  1. Well, sheepdog, fortunately the 'not working' problem is not such a problem.I'm a teacher and it is summer holiday now.Rotten thing about your insurance, though. A good thing that here in England the NHS covers all those things without us having to pay a penny towards it.Tikiprincess, thanks for your contribution. In my case it is indeed also a "heavily dilated septum", so that is what they are going to concentrate on.Feels a bit scary the way you explain things. But thanks for sharing all this with me anyway. Where roundhouse kicks to the face are concerned it should be pretty OK, as it is not full contact I do, although accidents do tend to happen.Thank you both for your input.
  2. I was wondering if anyone could help me:For a while now I have been looking for the sheet music of Josef Hellmeberger's "Ball Szenen".Preferably I would like a piano arrangemant, but anything else would help, I could rewrite it for piano myself. If anyone is able to help, please get in touch via PM.Thanks in advance.
  3. Has anyone here got any experience with nose operations?I am going into hospital on Sunday to have an operation.I broke my nose a few years ago, with the consequence that I have trouble breathing. When I had my pre-assessment the doctor said they were not going to touch the bone, but they were going to make an (or some) incisio(s) inside the nose since the main deformation occurs there. In the mean time they will also remove a polyp from my nose.According to the leaflets I was given regarding aftercare, you have to be very careful for a long time.Apparently you have to take two weeks of work and you are to avoid any (even light) physical activity.I was told I cannot do karate (expected that) for four to six weeks (think that's a bit much), but they also advise against walking, having meetings in a badly ventilated room etc.It seems the main reason is there could be extensive bleeding for quite some time after the operation.Has anyone got any experience with this, does anyone know if it is very painful afterwards?Any advice would be welcome.
  4. It is very difficult indeed. Many years ago, I managed to give up for a fortnight. But, guess what happened?Everyone around me insisted at the end of that fortnight:"Whatever you do, before you do it, please go to a shop or a pub first, get yourself a packet of cigarettes and light one, because YOU ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO LIVE WITH!!!!!!!".And honestly, I was moody, argued over nothing, bit peoples' heads off as soon as they said something, that was hell really. Then, six years ago, I decided to give it another go using nicotine patches.Ironically, I quit and the same night I am in an ambulance having a heart attack.I then stuck it out for a whole five months, but due to stress and worries and too much work pressure, I started again (And, believe me, that is NOT a cheap excuse). Then, a few years later, I used nicotine lozenges, and managed to quit for another few months.Due to the same reason, too much work etc., I started again.Believe me, it is VERY difficult.i have evn known someone who had been clean for 10 years, and never in all those years lost the urge to smoke for a single day.One day I will definitely try again.
  5. Shenzetrix, would you mind adding to your post what sport/kind of style you are into?Remember, all sports have a different belt system, also the different styles within a sport do.Eg. Shotokan Karate belts will be different to Kempo Karate.
  6. I managed to get it sorted now.Up and running and working fine.Thanks.
  7. Hi,there is a possibility that my sound card (MAudio Delta Audiophile 2496) might be suffering from an IRQ sharing conflict.I have been told that this can be found in the Device Manager of the Control Panel.Nobody has told me how to do this however. Can anyone let me know how I can find out if there is a conflict?I use Win XP SP2.Thanks in advance.
  8. I am really glad things are like this.Thank you ever so much again, everyone.
  9. Thanks to everyone for their excellent advice. Everything works good as gold now. I can now nicely surf to http://www.vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk/ and send and receive email. the reason why it would not work was most pobably the propagation (or lack thereof). Thanks again, Mr. Dee.
  10. I have pointed the domain at the Xisto servers, but when trying to park the domain I get this:"Error from park wrapper: Using nameservers with the following IPs: 64.69.35.177,64.69.35.170 Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ip.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver."Yet the IP adresses that are mentioned are the correct ones, ie. ns1.trap17.com and ns2.trap17.com.Why is it not accepting those?
  11. Hi folks,my Xisto subdomain is vlaanderen-flanders.trap17.com.I have now bought the domain name vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk, how can I make that name point to my Xisto subdomain?I tried using "Addon domain", but the login is really confusing: In the first box it asks you for your domain, that's simple enough, however, in the second one, it asks you for Username/Subdomain, a blank box followed by.vlaanderen-flanders.trap 17.com. I don't know what to fill in in that box, it doesn't work when I dill in my username to access the control panel, nor does it work when I enter the 1st part of my subdomain (the bit before .trap17.com).However, I have set up domain forwarding with the company who sold me the domain, pointing my domain at my Xisto subdomain webspace, will that do any good?I really hope someone can help me out here. Thanks in advance,Mr. Dee.
