Man...I just got my account setup yesterday, and find out today they cancelled it?! Without notice through email...as soon as I got the account info, I couldn't use cpanel....man what a disappointment. I understand about the server costing to much, and them stopping free hosting...just think they could have given us better notice, and/or more time to complete what we were doing, or save the stuff we had done.

does it mean my free hosting i got here will be deleted? Does it mean all of us are just a way for advertising this site? All of those are just to make us vote for your site?

If you've still got FTP access, then you should try copying the backup file from whatever directory it was saved on to your hard drive (obviously, you can do this by simply highlighting the file and moving it into a folder on your hard drive). o_o

I believe it has something to do with this: http://forums.xisto.com/

I can't make a backup because none of the links work. Means when I try to download the .tar.gz file I always get error.I have full access to Fantastico.vuguild.xerox-hosting.com doesen't work.xerox-hosting.com/~emilin doesen't work.I'm just posting here so that I don't have to bug the already busy admins. Maybe one of the members might know the answer. And even if not, I have an older back ups to work on.

What sort of problems have you been having? OpenOffice works fine for me. I use OpenOffice and occasionally Apple Works (because it doesn't have autoformat). As soon as iWork arrives I'll use that. And all three of those options are considerably cheaper than MSOffice.

You know you can watch movies on Linux . And don't forget Mac OS X which owns windows as a home desktop enviorment both in look and stability. Oh there are some cool games for Linux too. Half-life came out for it. And I remember this one game that game with Red Hat 5.2. It was called xKill funniest game ever.

There isn't a single major OS that doesn't have a built in firewall . In fact I believe windows was the last one to adopt it. All the browsers that come on OS X and Linux (Safari, Konqueror, Mozilla, etc) all have built-in pop-up blockers. Guess who was last to add that feature to their browser? You guessed it, Microsoft. You now I just looove microsoft's hardware detection I plug a flash drive or my iPod in and it says, "New hardware pluged in do you want to install drivers?" No I do not want to install the drivers again. When I plug on of those into my Macintosh there isn't any fanfare no annoying little messages telling me "Oh my god you just plugged in a USB device we at Microsoft are so proud of you", a little icon just comes up in the Finder and I access it like any other drive. Lastly I am not using DOS to do anything. In fact the GUI for Microsoft is one of the worst (and by extension that includes Linux's since KDE and GNOME seem to closely resemble Windows). Aqua on Macintosh is far far better than microsoft's. It is simple, no useless clutter and things you don't need. The Dock is so much better than a taskbar. No hiding things when there are too many programs for the taskbar to keep track of. And a lot less desktop clutter, as I can keep almost all the programs I need quick access to right at the bottom of my screen. example. And then Exposč the windows manager is absolutely awesome. Hitting F9 arranges all my open windows in little thumbnail screen shots so I can bring to the front without minimizing (something Microsoft claim's they'll do in Longhorn with their 3D GUI, that will use a lot more resources than Exposč does). F10 does the same for an active program. And F11 hides all the windows so I can quickly get to my desktop. Expose in Action That was a lot longer than I intended it to be, but now you get the picture about why microsoft sucks after you use anything else.

Well i was just getting rid of my site today, and maybe i've accidently deleted a file i shouldn't have, but now i get a 403 error when i try to access my website. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I checked back at the logs but i can't seem to find anything wrong. Maybe somethings up with my account. Can you please help. PS: I tried searching for a help forum too...only suggestion/bugs forum thing. PS2: I can't access anything thats from xerox-hosting. It's all forbidden. Did i get banned? or something?

C&C please... And do you think I sould swap my current one in?

Hey, do you know latin too? But are you sure you have all the cases right in the last one? Because you have three nominatives, with differing numbers, and a genitive. Wouldn't Power of the Voice just be vis vocis? Or are you trying to get four v's in there? But I like the idea of having the name be latin.

Nah I want to know about the big band stuff, but no one said anything to me

Yeah you did, but its really good. I have a story! Everyone get comfy...I got a new computer and used it for about a week then installed a bum file and i got pop ups. Then I downloaded Ad-Aware and it found seven or eight files to trash and that was good. Then Ad-Aware told my my dectecting ability was over100 days old or something I was like "huh?!?!" cause I just downloaded it anyways I installed the new dectector rays and it found over 150 things to remove on one sweep of my drive - wow! and it was less than a week old, amazing. So thats my story. You can all get up and have a snack now.

I agree with Miketron. I can't remember now, but when I went to school they always thought us that earth's natural resources take several thousand, some even several million years to renew. There is also a possibility of extracting power from magma, but it would be a b*** to dig deep in the earth for enough lava. Anyone got more info on this?
