  1. Personally I think its kind of impossible to name "The Best Rock Band." Genres are a hard thing to consider since they kind of limit people to demographics, but at the same time you have to be able to explain a difference between 50 Cent and Pink Floyd. Plus theres the fact that bands are half innovative, half inspiration. I mean, all a band really is is a sum of all their influences. That being said, in a classic sense the Beatles were amazing for their time and really changed a lot. Modern band; probably Tool for me.
  2. For the record, Maynard was just kidding. Hes still very much involved in Tool and APC. I think the Jesus thing was a play off of Head leaving Korn for Christ or whatever.I definitely agree with Soundgarden. They broke up just because they decided it was time to. No arguments, no failing record sales. They made amazing music and then just kind of stopped. I guess it was smart though, since Pearl Jam was around at the same time and now they're kind of touring endlessly and not many people care anymore.
  3. I just wanted to use my first post here to recommend a great band I think everyone needs to hear.If you're into stuff like Tool and A Perfect Circle, you should check out dredg. These guys are out of Los Gatos, California, and I'm good friends with them. They are signed to Interscope and have a new record coming out on June 21st.Their previous releases, "Leitmotif" and "El Cielo" were well received by underground sites like http://www.theprp.com/and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. This is band is still relatively underground, so they have small shows with intimate settings. The best thing I can tell you about this band is that they are at once familiar to the ears and at the same time challenging and unique. Soaring melodies, chugging basslines, impressive and odd drumming and inspiring guitar lines. Their last album "El Cielo" was a themed album based off of Sleep Paralysis and a painting by Salvador Dali.Recommended downloads; "Same Ol' Road" "Symbol Song" "Of The Room" "Bug Eyes" http://dredg.com/ https://myspace.com/browser http://www.purevolume.com/dredg/ The purevolume page has a much better bio, and the myspace page has a new song to download. Enjoy guys.