  12. When trying to make a web page with a GIF image on it which runs a coloured bar along the top and a coloured curve along the side, I come across the weird thing that, when I put the image on a web site, it does not take in the whole top and does not run from top to bottom completely. The image is made in Adobe Photoshop at a resolution of 1024X768 pixela and looks correct , ie. the horizontal bit runs completely from left to righ and the vertical bit completely from topright to bottom right, yet when put in to the web page, it shows with big margins left and right and top and bottom. This is the source code, and I will upload the image as well.Has anyone got any suggestions to get it right? Thanks in ad vance,Mr. Dee. <html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="tr"><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1254"><title></title><STYLE type=text/css>A:link { COLOR: darkblue; TEXT-DECORATION: none}A:visited { COLOR: blue; TEXT-DECORATION: none}A:hover { COLOR: red; TEXT-DECORATION: underline}INPUT.radio { BACKGROUND: #c4d1e6; COLOR: #000000}</STYLE></head><body topmargin="0" leftmargin="0" style="background-image: url('index3.gif'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: scroll; background-position: left top"> </body></html> Notice from BuffaloHELP: Please use the proper bbcode and no reason to sign off with every post--we all can see who made the post.
  13. First of all I would like to thank Xisto for their excellent and reliable free hosting.Second thing is, I seem to have a small problem accessing my webmail.Whenever I go to my Webmail (Whether it is with squirrel or the other one, whose name escapes me at the moment), I always get told my Inbox is empty, even though I know there has to be mail there, especially when I sent a test message. In my email client (Barca) sending and receiving could not work better. It is a shame this happens, as webmail is a great function to check your email when away from home.I also tried to raise the matter with the support team through cpanel, but that tells me this function is not set up yet, it then refers to the FAQ, but I have looked all over cpanel and cannot find the FAQ anywhere.Could anyone here help me out please?Once again, apart from this little hiccup I am extremely satisfied with the hosting.Thanks,Mr. Dee.
  14. Thank you for the advice. You can rest assured I am not going to leave it at that.I also want to save others from things like that happening to them.
  15. Looking for a place where I could send an SMS from the web I came across a site called http://www.boltblue.com/. This London based company (?) offer ringtones, SMS communications to and from the UK, Ireland, Australia, USA and Canada, blogs, dating and more of that sort of stuff. In case you thought "Sounds interesting", forget it and avoid this company like the plague as it is a real scam. Yesterday I wanted to send an SMS and a box opened which was going to let me do that. It said "Send your message here", and underneath the box it said: "Boltblue Club is a weekly subscription service with an introductory first download at no extra cost or SMS allowance when you join for ?4.50 per week until you send STOP to 85233. ". I decided to fill in the text, entered the recipient's number and my mobile phone number and clicked "Send". All of a sudden SMSes started to arrive on my mobile phone that I had sent a text, a charge was taken for that (although it said this SMS was free) and all of a sudden another ? 4.95 was taken from my credit balance (I use Pay as you go) for a weekly membership. In other words, they just stole some of my credit of my phone, as I had never given my consent for them to take anything, also the text underneath the message box did not mention that sending a message automatically made you join for membership, and nowhere on the page did I see a sentence like "I agree to the terms and conditions" or something similar. I would go so far as to call this common theft. I then emailed the company immediately but did not get any reply yet (not that I am expecting one). I will now get in touch with Trading Standards, and if anyone has any idea what other paths I can take to help stopping this scam, please post a reply. Fact of the matter is: BEWARE OF BOLTBLUE!!!!! The amount of ? 4.95 might not be much, but I am talking about the principle of them just taking money off your credit, meaning they have access to your mobile phone and its credit at any time. If anyone can, please help me stop this scam. Mr. Dee.
  16. Hi,I take Fluvastatin (1 a day) and that seems to keep my cholesterol at bay quite well.(I was put on all sorts of medication after a heart attack 6 years ago). However, there is good and bad cholesterol, check with your doctor regularly what you have especially and also watch your food if the bad cholesterol has the upper hand.Do avoid eggs as much as you can (The white is OK, but the yolks are full of cholesterol).Another good one is eating a lot of garlic (I know, it stinks, and I can't stand the smell myself, but it is nevertheless lovely in many foods and I love eating it).Another benefit of garlic is that it keeps your blood pressure low.Another thing against cholesterol: you use up the bad cholesterol in your body with 1 hour of intense physical activity, so, if you could do some sports for one hour at a time regularly, you would achieve a lot for your own well being.Take all this advice on board and have yourself checked over regularly and you should be able to lead a normal life. Also try to watch your weight. If you need further advice, please post back here.Best of luck,Mr. Dee.
