  1. I have a Sony Ericsson P990i which is a recent release of the Sony Ericsson P series phones. Sony Ericsson P series phones have always had an unique group of fans with its extremenly different features and build apart from tradition Sony ericsson phones. The phone runs on Symbian Operting System 9.1 which is almost a lateast version of Symbian. It is actually Symbian UIQ OS which is the most popular and powerful platform for the Touch screen mobile phones and PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) mobile phones. The Operating system is bit heavy for the phone hardware and so it often hangs up and slows down the phone. The phone is basically very Feature rich but the all the features are not upto the expectations according to me. The Wifi (WLAN IEEE 802.11a) is an amazing feature of this phone. This phone has 2 Mega Pixel camera and a 0.3 Mega pixel camera for video conferencing. It also has a flash support in the camera though the perfomance of the camera i nthe night is not upto the expectations actually. The Messaging features is bit very buggy. Often the phone does not alert on arrival of any Short Message Service Message. The phone gets back to normal state only after restarting the phone. The POP3 mail access is an amazing feature in the phone. It is basically also has a Push Message service. So that you can receivce mails on your phone like a SMS message in your phone inbox. The Opera browser with tabbed browsing is a bit good feature i in the browser.Coming to the physical appearance of the phone which is a draw back for the phone, it is very very bulky with its very normal curveless edges of the phone. The QWERTY keyboard makes it look like a real PDA though it is not so user friendly.

  2. Guess Nokia 1100 is a very big revolution in Indian mobile market. It is a really rugged phone which is resistant to damages wherever you drop it from.Apart from being very cheap it is very rugged phone. The key pad is very convenient for Messaging especially for college students in India who always keep messaging their friends. In my college 70% of the mobile phones are only Nokia 1100. Guess thats why it is called a phone Made for India. So people start adding up content to this thread...

any ways good post mate. :) :XD:

I guess you have mistaken the particular trick. It now even works in current phones and the network providers do not charge at all for this service. If your idea is something different from this. share your expereince also over here..

Append your full mobile number along with your mail address. Will send you a referal mail as soon as possible.

  5. This is one among the lots of hoaxes happening in the forums. How can google suddenly come up with such a solution. If there is something like that, why wont google officially announce about such a stuff to the world. Lets not create unnecessary hoaxes like this till google officialy tells us something about this......

  6. TravelMate is a new location based application that works without any GPS device or any other external hardware.

It is an entirely new concept of alerts and alarms for the mobile phone.

it works based on the Cell Info display that comes in our phones.

It records all the places you visit into the phone's memory and you can use these locations to set alarms.

For eg:- when you travel a long distance, you can set alarm to wake you up as soon as you reach your destination irrespective of the
time at which it reaches the destination.

You can create alerts to change to silent mode when you enter your school or college.

You can use it for other applications too....
After your travel you can view a summary of your travel along with the timestamps for each location.

Just try this application by downloading it for free from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

This application was released on August 27th and it is being used by lots of people around the world.

MobyQube has started developing its next version of TravelMate which includes location sharing with your friends.
So that you can view the location of your friends on your mobile. And you can set alerts based on your friends locations.

for eg:- When you go to your tution center , you can receive alerts stating that your friend has reached the tution center before he has reached there.

  7. Mac OS X Tiger on Intel Machines

Mac OS X is best know for its UI and simple to use Operating System.

The fact that Mac OS X runs only on PPC(Power PC) made the Mac OS X very less popular.

Now Apple Inc. has ported its OS X operating system also to the Intel Architecture.

The Mac OS X for x86(intel) architecture works only in intel machines sold by Apple Inc.

There are also lost of patched OS X 86 which works on any intel machine. All you got to do is download and install the OS X 86 on your machine and then apply the patches later.

Applying patches manually will work only for the experts.

There are lots of patched Mac distributions which has patches embedded into the installation binary itself. So that during your installation the appropriate patches can be selected based on your hardware components.

Jas OS X is a distribution that provides this patches by default.

    http://www.osx86project.org/

this is the link for the open source project which deals with patching the intel Mac for all hardware vendors.

    It even works on AMD.

