what they thought about god, most non christians would say that he exists and people would get into heaven for being good! They just imagined a god that puts all "good" people into heaven! Who's to judge which ones are good? The person who imagined their god of course! Also, think about gods in mythology. How can they be gods? Arent they supposed to be all powerful and all knowing and all that jazz? Well, wouldnt the one that can beat all that be the real god? iF he is weak in one area, then that just makes them more like a superhero or villain... Now, i dont say that god does exist, because he does and i do believe that the bible is all god inspired 100% --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Read about the bible... try wikipedia or something. But if you really look into an apologetics type resource about the bible, you will find that it is a lot more than just a book that people wrote! in fact, the bible has more proof of it's existence than "The Odyssey" or even shakespeare's works. saying the bible is not legit, pretty much questions all the other older works. The bible is no excuse!
  10. inhuman, thats a really good response... the last paragraph especially.Yes, i agree that in a way, humans created god. And im not talking about people have god to explain the unexplained. Im saying that christians cant explain things of the bible. i mean.. first of all, when it comes to the bible, nobody is smart enough to have written it. Even if it was a group of people, they could not have thought of it! Just research the facts. Its a series of books written in different languages and authors and time periods.but aside the bible, People can make god real. Just like people can make imaginary friends real. That doesn't explain some of the most dramatic changes that happen to people though. My imaginary god changed my life and my wife's life and my friend's life. i have heard it change gang member's lifes, (he spoke at our church once.)My imaginary life changed Norma L. McCorvey life (roe vs. wade - the supreme court case that ruled abortion legal). We can't all have an imagination that works like that.-----------------------------------------------------------------lets say all atheists are right....The bible has to be the greatest conspiracy ever! I mean, create a god to help people and the bible that is near perfect in every way!-------------------------------------------------------------------------i will tell you the real reason religion is so hard!PEOPLE HATE CHANGE!!!!!!When you think of becoming a christian, most people think of being this perfect person who goes to church and visits old people or something. but when it really comes down to it, nobody wants to change their lives, and thats whats wrong with some "Christians" today! They claim to be christian, but they dont do anything that someone who follows god would do. And thats what the world sees. They see the hipocrites and the bad parts of this "religion". Christianity is not a religion to me. Its a way of life! Im not the perfect christian and nobody is, but i know where i stand in my beliefs and you have to respect me for that.Trust me, it took me a long time to figure this out too! i grew up catholic and hating church and did so much bad stuff that i thought every normal person went through at least once, and realized how ignorant and stupid i was.I agree that people are crazy and do stupid stuff... but only the ones that dont know, are the ones that blame god! I cant blame god for anything and a true christian doesnt blame god. They dont even blame other people, but rather satan and the corrupt world... now, dont tell me that im making satan up to blame someone else, because it is very true. You dont have to believe it but i do.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------anyways... in this world, people take paganism way too seriously. Paganism isnt even a religion. Its an old christian term basically "putting down" an unbeliever. They were into a lot of sin and didnt care about jesus or who he was....They had all these holidays and "beliefs" so they wouldnt have to go with "christian beliefs"
  11. Mikey! that is a very interesting point to take on that. The regular Bible isn't 1 smart man who put everything for all of us to read and understand. Most athiests read it to contradict itself and they of course find ways to do that, but most read it out of context! I agree that there are unexplainable parts in the bible, but evolution isn't the perfect answer! In fact, it takes more faith for a man to believe in evolution or aliens than a person to believe in god! I mean, just the fact that 1 cell just happened to come into existence in a planet that is deadly to us now and then happened to reproduce itself perfectly to fit in the environment again and again and again, is not my idea of why i came to earth. ---------------------------------- Kobra, lol your answer was mine about 3 years ago! haha... i have changed so much sense then. first off, dont think that im trying to "convert" you guys. I just really love talking about god and things like that! Just cause i say i'm a christian or i believe in god does not mean i go to church every sunday or that other people do. In fact, you can have a perfectly good relationship with god and never go to church! I go because i learn more stuff about god, i learn how to act as a christian, and i learn from someone who can help me in life. I can go to my dad, but i dont want to do the things he did. I can go to someone who is "good, " but not every person's view of "good" is truly good. If there is a god, then yes you will either go to his place for good people or his place of bad people But heres what i think. Now i say that because "my" god created jesus and sacrificed him for us so that we wont have to go to hell. If you dont believe in jesus, then you also dont believe in the same god as mine. my god created heaven, hell, jesus, and everything mentioned in the bible. Now you just have to think about your god and what he's like to you. But everyone who is agnostic has their own image of god as well. If you dont believe in jesus or my god, then there is no way for you to get into heaven because my god created it. The only way you can get into heaven is through my god or have your god create one thats kinda confusing. now that i have found my god, its really hard to turn away from anything else. And if you are believing in the wrong god, then death matters cause i would hate to be stuck in god's bad people place. NOw, im not saying that my god is the correct god, but i cant go back to atheism because i have just as much as evidence for my god than evolution.... and i dont want to leave my god and be trapped in hell for eternity. Until my faith has been proven false, then i will consider a different path, but so far, none yet!