  17. For some excellent advice, please read my earlier post here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/49785-go-gi/
  18. For losing weight comfortably, see my post "Going GI".Interesting literature I would say.

    Go Gi.

Hello everyone,For years I have had a problem with my weight, one reason being I am diabetic and dependent on insulin (which can easily make you put on weight).I had tried virtually fat free diets, eating small portions and a combination of those, however, I could not manage to get one gram off, although I do heavy karate training at least twice a week. At the end of last month I went to the dietitian (not expecting much joy) and I was told to look at the GI (glycaemic index) of foods. This means, in plain English, that the GI tables look at the impact certain carbohydrates have on your blood sugar levels.(E.g. white rice is to be avoided (high GI), while Basmati rice and egg noodles (low GI) are both fine), potatoes are to be avoided, but not pasta etc.Believe it or not, when I went to the dietitian earlier today, in less than a month I had lost 8 kg (1 st 2 lb), while my use of insulin has decreased by about 30%.The dietitian even began to speak of me being weaned off insulin altogether in the near future. For the ones about you who think "How can we achieve this by ourselves without having to consult a doctor or dietitian?" help is at hand: get the book "The GI Counter" by Dr. Mabel Blades (with foreword by Antony Worrall Thompson) Editions Kyle Cathie Limited, London, ISBN 978 1 85626 719 9.I picked a copy up in "The Works" for only ? 0.99, although the full price is only ? 3.99, so it will not break the bank either.I thought I was at a point where i thought dieting was hopeless for me and I was beyond help, but obviously this was not the case.I must confess that I do feel a lot better than I did about 20 days ago and I also do not have to suffer any hunger, let alone starvation (although I was addicted to fatty, greasy foods and lots of it).On the low GI list are loads of meat, fruits, vegetables, fish and about anything people generally like, so no one should feel this is a diet they cannot handle.I hope this advice will be useful to many of you.The best of luck,Mr. Dee.
  20. Hi, did you know that there are some excellent martial arts learning materials to be found on Youtube (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/)? If you want to se and/or learn certain Katas, just type in the name (e.g. Heian Yondan) and a whole list will come up. I would recommend the ones executed by Luca Valdesi (Sicilian Sensei and Italian and European champion Shotokan Karate). Luca Valdesi shows the full Kata, the same slowly, he also breaks the Kata down and finally shows the Bunkai (Applications) of the movements. But also other Katas and other styles than Shotokan can be seen. For example, if you type in "Nunchaku" or "Sai" or the likes, you will come across films with whole demonstrations about the use of those weapons, often including whole Katas from A to Z. So, anyone looking for learning materials, go and have a look and type in what you are looking for. The search facility is brilliant too, some simple words will get you whole relevant lists. And, if anyone knows of other places like this, or finds similar resources on Youtube, please post them here. Regards, Mr. Dee.
  21. A great post.Fear is often a factor that can have the most astonishing effects (positive or negative), i.e. it can nail someone to the floor, unable to respond at all, or it could indeed turn someone into a tiger. Also remember, being a proficient martial artist is not always a guarantee of coming out of a mugging unscathed. The mugger(s) could know more than you, and I have seen black belts being hit to the ground by a single street fighter. Also, never try to take on the world alone, e.g. my army tarining I had years ago would come in very handy in street situations like that, but there might be occasions where I would find it safer and wiser to run.
  22. I do Shotokan Karate.Unforunately, I do not have a lot of room at home (not even in the garden). However, outside the dojo, I regularly practice my Katas, do some strength and speed exercises (with punch and kick shields), regularly kick and punch the punch bag and do some stretching as well. I really wish I could have some dojo of my own, though.
  23. I am currently a 2nd Kyu in Shotokan Karate. (This is a brown belt with a white stripe).Around September I will do my grading exam for 1st Kyu, which is brown with a red stripe, and then the very tough work starts of preparing for my 1st Dan black belt. From white belt onwards we used to grade every 3 months, but ever since 3rd Kyu (brown belt) this time has doubled (much more and much more difficult stuff to learn). After getting my 1st Kyu it will take at least a year before I can grade for my black belt.
