1. I don't know why your post was not moderated, but I think Your post should be REMOVED right now. You have posted registered keys for Microsoft windows which can raise serious concerns and cause some copyright issues. Wonder what all the moderators are doing.

Why you need to update Windows XP, to Service Pack 1, 2, or 3?Today, most programs/softwares require at least Windows XP with Service Pack 2, if you don't have an updated Windows XP to Service Pack 2, you will have to search for the older versions of the program/software you are trying to download. Most modern programs will not be available to you unless you update your windows, this is why I created this tutorial for Windows XP update: Trouble shooting.

When you have the windows update program pop up, asking you to update your windows XP to service pack 1, 2 or 3, do you get the message "The product key used to install Microsoft Windows may not be valid. For more information about why you have received this error message, and steps you can take to resolve this issue visit http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/.; or "The product key used to install Microsoft Windows may not be valid. Please contact your system administrator or retailer immediately to obtain a valid Product Key. You may also contact Microsoft Corporation's Anti-Piracy Team by emailing piracy@microsoft.com if you think you have purchased pirated Microsoft software. Please be assured that any personal information you send to the Microsoft Anti-Piracy Team will be kept in strict confidence."
Well, if you do, I assure you, that you will resolve this problem after reading this tutorial.
Ok, so first thing you want to do is right click "my computer", then click "properties", first thing you need to check for is the serial number that is written under "Registered to", if your serial number looks like any of these:
    xxxxx-640-00000x-45xxx,
    xxxxx-640-05928x-45xxx,
    xxxxx-640-46267x-45xxx,
    or xxxxx-640-47155x-45xxx.
BTW, the Xs are numeric values.

If in fact your serial number matches any of these, that really means that you have a pirated version, but i have a fix to it.
The next thing you want to do is, change to a different product key, this will be easy if you follow every step that I mention below.
First you have to delete the registry to your version of windows XP, dont worry this wont harm your computer in any way. This is how you do it:
    1. Click "Start", "Run", in run type in "Regedit" (This is your registry folder, so make sure you don't do anything in there that I did not mention to do).
    2. In your registry folder, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents.
    3. In the right window, you will see a file called OOBETimer, right click it, and click Modify.
    4. Now, Change at least one digit of this value to deactivate Windows.
    5. Exit.
This was the deactivation windows XP process, so now we have to activate it:

Reactivating Windows with new Product key:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type the following command:
    %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a, and click OK
Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows, and then click Next.
    Click Change Product key.
This is the most important step, you may have heard about the stuff I told you to do above, but these 2 options below, will probably solve your problem.

First option: If you still have the windows XP installation disk, insert it into the computer, exit the installation process, go to "My computer", right click on the installation disk, and click "Open"
Now, Explore the CD and navigate to the i386 folder, open the file UNATTEND.txt and scroll down to the last line, there you will find your Windows XP product key.
You can also use a product key from a different windows.

Second Option: Listed below are a couple product keys that are valid. If some don't work, keep trying, some of them will work for sure:

    FRH2X-6VD7F-YH2TV-2V8B7-J46F6
    QKBGY-T8JFG-F448Q-24KR9-48XPJ
    F9QV9-HDYR3-6QDR4-PGVW9-GTBBJ
    H49F9-8RTVG-MTCVH-G2MFK-C47C8
    JC6RM-J678V-2Y2FV-KRYJ4-PBWKW
    CYP76-WG47G-3QQXC-MCXFP-RT8DT
    JG28K-H9Q7X-BH6W4-3PDCQ-6XBFJ
    KW88P-MG360-WMYJY-9Q2G8-F3MWB
    RJFWT-PD7GJ-8QV7B-PGWRC-9Q34Q
    VDDF2-JJWM3-X7P27-FRHRT-8BVHT
    QW4HD-DQCRG-HM64M-6GJRK-8K83T
    BGMFJ-XMW2T-PBW6C-4663Y-P6T98

    1. Copy the product key of your choice, from Option 1, or Option 2.
    2. Paste the product key in the window where you are on the "Change Product key" step.
    3. Click Update. If you are returned to the previous window, click Remind me later, and then restart the computer.
    4. To make sure your Windows XP is reactivated, type %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a in "Run" and click "OK".
    5. You should recieve the following message:
"Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit."

