  1. I failed English, but that's not an excuse for me.I know I make a few mistakes here and there, I also notice when other people do, just like in the post above that Shooting Star made, with using "you're" instead of "your" as well as a few grammatical errors but I am not going to complain unless it honestly makes no sense at all.The basis of any communication is that it gets understood. That's it, you could have so many spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, but if the message can still be interpretted correctly, then you've passed the communication test. People do find those little tidbits annoying, but it's a fact of life that people will make errors, the only thing you could do to improve that is to learn from your mistakes and never be negative when people do criticise you. Just look at it that they actually cared enough to point your errors out, and are trying to be helpful. Now the question is, why did I fail English? That's simple for me, I felt that we were not being taught English. Test me on my spelling and grammar and I'd pass, maybe not 100% but it'd be a pass none the less, test me on knowing why an author writes a book in a particular way, and to get inside his head and think like him, I'll fail, because I don't think like others and that's the whole idea of being considered unique. I'd feel if they like writing books, then that's a good enough reason why they would write it or else they would do something else I would think.I know I've liked computers since the age of 4, so that is why I am involved with computers now. I do have other interests other than computers, but if someone was to think why I chose a career in computers then the obvious answer is because I like working with computers. There might be other reasons why, that could have limited my choices, but if we are to think of all the probable outcomes, we'd be here forever, so that is why I failed English. You can still be successful none the less, don't ever let anything stand in your way.I apologise for any spelling and grammatical errors that may arise in this document. That is the work of tiny gremlins that come along and alter it so that nothing will be perfect.Cheers,MC
  2. Here's a tutorial I wrote last year on this, I also created the favicon you see here on Xisto. This tutorial also has answers of getting IE to show a favicon but the method is only a small trick, and not permanent. It's further down the tutorial in one of my other posts, on it. Add Favicon To Your Site Another thing to note, there is no mime-type image/ico, the correct mime-type is image/x-icon. When specifying the location, we can use absolute URLs or relative URIs, it's best to use URIs since it could be confused for an address you could visit. Cheers, MC
  3. i use it bcos my ISP put a hardware filter to block p2p traffic for bittorrent etc. lucky they dont block limewire as well
  4. It's odd though, what if he knew he was going to die, and wanted to die doing something he enjoyed/ Like playing games or something? I think that's the case and he just wanted to live his life the way he wanted to before he died. Although it was 2 days, he was either trying to kill himself, or knew it would happen sooner or later. Or maybe he was being hounded by some group of gangsters for doing something we haven't heard about? THE POSSIBILITIES !!I think it's not because of the game, but because something else was the issue for this man. It's just we weren't given all the details and were just given what happened during the incident. Now if they added what he was doing there, or why, and how his past is, then that's a different story.
  5. i have gmail invites... email me at msi645@gmail.com
  6. I think it's a cool idea. I might want to get one if there is any kind like that around here. I doubt there are at the moment though. But is it safe? I mean, cell phones are easy to hack and stuff I heard, if someone gets a hold of your cell phone, you better watch out who has it because they might just spend all your money. I sometimes lend my friend my cell phone, so he can make calls and stuff that are local. If someone was to borrow it while it has money on it, I'd be a bit more paranoid.
  7. Yeah, its horrible... I dont know whats the meaning of making viruses and distroy others computer. I hate Viruses, they stuck on my computer and I have to find them and remove them... Hello

Hey everyone, just found this community today, looking forward to getting to know the people here, seems like a cool place to hangout on. Merry Christmas Everyone
  9. I don't think you can do that, or maybe the admin can do that for you..
  10. I've been playing more Capcom VS SNK MB for playstation 2. Gosh that game is so fun to play these days. I can definitely tell that I'm getting better when I play this at home then at school against friends. I'm a big fan of the 2d genre fighting games more than the 3d like Soul Calibur and Tekken etc. I seriously hope that the 2d genre doesn't die out as these 3d ones come out >_<
  11. It kinda looks like Haku has lipstick on. HAha, that just seems wrong to me even though he looks like a girl still. Overall, they look nice.
  12. Alright I just tried this and added a few things to mine, and it clearly makes a difference. From about 30 seconds to shut down before, now it only takes about... 10 seconds compared to last time. It went to 8 after I changed a few things. So yeah, some good stuff, but I'm wondering, are any of these things safe to do? Doesn't the computer need its time to shut down for a reason? I hope it doesn't hurt my computer
  13. Be sure to buy a good warranty because you'll be needing it. I don't think there's any way to avoid it being easily damaged at all. Also, it will be expensive as heck if you think about it.
  14. pretty cool, its not choppy, but for me the BG is not transparent.

    Hi All

Hi im .DJim here for a website.
  16. First of all YES you do need some sort of layer between the heatsink & CPU.One of the problems with transferring the heat between the processor and the heatsink has to do with the thermal interface. Neither the heatsink nor the processor has a completely smooth surface. This introduces air pockets that exist between the two materials and air has a very high thermal resistance or a poor heat conductor. Many modern double paned windows use this fact of air's poor heat conductivity as an insulator, but that is the opposite effect you want to happen with computer components. To help alleviate this problem, thermal compounds are used to fill in the gaps between the two surfaces. There are 4 types of thermal compounds used: thermal tape, thermal pads, thermal grease and thermal epoxy.Sounds like your heatsink has a pad already applied to it. If so all you have to do is install it atop the processor.Heatsinks vary depending on a few factors including airflow and mounting holes so yea it does matter which one you have. You obviously want one that will properly install onto the motherboard and supply sufficient cooling. Especially if you plan to overclock.
  17. I agree...I have been using XOOPS for some time and have been very satisfied with it. Installing is very straightforward and the multitude of customizable modules and themes available provide excellent personalization and the ability to even create totally new ones if you are so inclined to do so. I do have my doubts however about the most recent release so I prefer the older version...I am anxiously awaiting the release of XOOPS 4 âXoosphereâ, slated for completion 1st half of 2006. Hopefully it will be much better then the current version!

  19. This is very interesting! Wow! 7.1GHz?? I never heard of this before although I have been interested in overclocking for some time. The bad thing about overclocking is it can really damage your computer (CPU & Motherboard mostly) because of the increased voltage that needs to be applied to the CPU & RAM, not to mention additional cooling needed due to increased heat generation. Some motherboards allow you to step up the CPU and RAM voltage to allow overclocking so it really depends on what board you have.

  21. I would call this a bug, what I think happens if I recall correctly is that IE does not store the fullpath and name of the file you want to use. If it only stores notepad, it would rely on the name only ignoring extensions since the extension path would be used (in an order of preference too), I also believe you're running IE from the desktop, this would be the location that IE would be in when running it, so looking for notepad in it's current location first (on the desktop) would have higher priorty than using the path names, since it checks it's local place first, then if not found follows the path names through the order they were given looking for it. What I'd like to know is, if you change the source code viewer's name to iexplorer would it run IE? Infact is that the case with any of it's choices, mail client, news reader etc. I don't run windows, but that's the best explanation I can give about this. Cheers, MC
  22. OMG THAT ACTUALLY works i have been looking the whole time. thanks alot
  23. The game i like is battlefield 2, it is the BOMB
  24. Oh now that you mention it, that's right haha. Hm... Yeah usually the autocorrect does the small things for me too, just not this time... Another thing I better keep my guard up
