  1. Well, not exactly. Not everyone remains equal in the internet. Quick reference are the mods and admins. They maintain a higher status then you do. But talking about everyone else. I guess is not really equality, its just that we do not care the age of the other person or our modality as we do when we speak in front of someone else.

Years ago... I was surfing through web, chating with people. Anyway, someone was wrong and I had to correct him ;) So we exchanged messages then I learned he's a middle aged man. That hit me. To that point, in my mind he too also a teenager. So I kinda fell remorse, I felt like i acted disrecpectull to an elder.
Just think about it, our minds cant talk to a monitor so we create an avatar for the people we talk on web. But because we know so little things about them, our mind copies our own identity.

So that's why we are absolutely equal on web. It doesnt matter if your partner is rich or poor, black or white, educated or a high school drop out, older or younger. Until the point he/she tells you, in your mind he/she is the same person as you are.

On web we are all anonymous, so we are all equal. We can all talk both without fear or without prejudices. You cant be racist to someone anonymous. Lets get back to my original example. In that year, I was young and shy... I couldnt argue with older people but on web it doesnt matter.

    Did you catch my drift?

So you may show me web sites like Facebook or Hi5 where people put their real ID. But well... these web sites arent for discussions. The forums are still alive!

And you may also say anonymous are resulted in E-thugs. People who talks like "noob, f-ck u" or upload shity videos who bash many things. Well, that's the result of equallty. In real life that e-thug is acting normal because he's afraid of your muscles. He would talk like that in RL too if he had same power as you.

    What do you think?

  2. Neither Microsoft nor Yahoo have the capacity to beat Google. Even if they unite forces, they are not sufficiently useful to take down Google. The reason does not lye in the power such agencies possess or in the reputations o technologies they could develop. It all comes down to the working environment, Google is king at this. Google has the ability to make workers comfortable and feel at home. Have you see how things are ran in Google. That is workers paradise.

  3. Really? The Article is about 2 years old and nothing has happened with this revolutionary creation. Set Backs of this new data storing devise it is not water proof you, get that thing wet and everything is gone. How do you get the pictures into paper? Printing them? Looks like you depend a lot in your printers quality. Computers usually produce heat, how will the paper handle being exposed to the heat? Will the image distort? As it was said before, what about wrinkles? The slightest disturbances in the shape of the paper would cause severe data corruption. Is laminating a solution to avoid this? What if the glare causes a misread? To good to be useful.

  4. I don't hate smokers, I hate uncivilized smokers. Most smokers I know are polite enough to walk into a open air space where no one will be affected by the cigarette's smoke. But occasionally there is a jerk that does not seem to notice that it is not polite to smoke in the face of people. Such a friend of a cousin, that jerk will smoke in your face and walk with you if you start to walk away. I don't mind the smoke because of the possible damages it can cause... I hate it because it is uncomfortable to have around you.

  5. During the last couple of weeks, I have noticed that there are some people in this community who reply to posts dealing with religions that they are "not religious because they are atheists and don't believe in God".
In my opinion, this argument is inconsistent in two points:

    1) By using the term "God", these people miss the point that there are not only monotheistic religions [Jews/Christians/Muslims - based on one and the same God. Read their holy scriptures before denying this and open a new thread if you want to discuss this...] but also polytheistic religions like most nature-bound religions [there are countless of them all over the world, the most well-known are the ancient greek and roman religions and Hinduism. I'm not sure about the existence of actual "Gods" in Buddhism right now].

    2) Atheists, though not as well-organized as most religious people, do the same as religious people do - claim to have evidence about one or more god's existence (which is supposed to proof the non-existence of any gods).

Due to this behavior very similar to that of religious people, I suggest atheism should be considered 'some form' [sorry, I haven't thought this through yet either] of religion.

well, what shall we do with those who want to keep on claiming to be not religious?

There's still a way left to be able to express an opinion on religious matters which does not make it necessary to take a clear position on the existence of god(s):

"I am not able to prove God(s)'s existence but I am also unable to prove its non-existence [, but I have an opinion to the matter being discussed, regardless of god's influence or non-influence on this...]"

you got it all wrong my friend, atheism is not a religion not even close. We atheist do not spend time searching the non-existences of gods... we simply do not care about it. I don't care if christianity has Jehovah and Jesus, I don't care y Islam has Allah, I don't care anything. I just live my life without bothering to care if there is one god, two gods, three gods o none... it is not important to me.

