  1. After asking a friend how much a cup of coffee costs (I can?t stand the stuff) I think that I just might do that. Or I could wait for my uncle to retire to use thefamilysurname.com. But I think you mean ?It?s never to early to consider yourself a true professional.? Or else I totally have to rework what you meant by that entire statement. I read most of those links already, Mich, and I don?t think posting will be a problem. Online text RPGs usually jump down your throat if you don?t write well. I?m pretty sure I read that points come from character count divided by 300 or something, and then they?re screened for quality. But the people who read enough to know that are the people who won?t take advantage of it by being extra wordy. Thanks for the welcome. I?ll be around somewhere.
  2. Totally better than dumpsters.I know of a similar law in my state where yes, you can give up your baby, no questions asked. I think it works until about a week after birth. I totally don?t want to start a debate on abortion, but I think this ties in closely. You don?t know the circumstances of how it happened, or anything that might prevent the mother from being able to care for the baby. I think that changing this law, while it would stop encouraging teen pregnancy, would cause some trouble when women really have to give up their babies. It might have been Abraham Lincoln who said something along the lines of ?It?s better to let 100 guilty men walk free than to convict one innocent man.? That?s nowhere near as nice as he put it, but the point is the same. Better many babies with adoptive families than even a single one with a horrible home that can?t take care of it (or a baby dead in a dumpster.)As for the rest of it, I?m against sex before marriage, but a lot of kids think it?s ok. Our health classes encourage abstinence, but tell kids that if they?re going to do it, this is how to do it safely. Unfortunately, I don?t have a clue what these silly people are thinking. As soon as we figure it out, it's possible to actually do something about it.
  3. I?m glad we agree on that. The fact that I haven?t found any really good resources for the style I practice could have nothing to do with whether or not they exist and everything to do with my inability to find them. It?s great that yours gives you applications. I?ve only found one video explaining the application of an unusual double block to uppercut combo. There?s actually a grab in there with the one hand that you don?t do when performing it. Or maybe they just didn?t teach us, because some kids in class were too young to understand. That was years ago. I think I'll ask next time.
  4. Let me start by saying: Even if my school wasn?t ridiculous about ferreting out plagiarism, I would not use such a service. I morally object. Now on to the fun part. Jimmy: A resource like this would be useful for when you can?t get the work done for a reason, but have one of those teachers who refuses to acknowledge that students have outside lives. In my experience, those are the teachers who would care whether you wrote your own essay, even if you had done an equal share of someone else's work. BooZker (And Alex1sp34kL33t): The idea of having people submit for points with which to buy others? submissions. I think the idea has some merit. I?ve seen essays online before, but they have either been free (baaaaad idea) or for money. There will always be students who want to get prewritten essays but can?t, because their parents won?t lend them their credit card. These kids may well end up on a site like yours, if/when it exists. Their parents don't have to know. In addition, a lot of teenageres are still trying to decide what they believe in ethically and morally, and may decide that they?re ok with a service like yours. You?re not buying the essay. You?re earning it by putting in your fair share. Some of your market may come from people who would otherwise object.
  5. To be perfectly frank, my planned use of your free hosting is a huge eventuality. When I hit the professional world in a few years I plan on putting up an online portfolio. I'm an aspiring set designer for the theater. (And due to the nature of the work, there will be large gaps of time where I will spend every second of my free time sleeping. And still not getting nearly enough. :XD: ) One of the things that drew me to Xisto was that the domain wasn't something silly like "fr33websitez.com" I have no clue if that actually exists. If someone's got a subdomain on something like that, I'd have a hard time taking it seriously. From what I've read, you also have a wonderful service. This seemed like a nice enough forum on which you can find a place to talk about a whole bunch of different things. Aside from theater, I'm interested in science, and philosophy, and will probably end putting my two cents into the martial arts discussions quite often. (It's happened once already.) And I read a lot of books. (But for the love of whatever diety you believe in, I do not want to participate in any Harry Potter discussions. Deathly Hallows was wonderful. That's all I'm saying.)Hopefully I'll meet some interesting people here. Yay forums.
  6. Kata (japanese) = Forms (English) = Patterns (English) = Hyung (Korean) = Taolu (Chinese)If I may, I'd like to add the slight disclaimer that if you don't have basic training in martial arts, it is near impossible to learn from a video of someone just performing the form, unless it's really basic. What Mr Dee has for Shotokan Karate is nice, but I haven't been able to find a resource like that for any of the arts I've studied. (But if that's what you study, by all means, go for it. Learn the moves in order on your own time and concentrate on getting them right and with good technique while in class.)After taking a few years off of training, I used videos I searched on youtube to jog my memory and relearn a few of my forms, in the sense of "oh yea, that's what comes after that block." It was very helpful, but I wouldn't use anything I managed to find as the sole method of instruction.Basically, there's a right and wrong way to use this resource.Cheers.
