  1. Thanks for the input! I have decided not to upgrade as of now because it seems that it is not essential.
  2. Thank you for the advice! I wasn't going to invest in a new ibook, but I was just wondering if it was possible. It would probably cost more than it's worth, though, like you said.
  3. I hope that sales in Apple go up because I'm tired of software companies making software that only works on Windows and websites having features only for Windows, et cetera. I use a G3 ibook and genuinely believe that Apples are superior computers because there are less problems with them. The only time I had to bring my computer in was when my dog stepped on my laptop and my "D" key came off while I was evacuating from Hurricane Ivan last year, and that wasn't my computer's fault! I think that macs are faster, easier to deal with, and cheaper in the long run (you don't need a lot of repairs). That's one of the big drawbacks- there is no monitor! You have to buy a monitor, which will probably cost another $100-$200 or more, depending how much you want to spend on a monitor. I'm not bashing Apple because I love my ibook (although it's an ancient g3...).
  4. I think the reason why you cannot upload your own fonts to the server is because of license and copyright issues. You can, however, have a link on your site that says "To best view this site, make sure you have blah blah font downloaded, and you can download it at so and so dot com." That way you can make sure that viewers will see the site the way it is supposed to look if they want to. The text will show up no matter what, but it will come out in times new roman or times. Basically these are some of the fonts that are mainly used on all OS's that you can feel safe using: Impact Verdana Times new roman Times Comic Sans MS Arial
  5. Ugh, I hate casinos. Why do they have to disturb our peace online? I get a lot of those gambling pop ups. "Guess who this movie star is to win $10,000!" It's SO ANNOYING. I do not think that msn or any other web site should endorse gambling because it causes addiction, and people who are trying to get help with normal casinos can now gamble in the privacy of their own home. How sick is that?
  6. How do you know this works? This looks like a scam, and the reason why I say this is because I have been involved in things like this before (such as receive e-mail and take surveys in order to get paid, et cetera) and I never saw the money. Have you actually been paid yet, or do you just have high hopes?
  7. I switched in 2003 to using an ibook and I have never regretted the change. The ibook stays connected to the internet (broadband) when the other computers (Windows) in the house are down, and there are less viruses for the mac to get. I like the interface more, I love the design and sleek look. I love how easy it is to use a mac. I had no problem adjusting to OS X.
  8. Of course you can! I have a g3 strawberry imac that is way out of date that I bought on eBay for $90 and I upgraded it to OS10. It doesn't have a lot of memory so it's slow, but it is possible to change the OS. You may need to add memory for speed, however.
  9. I have read some rave reviews and also a couple of disappointed reviews about Tiger, so I was wondering what your opinion of it is. I have OS 10.2.8 with a G3 and was wondering 1)would it work on my computer, a G3, 2)what are its advantages and 3)what are the problems with it (ie disadvantages?)??? I probably cannot afford it for a long while but I am wondering whether I should invest in something like this. Also, can you upgrade a G3 ibook to a higher G4 or G5? That's hardware, isn't it?
  10. Can you explain what you are saying, please? I don't quite understand because you seem to jump from topic to topic without being clear or explaining any of the topics that you discuss. Please talk <type> more slowly.
  11. I like the ones you posted, especially the lion! I like this one because it is beautiful and very though provoking. You don't quite know what's going on in it, so everyone will probably have a different interpretation. Post your personal interpretation! I'm interested!
  12. Haha, I was wondering that myself! Your art is extraordinary, it really is! You are very talented. You have an interest in the supernatural and the extraterretrial it seems, which is very cool. I love how you made a semi realistic portrait of yourself, then you made it with just a skeleton-like image, then with the extraterrestrial appearance... very creative! You know how to use the right colors and how to shade well. Good for you! I've tried drawing with a mouse and it just doesn't come out at all... even if it is just editing a photo! I don't have a graphics tablet, unfortunately. I think that the sand one is my favorite, too! Like I said before, this guy really knows how to use the right colors and how to shade... it is mind boggling how good it is!! I really admire his ability.
  13. That's exactly the impression that I had when viewing these photos. Unless s/he just made them from scratch, that is. The edges seem to be very pixelated.
  14. Actually we did warn them, but it was a cultural thing- I think our scientists warned their scientists instead of going to the head of the government or something like that, and in that culture the scientists do not report things to the government. It was something tragic like that.
  15. Yes, in memory of all those people who died. May they rest in peace. It was a terrible tragedy. I am taking a geology class right now so we covered this a little bit. I also saw a special on the history channel that was on tsunamis, so check your local listings or go to historychannel.com to see when it may come on again. I think they have been repeating it a lot. Basically they said on the program that some scientists in the west saw twenty four hours before the tsunami occurred that it was coming, and they notified the countries, but they did not notify the correct people or something like that. Therefore, none of the locals were warned. One aboriginal (spelling?) group actually knew that it was coming and ran away to safety. One elephant left the zoo and came back after the tsunami was over, asking to be fed. The program on the history channel said that many of the people were unaware of the coming danger because the skies were clear and the day was beautiful. The tsunami is not a huge tidal wave that comes at once but actually a series of very long-lasting smaller waves, only about 15-20 feet high. The problem is that they are so enormous in length that it fills up the land very quickly. That is why they are so dangerous. Thanks for the post!