Finally, you can update Windows XP to Windows XP SP1, SP2, or, SP3.
If you get the same message repeat the same steps but use a different product key you can use another from the list, or you can get a different one from a different location, eventually you will get there.

If you feel like your computer becomes all slow after the update to: Windows XP: Service Pack 2, you can reinstall you display drivers through your device manager.
    To do that:
    1. Right click "My Computer", "Properties".
    2. Click the "Hardware" tab, then click "Device Manager".
    3. Click the arrow next to "Display Drivers".
    4. Right click the device that opened up, and click "reinstall" or "uninstall" and then reinstall.
    5. Restart your computer, and your done!

Hope this tutorial helps you, please comment for questions or if this tutorial helped you.
    Good Luck!

  2. It happened to me twice. I think there would be an update labled something like 'SP1' that is the service pack. Try installing that and your problem would be fixed.

    Hope this helps.

I use Windows 7 Ultimate, and I have noticed something which seems to be an update problem.
I have my updates set as "Automatic", ie. Windows 7 looks for and downloads and installs Windows 7 updates automatically.

However, I have noticed a few times that, when I have a considerable amount of updates waiting, the downloading and installing of updates usually fails.

Now, for example, I had 15 updates, and all but one failed.
When I install them separately (one by one) it does eem to do the trick, but that is, of course, hardly automatic, is it?

Now, I would like to know if this might be a fault in the Windows Update settings, or if there might be another reason, and more importantly, if there is anything I can do against it.

Has anyone ever come across something like that?
As I mentioned before, it only seems to happen when there are a considerable amount of updates available, not in case of just 2 or 3, it appears.

I would be very pleased if someone could enlighten me regarding this problem.

    Thank you in advance.

  3. This generally doesn't happen , Since windows XP is suppose to load all these drivers by default. You just wrote about one DVD drive but the Device manager shows up two . Is the second one a virtual drive or is it there physically ? You should try removing the drivers manually (in Device manager > Right Click > uninstall) and then scan for hardware changes. This will try reinstalling the device automatically. But If It asks you for any Drivers, I don't know what you would do :) since both of your drives (according to Device manager) are not working Lets just hope it picks up drivers automatically and installs them Otherwise, You could go to the manufacturer's website and see if they have any specific drivers for their drives. NOTE : I won't recommend you trying to upgrade your DVD-ROM's firmware right now. If it were the firmware's fault you won't be seeing it in the BIOS itself. Your OS (XP) could be the culprit, try running a live CD (Ubuntu) and see it works properlyHope this helps

  4. Here is one for the puter geeks. I am presently using Windows XP. I have programs that are loading on "startup" that I want not to load on startup. I have found them listed in the System Information, Software Environment under Startup Programs. When I was using Windows 98 I could edit them at this location. Now I am lost as to where I can go to edit these programs. Can somebody tell me where to edit the startup programs? My Start Menu, Startup folder is currently empty. Where are these little devils located then?

Type 'gpedit.msc' at run and look under that - This is when you are managing programs from a group policy

Otherwise, Just type 'msconfig' at run and look under that.

Hopefully one of these would help you

  5. Ok First is your Adsl modem Belkin too ???

No my ADSL modem is Huawei.

Which Operating system do you have ???

I m using Ubuntu and Sometimes, Windows XP x64.

Is the internet functioning on your computer or is it just the ping and file sharing ???

Internet works fine on both the systems.
I just need to figure out the pinging problem

For Guys who think workgroups work, They don't, all u need is to put up the same Subnet mask and gateway, That ways it always works. Anyways, I tried workgroup also and no it didn't help.

  6. I have a samsung TFT which Ubuntu has failed to recognized. Now It has a native maximum supported resolution of 1920 x 1080I have instaled Ati drivers also ( I have a Radeon HD 5770)All I need to do is somehow force the monitor to 1920x1080 Can someone tell me howI googled but all I came up was to setup monitor resolutions from System > Preferences > monitorsor writting Xorg.conf.If someone knows a sure-shot way to do it, that will be really helpfulthanks

  7. Ok.
You have a Normal DVD writer which has been put in a case.
    You've got two options -
    1. u can try and remove it from the case and put it in your CPU
That ways, we will know if the case is faulty or the writer (if the writer works perfectly after putting it in the case)

    3. If its still under manufacturer's warranty. Try calling them up and ask them to fix it.

As for the firmware update. I am not sure if you did it write. and What utility did u use for it ?
I once had a similar problem with a Sony DVD writer, and I screwed up big time. It was able to write but not read anything. :)
All the DVDs were listed as CDs with nothing on it. Later, I had a guy fix it by reflashing it.

