  1. I think phpbb is the best bet if you are not demanding feature packed. Lots of hacks and help can be found in their forum as well. Anyway, their next version is looking good so it might be possible to switch later and won't have much hassle. Demo : free forums
  2. If you want it as easy as possible, you can add something like Forumotion to your site under a subdomain. It is actually hosted remotely, but they let you set up a CNAME to their servers so it looks just like part of your site. http://www.forumotion.com/
  3. From a use point of view I love that in phpbb when you post a message you have the choice to: Go to your message or Go to the forum you posted in. In vb you must read your own message before getting out of the thread - how annoying. I use phpbb and it works great. Demo : free forums
  4. of course I like phpbb because its free and easy to update with great tools and easy to get support in installing mods or styles, free is the best. Demo : free forum
  5. I have been using phpBB3 for as long as it has been out. Before I did not like phpBB2 however this new version is awesome. It brings it right up to par with the other systems. I like it better than some of the paid scripts because of its large base community. Demo: free forum hosting
  6. I suggest using http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ of features and easy to use :mellow:Even a 13 year old (like me) could make one using forumotion
  7. I've always used Forumotion.com since the moment I found it... a few years ago, maybe? It was pretty early in my roleplay years that I found it, and I thought it was pretty easy to use compared to proboards. Yeah, it has some extra buttons, but they're easy to use or ignore. =3
  8. In my opinion, phpBB is the best forum software. It's easy, full featured, very customizable, and very popular. Just try it out on this host : free forums
  9. PHPBB simpler to use and easier to integrate with your website. 1000s of themes available and now PHPBB3 (under development) you have many features which you get mostly in paid BB softwares. so PHPBB is the best. if you want a hosted PhpBB3 forum: free forum hosting
  10. The best forum software is definately, without a doubt invisionboard. Costly yes but when you have it it is spectacular. If you want to see a "preview" visit this free forum hosting

  12. Among free and open source software, phpBB tops my list. Fairly good product, huge MOD database, and pretty good support. If you haven't got much time, and want to see what the new phpbb3 can offer, just try it out on this host : create forum Hope this can help!
  13. when I first started I was using phpBB2, and now I upgraded to phpBB3 and I must say phpBB3 is very good. What I love about phpBB, is how you can just customize the hell out of it, vBulletin, IPB... you can also do the same, but with phpBB (at least to me) the sky is the limit... plus its free. If you haven't got much time, and want to see what the new phpbb3 can offer, just try it out on this host : free forum hosting

    Best Forum Software

phpBB has a simple, user-friendly interface, a helpful FAQ and a generous administrator control panel. You can choose the databases server (MySQL, MS-SQL, PostgreSQL or Access/ODBC), the functionalities (at first I was a little discouraged by the mods installation process but I found great support on the online community and the documentation they provide answered all my questions) the skins... Everything is customizable so you can create the forum you wish. If you haven't got much time, and want to see what the new phpbb3 can offer, just try it out on this host : free forum hosting Hope this can help!
  15. Have you heard about forumotion? It's very easy to sign up, you simply need to provide the forum name, subdomain (what will appear in the URL), password, email address and the category of the forum. All of this takes around two minutes, after which you can choose the initial forum skin, then you are taken directly to your new forum. Give it a try : create forum