  12. how do i set up sftp on Xisto or do i just need to set it up in my transfer software. Im sorry for asking this, but it kinda confuses me.so far i have ftp:ftp host: ftp.apolopedia.comusername: jjaenagle@apolopedia.compassword: ********----------------------------------------------------when i did it in filezilla as sftp, it gave me some kind of warning... the server's host key is not cached in the registry.and then fingerprint and a bunch of stuff.trust? I canceled and came here to ask.now do i need to go into cpanel and set up an ftp?----------------------------------------------------------------------i would like to set it up for dreamweaver though
  13. can i contact the admins and see if they can grant me privileges? what do i need to do?im very new to this. i have asked the same question in their forum so hopefully, someone can help me out.
  14. ok so i am trying to transfer mediawiki's but i am having trouble with exporting importing the database. I am using phpmyadmin on both sides of the hosts. When i do the import i get this. I tried to give my user all rights, but it gave me this also. Do you guys have any advice?
  15. What do you think about GOD? I am a Christian and i know a lot about him. I know he loves me, and he is perfect in every way. I couldn't imagine my life without him and sometimes his ways of "love" confuses me. I sometimes have questions like why does god let bad things happen? I know the answer, but they still make me think! I would have a hard time rejecting him, knowing all the things i know about him. Do you think he loves you? Do you think god exists? Do you believe in god but not jesus? (Think about it too) If you dont believe in Jesus, then you dont believe in heaven or hell or sin or eternal life.... unless of course you believe in a god that does have some of those things. But then, what else is your god?
  16. i would have to agree with truefusion and joshua. Religion is not about a set of rules you follow or you do it be cause you have to or they are bad if they dont. If you lived your entire life like that, than you would just be living a legalistic life of your beliefs and not what god really intends, which is a relationship.I do believe that people do come to know christ and god better through this legalistic way sometimes... my wife went to church because she felt alone and that she should go to church to lift her up spiritually! She didn't really understand this type of relationship until she went to college and her church setting changed!Without accepting jesus christ as your savior and confessing that you are a sinner, it is impossible for anyone to get into heaven.... in fact, you dont even believe in heaven! The moment you reject the works of jesus, you are throwing god out of your life and fill it with your own image of what god is!I have done that so many times and i still do sometimes! There are christians who just twist things around in the bible or in prayer or even help from others to make it seem whatever they want it to! To be a true christian, sometimes you have to face the facts about what god really is whether you like it or not! If you dont believe in jesus, then you dont believe in heaven or hell!---------------------------------------------------------------------
  17. Well, it kinda depends. A stumbling block from what? I guess for me and my past, some parts of religion was a stumbling block! I was raised catholic and went to a catholic military school. I hated going to mass and never really understood god! In my opinion, everything that i had done in my life was a stumbling block from me getting to where i am now! Right now, i can sit with you and tell you that i put my faith in god and the works of Jesus. It isnt going to make you change your mind or anything, but it is just a way for me to tell you how god has changed my life.I really like your question, mainly because it reminds me of the changes i have gone through to be where i am and stand so strong in my faith... and believe me, i am still working on it! To be honest, i still have a hard time going to church and reading the bible and following all my commandments "like a good christian," but i could not sit in front of you and say that god has not changed my life! The thing for me is that me believing in god and living my life as the best follower of jesus i can be, does not keep me from the modern world. In fact, the bible even tells us to be prepared for the persecution and the things that we have to face as believers. The thing is about gOd is that he always was, is and always will be... GOD.I can't say that there is any perfect religion because there truly is none. When i say i am a christian, i mean that i am a person who follows christ and his actions. Most religions like catholicism, baptist, assemblies of god, pentacostal, etc... they are technically all christian but are they really a follower of christ? Do their actions and ways of life really bring out that they are a follower of christ? I'm not saying i am perfect either cause nobody in this world is. I make so many mistakes still and i have a lot to be forgiven for, but thats the power of what god has done to me!---To be honest, i can say that religion was a stumbling block to me. I was learning the wrong things in school and i always had the wrong idea of church, so i always avoided anything with religion. I graduated high school having been involved with drugs and drinking and a few felony charges, including grand theft auto! I guess the true stumbling block for me was my own selfishness. I couldnt see what my god was doing in my life and it kept me away from his plans for me!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ok sorry to get sidetracked lol... anyways, with religious fundamentalism, i guess it would depend on how you view it! I live my life as best as i can based on the bible. I attend an assemblies of god church and i believe that their mission and views are right. I can say for myself, i could not go back to a catholic background, but i am not against people who have the same relationship that i do in my denomination. I think that some people get too caught up in the legalistic areas of their faith, that they really lose the whole point of what god really intended for us since the beginning of time, which is a relationship!I can say, that with some religions, it will not be able to move on to the modern world and in the end, the one true "religion" will overcome everything else!--------------------------------------We aren't here to tell people that they are wrong or stupid for believing in a different religion, but rather just showing them the truths of your own! I still get so many mormons and jehovah's witnesses trying to "convert" me even after i tell them i am christian! The difference is that i can prove my faith in every way or that i havent been able to disprove anything!