Ppl who are interested in trying Mac OS X..... have great fun.....

can ask here if you have any doubts in it.

  9. Sending Fake SMS

There is a loop hole in Nokia mobile phone using which you can send fake SMS messages. i.e you can send a SMS to your friend by changing the from address to some random e-mail address.

Nokia has a feature called SMS e-mail

This feature is used to send e-mail by SMS. You network operator will have a SMS e-mail server.

You are supposed to send a SMS to the SMS mail server with the To address, subject and e-mail body as a partof the SMS text body by following the conventions provideded by your Network operator.

You SMS server will read the To address, Subject and the Body of e-mail from the SMS message and forwards the mail to the corresponding e-mail address.

If im confusing you, better take a look at this example

Compose a SMS with the following text

"to:xyz@gmail.com sub:hello body: hi test msg" excluding the double quotes

send the SMS to 9915 which is the SMS server for Airtel network, India.

Airtel will forward the SMS to the corresponding mail address xyz@gmail.com

Some Nokia phones have a seperate feature for this e-mail. So we can use this feature to send Fake messages

    Fake Message steps:

    step 1:

Compose a SMS msg with the text you want to send

    Step 2:

Go to sending Options-> Send to E-mail

    Step 3:

in the text box that appears key in an e-mail address which has to be a fake from address in your message.

    Step 4:

Subject text box appears. Leave it blank or type in something you want

    Step 5:

    E-mai Server text box

This is the place where spoofing happens.

Instead of typing your e-mail server number 9915

Type in the mobile number of your friend/enemy you want to spoof

    Then send the message

Kudoos !!!! You are done !!!! You ve sent a fake SMS message

Your friend/enemy will receive the message.

But the Sender number will be replaced with the e-mail address you gave.

Your number will not be displayed in the sender part.

I tried this trick in Nokia 6060 and Nokia 6610.

In other phones also the steps must be the same but the menu layout might change.

Those who wanted to know how to do this in some other specific phones i can help you

I ve discovered lots of Mobile phone tricks like this which i ll share with you all in the near future

  10. Yeah its actually not only alerts. You can view a complete log of your travel route in your phone along with its Timestamps. So after your travel you can view summary of your travel journey aong with time at which it reached each place along with its route. There are lots more similar applications like this. You can view the location of your friends also for free. You can get alerts to your phone when your kid reaches back home from school. We can think of lots more applications like this using Location based Alerts.

  11. BREW platform

BREW stands for Binary RunTime Environment for Wireless.

It is a mobile development platform like J2ME and .NET CF(Compact Framework) which is implemented in very few handfull of phones.

BREW is mostly found in all CDMA phones.

It is very powerfull compare to J2ME becase java does not allow much of low-level access to the device.

In BREW it is possible to nuke al areas of the phone to program and exploit the capablities of the phone.

In India Reliance is a CDMA mobile networks and in all their phones they provide an application called R World.

This R World application is developed full and full in BREW development platform.

There is actually no specific reason why BREW is implemented in CDMA phones but it is coincidental.

I would be happy to hear that my last statement is wrong.

There are very few developers with expertise with development in this BREW mobile application development.

So people who can develop BREW application to embed into the CDMA phones will be valued so much.

  12. Gtalk on Mobile

Gtalk has become the most common Instant Messaging Client on earth no though its so simple yet powerful.

Gtalk IM solution is hosted onto a Jabber Server. So there are already lots of Jabber clients for mobile to connect to the IM Server.

But still now there are lots of Mobile jabber Clients specific for a Gtalk IM.

You can download a copy of a Mobile GTalk from this location

    http://www.hostj2me.com/wmluser/qube/

You can use this URL even in your mobile phone to download the application using your WAP browser.

So hereafter, you can always stay connected with your friends on Gtalk from your mobile with GPRS.

  13. I hope Nokia is the dominating brand in India.I am a freelance mobile application developer. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Any mobile java developer would appreciate Sony ericsson for its best developer support with its very detailed developer documentation.Nokia sucks the most in developer support and the Nokia java implementation is the most stupid j2me implementation ever possible. They have blocked lots of APIs without any reason at all.hats off to Sony Ericsson