I ran the update and tried to burn a DVD, Here's the new error (I didn't look at it yet):Log.txt

    The diagnostics:
    write mode: Failed
    read mode: Not performed

I could not save that error, so I typed it from memory.

  8. I was finally able to SORTA fix this laptop that I recently got. I was able to pass the BIOS password and all. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out how to make the laptop go back to out of box state. I want to do this because I do not have the password to log into the computer (admin password.) I ahve tried preesing down zero, but I don't get that beeping niose when I turn it on. I've tried F2, F8, F10 and F12. None help me out! Is there another way that I would be able to do this.

I had also been told something about the Motherboard and I tried taking the computer apart, but wasn't alble to do anything to it because I did not have the right toold for a screw. So, I'm not about to mess with that again.

The laptop is a Toshiba a305d... Windows Vista...

Its kind of hard to make out what EXACTLY u r tying to do.

    1. Are u trying to get ur system to boot ? (Means ur system is not booting up)

    2. Are u trying to bypass the windows password ? (U somehow forgot the Windows Admin password)

    or

    3. Are u trying to install windows on ur system from the scratch ?

If u r trying to do this, u'll need a restore disc (if any) that came along ur windows machine or the one u must have created when u booted for the very first time.

or U must have a restore section on ur hard-drive and a restore button somewhere on ur laptop.

  9. An external DVD burner gives me this error. A copy of the error is attached.
    Log.txt

    It says power calibration error.

If you've put up the DVD writter in a case, I think you're case is not supplying enough power to the DVD-writter. It must be reading some of the CD's but not writting any CD or DVD :)

    Happened to me once.

You've got 2 more drives besides the Sony one ,
Check if those are working fine

    OPTORITE CD-RW CW4801 F: CDRom0
    LITE-ON CD-RW SOHR-5239V D: CDRom1
    SONY DVD RW DRU-510A G: CDRom2

and I am assuming that Sony DRU 510A is the External one since that is the one for which this log was generated.

You can try connecting this as an internal drive and then see if it works properly. That ways you can be sure that the case is faulty.

    Hope this helps.

  10. Hello Members,
Please help me out on how to setup this D-Link G router with my current MTNL ADSL router. I tried doing thing which didn't work. I hope someone would help me in this issue.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Karan

    Hi,
    I've setup a Belkin G router with MTNL's MT882 Modem

Could you please post a copy of the settings screen of your Router. That would definitely help me tell you better.

If u don't then also its fine, I'll try posting what I did.

    1. You should have connected the Modem's Ethernet cable to the router and Router's Ethernet cable to Computer.
    2. Now, if you type 192.168.1.1 , You should be able to access the Modem and If you type the address for router , it should go to Router's login page.
    3. Double click on the Lan icon (the one that shows connectivity) > Properties > TCP/IP > Properties > and select Obtain IP address automatically and obtain DNS automatically.

These are important since if you screw this up you won't be able to access anything.

    3. When you go to router's main page - (on my page its on the left hand side , dont know about yours,) there should be Lan settings. DONT CHANGE THOSE. This is important. If you've messed it up then do a reset.

    4. Now go to Connection type. First choose static. - Fill in the settings which you put in the TCP/ IP settings like Ip Address 192.168.1.12, Subnet 255.255.255.0, Gateway - 192.168.1.1

    5. Now Again click on Connections type and this time select PPPoE - then put in the Username , password that you put on the MTNL's modem (its generally phone no. and CA no. as password if you haven't changed it)

    6. Now, you select DNS settings and put in the DNS that you had configured in the TCP/IP properties.

    7. that's it, now if you restart your Router, you should be able to access the net.