  18. to be honest, i really dont hink there is a perfect system! I like democracy because of the fact that it gives us all a choice, but to be honest, america has made some pretty stupid choices! Can you imagine if 51% of our country wanted to change something? That's still a huge number of people who didn't want to change something! I agree that there are a lot of good things involved with it, but there are people who are confused about how the world should be run. As a christian, i kinda like the idea of communism because of it's fairness. but i would never support it due to its lack of free will to others! Please dont quote me that i am a communist or i like communism! I JUST LIKE THE IDEA OF IT IF WE WERE ALL PERFECT!I think the only perfect type of reigning will be in heaven and i cant imagine what that will be like!
  19. Wow, you guys are very deep with this! To be honest, i am a STRONG believer in Christ! Not just christianity or a certain "denomination," but rather the relationship that i have with "my" God. This may seem kind of off topic, but i just wanted to say that i do believe in science! I believe that god created everything, including things that fall under science. Saying that everything in the universe just "happens" to coexist without any help of it creation would (in my opinion) require more faith to believe than just saying an all powerfull, all knowing, and all present god created it! I mean, god can do anything and the way that science works with god is basically, everything obeys him! What i mean is:1. God created science, physics, mathematics, etc2. All those have to abide by their specific laws, created by GodNow, think about it.... these natural laws are created by god and they have to do what god says.... It's not like they have a brain and can just say no to 2+2=4. If any one of these fell out of place, the universe would collapse! Now can you say that by chance, everything happens to work together? The universe was just created by default on its own? Its kinda weird.-------------------------------------------------------------------------i also wanted to add another thing. SCIENCE IS ALWAYS CHANGING. Do your remember when people thought the earth was flat? Or when we thought that a particle was the smallest piece of matter until we discovered that the atom was?Well, what happens when we have a stronger microscope to figure out that something else makes up an atom? What if there is something smaller? You may say that it isn't, but people said the same thing before we discovered the atom!i'm sure there is proof that an atom is the smallest, but thats besides the point.... what i am trying to say is that, in our present time, we have evidence to prove everything that exists; and only when we find evidence that something greater than that exists, will we believe that that is true!ITs kinda confusing to me too, but just think! In the bible, even jesus recognized slavery. And throughout history, people have had their thoughts of slavery and even americans during the civil war thought slavery was right! It wasn't until we made it a law that people started to understand that it is not right. I am against slavery, but i want to bring you guys to mind that the world changes and with every change, our views also change! Everyone has their own opinions, but it's all how we take those "opinions (or said beliefs)" and live by them!
  20. yea. it's very interesting! If you use dreamweaver, i know you can go to their dreamweaver exchange site and there is a free extension that will automatically generate random Lorem Ipsum words for your site! It's great for webpage designers to fill in empty space so that they don't just type random letters (jklfdskljfdskljfsd)! I'm sure there are some online that will just do that for you also
  21. Hey everyone! i just wanted to tell you guys how i added my paypal button to my site! if you go to apolopedia.com, you can see that i have a paypal button above my ads on every page. I still use the monobook skin, so i went into the skins and edited my php... i basically just added my paypal code above the advertisements header in the coding so that it will display there.... i would like it more towards the top but i dont want to mess with it too much. * dependency on PHPTAL. * * @todo document * @addtogroup Skins */ if( !defined( 'MEDIAWIKI' ) ) die( -1 ); 22. I believe in jesus and his works. I believe in Christianity, but it's not about being christian or not! God is not a denomination or even a religion. IT's a relationship! You hear so many people claiming to be christians, catholics, baptists and all those things, but do they really live out their life with God beside them daily?I was born in a buddhist family, raised catholic, "used to be self proclaimed agnostic" (i believed in a god but i did not know him), and reborn a christian. But none of that tell says i am a rigtheous person more than going out and having a relationship with god!Now i know there are muslims, jehovah's witness, and other religions that do not believe in the full works of jesus christ, but thats a while nother part of "the truth." I have full respect with people who have their own relationships with god and i am not going to say that your believes are wrong and mine is right! IT has taken me 22 years for me to fully understand this and i am one of the lucky ones to find out so early!I dont base my entire religion on just a feeling i have with "my" God, but i base it on the bible as well as my study in christian apologetics. The bible was written by man, but they are god's words so i believe everything in the bible is from god! I am not an apologis, but i like to learn a lot about my faith! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------So far, i have not found any evidence that disproves christianity. I have not found found any evidence that disproves evolution either, but the thing that makes me believe in a God is basically, it takes less faith for me to believe that something came from GOD than something came from nothing!this may not make sense to you at first but just think about this! 1. God is all knowing, all powerful, and all present. He is perfect and created everything!2. BY chance, 1 cell came and reproduced itself perfectly to be able to keep reproducing itself in a lifeless world and evolved to make every living thing on earth! (imagine mars or any other planet and just out of nowhere, a cell appears.)