  6. Racism has its diverse causes and motives. Racism is basically the result of a group feeling superior to another group. A certain group might feel superior over another one because they believe that this other group is of a disgraceful race, religion, physical appearance? etc. A clear example of this is the racism of white people against black people. But also this particular racial discrimination has its historical background. When Europeans invaded African lands, they enslaved Africans who are of black skin and considered them to be inferior. Europeans ?whites ? captured blacks and sold them in slave markets, took their property, considered their descendants born to be slaves, and abused them in every way. Another example of racism is when Adolf Hitler considered the Aryan race as a ?master race? and all other races are inferior to the ?master?. Hitler?s racist thoughts were his excuse to exterminate other races such as Jews which resulted in the Holocaust. Another reason for racism is unfamiliarity or fear of the different. When you grow up within a community you would get accustomed to the traditions and habits of your community, but once you get in touch with someone of another community that might be vastly different from yours, you would probably fear that person or at least feel uncomfortable around him. This same idea could be applied on groups; unfamiliarity between groups would create wrong stereotypical ideas about others and therefore lead to racial discrimination against them. An example of this is the racism against Muslims especially after 9/11. Unfortunately, most Europeans and Americans now view Muslims as terrorists; this is also fed by the Western propaganda which delivers the news to the Western people (Americans and Europeans) in a very subjective way rather than objective way according to the benefits of their governments.

I do not agree with this part, the essences of racism is not feeling a superior race, because discrimination based on race exists even between a race. Even though no one sees it that way. People within the same race say the most racists comments to someone of their same race.

  7. Ouija boards are fake. Some college in the U.S. did a study on them. They had a group of students participate in a 'game' with the board in it's normal position, with the 'yes' in the top left, 'no', top right. After several minutes, about ten, they put blindfolds on the students, and flipped the board. They asked the 'ghost' a question, I believe it was "Are you real?", then the piece moved to the top left, where there was no yes, nor no. So yeah, they are fake.

I agree here, it is just a board game. Honestly never knew why they made a big deal of it.

  8. You know, one point some people haven't pointed out is that, if marijuana use was legalized, there'd actually be less usage of the drug. I'm not saying that these druggies will move on to harder drugs, but some people actually do mari- just because it's illegal. Just like if "piracy" was loosened, there'd be less "real" piracy around because people would support the artists directly if they like them.

Of course, there's always the problem of smoking it, so I'm going to point this out: smoking marijuana should be illegal. As long as it's not smoked, I'm perfectly okay with it. Just like if people chew tobacco, they can do it all they want, even in public places, and I won't care; they just have to be over 19 to be able to buy it.

But then again, this is no reason not to legalize marijuana. Just because smoking it is bad, doesn't mean ingesting it in other forms is as bad.

If someone is going to get hard on marijuana, they're an idiot, but that's their choice. Just because 14,000 people die in car accidents each year doesn't mean driving should be illegal. It's only drunk driving that should be illegal. Same goes with tobacco and marijuana. Like I said, as long as it's not smoked, let it be legal!

Exactly, just as in the Netherlands, when something commonly used when illegal and becomes legal its popularity drastically drops. Come on who would indulge into the excitement of buying marijuana in their local supermarket. Most do it for the rush of adrenaline or sensation that they are breaking the law and getting away with. Anyways don't care if its legal or illegal, I don't use it or plan on using it anyways.

  9. Well I guess most of us are easy to figure, but some of us are hard to decipher and might have you eating from the hand because you fell for it. Are we dumb? Not all of us, but hey there is a whole bunch of dumb girls too, I guess it is contagious. You think algebra is the devil' tool? nah, wait til you get to differential equations, if you ever get there, those things are evil hahaha

  10. ok these have been puzzling me
if mineral water has been trickling down millions of years why does it have a expiary date on the bottle???

do blind people dream? Do They Dream?

    Square root of pie?

hotdogs come in packs of 8 and hotdog rolls come in packs of 10 why?

[1] Really have this questions puzzled you? Or is it just a silly way to create a new thread, any ways posts are posts and I benefit from them so lets get to it.

[2] This is for several reasons 1) Its a liability issue, since the water in the bottle cannot be guaranteed to be 100% pure. The bottling companies use this date to clean their hands of any possible problems caused by impurities in the water after much time has passed from the bottling date. 2) Its a business, by adding the date they force to get rid-off the water in a certain period of time, its their way of controlling that the shelves in supermarkets are not kept full with the same bottles always... where would their business go? 3) Its in a plastic container, an over exposure could change the taste of the product.

[3] Yes, in fact they do dream. The way they perceive dreams depends on how blind they are... meaning if they lost their ability to see at certain point of their life or were they blind from birth. In the scenario were they where once able to see, they have dreams like we do. They are even able to see in dreams. In the second case when they are blind from birth they can only have auditory dreams since they cannot see an image they have never seen in real life.

[4] It all depend on the size of the cut.... lame joke I know... know seriously answering the question, a good approximation is 1.77245385 but 1.772453850905516027298167483341 is more precise, yet, it is not exact since Pi is not an exact number, The exact answer would be √(╥) or √(pi) or ╥^(1/2) or pi^(1/2)

[5] It all depends on the brands you buy. Sometimes the franks brand you prefer or like the most comes in a pack of 8 and the buns you like in a pack of 10 or the other way around. But in fact they are packages of matching proportions.