    8. Worked for me, if it doesn't you might put up your settings snapshot and I'll point out the changes :)

    Hope this helps

  11. Thanks a million rvalkass. :)You've given me all the answers I needed :)I'll probably go for a DVI - DVI single link. HDMI is good but you are right, since I don't have speakers in my monitor and moreover, its an HDMI -DVI thing. I'll stick to the DVI-DVI single link.I don't think my monitor would support a resolution higher than 1920x1080. (Its a 22")Anyways, these were some of the answers which I went looking for on google and I think google these days is not what it used to be :). Its more confusing. I look for one thing and find something completely unrelated. Looks like I've lost my googling skills :)Anyways .. Thanks

  12. Hi, I have an LCD monitor (Samsung P2250), thats behaving oddly (shuts off itself at random for some reason). It has been supposedly fixed by Samsung (they changed the touch buttons and the VGA unit inside the Monitor). But its still showing the same problem. Anyways, I figure now the problem could be either Power cable or the VGA cable. So I am going to change both. Now while looking for the cables I saw two types of cable in the market (actually there are more than two types but I am confused between these two) 1. DVI to DVI cable 2. DVI to HDMI cable I have a Radeon 5770 that can support both DVI and HDMI interface. Now I do not know anything about these Digital interfaces, so can somebody guide me as to which one I should buy. My monitor can only support DVI and VGA. I wanted to switch to this digital interface , since I do some gaming too on my machine. And please also tell me - If HDMI to DVI cable is same as DVI to HDMI ? I mean Can I put in HDMI in my graphics card and DVI in my Monitor if it says DVI to HDMI ? And Can someone tell me the difference between single link and dual link ? It was written DVI to DVI single link on one of the cable and on another DVI to DVI dual link and most of the HDMI-DVI were dual link. I am so confused. I wish I had not slept during my electronic's classes :) So far, I think Dual links are something better than Single link since they are costing more. and for some reason, I am getting DVI to HDMI cheaper than DVI-DVI cable :)

  13. Uh-oh... i said you guys don't have to do that. You can just use the method i used. That way is too complicated and there is simpler way with MUCH more security. If you think i didn't explain it too well, here is a link to the guide.

You guys are still not getting what I am trying to say.

Lets say , I have a list of all the IP clients on my router

    post-61260-089900200 1277573781_thumb.jpg

NOW, If I try pinging from one pc to another there is no reply

    SO, Sharing wont work.

Physically they are on the same router but somehow the logic needed to connect the two and make them realize this is missing :)

    Any suggestions.

Even if I create a Home group, I don't think It'll be able to connect the two computers since the ping is not there

  14. Hi, I've had an internet connection since I was 14. Call me lame , but I never bothered about wi-fi and was happy with my wired DSL untill my Airconditioner broke down few weeks back and had to move into another room. Now , I could work on my internet, since, my ADSL router was a wired one. So , I bought a Belkin Wi-fi router. I am not too good with configuring stuff. So I called up their helpline and the guy was really helpful and he helped me configure it. Now, I can access net from my laptop or pda or anything that has a wifi adaptor. Anyways. I was hoping that since, my desktop and laptop are on the same router and have the similar IP address, same subnet mask and same Gateway. May be , I could ping from one PC (laptop, wireless) to another PC (Desktop , Wired). But NO, I was not able to do it. I want to share files over this network. Can someone guide me ?Thanks. I'll post snapshots of my Router Config panel. May be that'll help.I couldn't figure out what this is .. Is it suppose to be enabled ?post-61260-093744800 1277277431_thumb.jpgA little more info. My connection type is PPPoE (requires authentication on the DSL Modem)

  15. A few days ago I stumbled upon this app. It's called Connectify and lets you "Turn your Windows 7 laptop into a Wi-Fi hotspot to share the Internet with" ... "any number of Wi-Fi enabled devices to your network including laptops, phones, gaming systems"...It seems like what you were looking for. The only thing is that it seems to require Windows 7, I don't know if you have it. I don't, so I couldn't test it, I can neither recommend it nor disapprove it.
    http://www.connectify.me/
    Good luck

Thank, I'll try it out. I am probably gonna buy a new laptop in a next couple of months, So I'll try it then.

  16. Even if you find a data recovery software , It won't do any good. You've written on the erased partitioned. It will be very hard to recover.

I have recently installed Ubuntu removing Windows as it was having a problem. It erased all the data. Please suggest ubuntu softwares for data recovery. please send suggestions to xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  17. I think , You installed wrong drivers for windows 7. Try going to the manufacturer's website and download a stable release. Don't put drivers from Nvidia's website. At times they cause issues.

Hope this solves your issue. And Do uninstall and reboot, before installing the new drivers.

hey

can any 1 help me I have nvidia geforce 9400gt card.I just installed windows 7 in my pc(desktop)

after installing windows 7 I tried 2 install graphic card.It show that u have sucessfully installed but whenever I start my pc it show reinstall your graphic card
-reply by brijesh

DONT KNOW WHY YOU'VE WRITTEN IN CAPS but anyways. There's no specific Driver problem as such. You might be facing this issue cause of several reasons.

    1. Did you try downloading drivers from the manufacturer's website (eg. XFX, ASUS, etc)

    2. Did you uninstalled and then reboot before installing the new driver ?

    3. If you're card is stable when you run with standard VGA drivers ?

    4. It could be, that your gfx card is physically damaged.

You've not written about the make of your card, so I can't help much. Plus which OS exactly are you running ?

Nvidia Display Driver ProblemNvidia Display Driver Problem
Does anyone know if a fix has been found for this NVIDIA DRIVERPROBLEM or if even anyone knows what is causing the problem? The only way I can use my 8500GT is with the STANDARD VGA DRIVER. I have 3 computers with 3 different motherboards and 3 different operating systems: XP PRO, VISTA 32 and VISTA 64 and everything with the latest updates including BIOS. I have tried every single driver NVIDIA has released for the 8500GT from the very first to the newest and they all have the same problems except that some end in a BSOD (Blue screen) and others freeze with or without artifacts acroos the monitor. I have also tried 4 different monitors (1 ata time) to no avail. Google shows this same problem has existed for about 4 years with NVIDIA video cards (ATI video cards have a similar problem) and many people have offerered many fixes, none of which work. IT IS ALMOST AS IF THE VIDEO CARDS (NVIDIA & ATI) HAVE BEEN DAMAGED by a windows update at some time as I have even installed both XP and VISTA on clean hard drives and the problems show up immediately, before any XP/VISTA updates are installed. I don't see any sense in spending more money for a new video card if I can only use the standard VGA driver. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING FACTUAL ABOUT THIS PROBLEM?
-reply by Richard

  18. I hope you put up Thermal compound on your CPU before putting the fan back. Coz most of the time, heating issues are caused bcoz of bad or washed off thermal compound. Plus, I am not sure if thats the stock fan for 3 GHz that you've clicked. Are you sure you got it in the box ? Anyways, The pics are really blurred so I couldn't look at it properly. BTW.. I hope while cleaning you also cleaned the fan on SMPS, coz sometimes that also gives problems.

All right, so today, mother got me up to ask me to fix my Dads computer. So, I got up and started, and didn't finish till 1:00 PM from 8:30 AM (GMT time). It runs an Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz, socket 775 LGA, and has an Antec Design case. I have many pictures, however the quality is not the best, so I do deeply apologise. The CPUs max temperature of all time was 105 degrees C a few days ago.

    That's all the pictures.

    Comments on it?

  19. Hi,
I used Goldwave few years back. I personally don't like the software because its not too professional. I use Sony Soundforge. However, for a simple task like bitrate conversion you can always use lame. Bitrate (in layman's language) defines the clarity for the song. The higher the bitrate the better it is. Since MP3s are lossy, the lower bitrate you find will be of smaller size. I usually try and keep my songs in 320kbps. A 160 Kbps song is good enough if you are listening on a normal headphone. If you use a professional headphone or a 5-6 channel surround system , go for 320 kbps. There are also VBR (Variable bitrate) songs . That can be sometimes better in listening since they are sometimes superior to even 320 kbps MP3. A normal phone generally supports all bitrates. However, My Moto Ming only supported bitrate of upto 160 kbps. So its a hit and try thing. If your phone doesn't play a song, Lower the bitrate. Bitrate is entirely different from loudness of volume. It can effect the clarity but not the loudness. You'll have to decide the loudness yourself. btw if you set it too loud you might damage your speaker also. I hope this clears your confusion.

    Hi,
I'm using Goldwave software to edit audio for general phone that can support Mp3 format. However, I don't know exactly what is a good bit rate and adjustment that would give best loud volume on phone speaker.

I prefer to hear the song from the loudspeaker, not using the headset.

    Welcome from all comments.

    Thanks.

  20. Thanks for the reply.