  11. Hello everyone.

this weekend i joined a nice karate class that focusses heavily on self defence (half the lesson was self defence with the other half equally warm up and kata so it really is good for SD :D) Anyway, the instructor had a Kubaton (think its spelt right) which is one of these:

    Posted Image

used to hurt pressure points and therefore take control of a situation. Now im looking for a self defence tool that is also a keychain, this way its concealable and explainable to police etc while still being practical. I thought about a kubaton but its not as easy to explain, its rather clear its a weapon, and in the UK the government is practically a dictatorship and so even such a small tool as this could easilly land me a fine and a criminal record for "carrying a weapon" yeah... 'cause im gonna mug someone with that aint i.... So i kept looking and heard stories of a "sharpshooter" keychain which is this:

    Posted Image

basically the weight near the keys adds power and you swing it like a flail at the face etc and just slash and cut and hurt, also for self defence and it seems better than a kubaton becuase it has longer range and would need less technique (as for the kabuton you need to get the attacker into the right position so you can easily pinpoint pressure points and use it properly)

so does anyone know the name of such a keychain in the UK? Ive tried sharpshooter but i jsut get guns and slingshots etc... I did find one similar, it was a metal chain, about twice the length of that one i linked with the keyring on the end and this looks very useful and easy to explain ( "yes officer its just my keychain that i clip to my belt so i dont drop my keys"). Are there any websites that sell such things? Im looking on ebay but they dont seem to have any and i cant find any sites. Im thinking of making my own from a length of chain from a hardware store, a belt clip/loop and taking the ring off a standard keyring. I have 5 keys so it will have weight to it. Does this seem a good idea?

PS: I dont want any "you shouldnt carry weapons blah blah blah" Maybe i shouldnt but this isnt just a weapon, its not illegal, its virtually impossible to turn back on myself because it will need practice and its not as if i could ever use it to mug someone but its perfect for defending myself.

Personally I would go a bit with your las comment... aren't you taking karate lessons? Well what more of a self defense weapon other then your legs and arms do you need? Soon, with hard practice, you will become able to control any possible threat (that would be controlled with a kubaton) with your own hands.

  12. I say ignore them once in a while and they will come to hunt, I mean really once in a while because if it is over down you won't be seen her again... Don't know why but it seems to work. I guess they always want to be the center of attention so when you kind of give them the back they hunt for your attention. Make them feel they are not your number one priority, but when they come back to you make them feel they are you got.

  13. I live in South Texas as well, Corpus Christi to be more specific.
There's nothing with Hispanics or any other ethnicity coming here legally. The topic at hand is ILLEGAL immigration, which hurts everyone.
First off, most illegals DO NOT file income taxes, and that's where we're hurt the most. They leech of of social programs, and you CANNOT argue that this is not doing harm. It raises the amount of taxes that legal citizens pay in order to handle the influx of non-tax paying Illegal immigrants.

It puts strains on public school systems as well. My ex-gf's mom was a school teacher and she always explained to me how they had to let illegal citizens in to the school, even if they couldn't speak a lick of English.

And the issue with illegals taking jobs isn't just one of them offering cheap labor. For one, it surely won't lower the end price, the money saved from cheap labor will just go to the man in charge. But it's also the fact that in most cases, Illegals are paid under the table, which puts further strain on social programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

Illegal immigration is a huge problem. I'm all for immigration, but like I've already said, get the hell in line and wait your turn. After that they can work for cheap and take advantage of social programs, but at least they're getting taxed for it just like everyone else.

To say most do not file income taxes is as wrong as saying that all file income taxes. No matter if they are working a cheap labor or being well payed, most get payed by means of a check not in cash under the table as you suggest thats why ICE raids are possible. Taxes are being deducted from that check. Where does that money go? Does it come back when they file income taxes? No it does not because they are not legal... trust me seen it in my family and many others. Legal or illegal every person in the US is paying taxes. The differences between legals and illegals is that the legal worker can get a Tax refund but the illegal worker can't.... yeah I see the government complaining about that.

  14. Aliens? Where? From what planet do they come from? That's all BS. Why do you think the government does not really control the borders? It would be simple, militarize the border. I assure no one will cross that border if there is military presence. How come that is not done? It is not done because that illegal immigration brings more benefit then harm to the US. Sure some illegals are just an extra weight on the public systems but those numbers come down to hundred thousands when there are at least 11 million illegals (just considering Mexicans). What about those that taking money from lets say Welfare or not using any particular states medical aid because I in first hand know that most Mexicans do not utilize them, most of them sustain themselves, most cure themselves with only their economic resources. Want to talk about education? Heck, Schools Districts where there is a heavy population of immigrants receive a lot less state funds... for instances Santa Ana, CA Unified School District has and will always receive less funds then lets say Mission Viejo, CA Unified School District. Lets get back to the main point... why does the government not stop illegal immigration? one simple answer is ...... INCOME TAXES... we all file them... even those ILLEGAL MEXICANS do it.... they do it with the idea that one day they would become legal residents and do not want not filing income taxes affect them... Trust me I have a closer view on this then most of you have...

  15. Do not lie to yourself, thats the worst thing you could ever do. You say your current boyfriend is all that you ever wanted... clearly he ain't because you also want looks. Honestly, I believe that you are the time a woman that would prefer a jerk just because of a better physique... such a shame. It is better to end that relationship now, because obviously he is not as lucky as you are.
