Edit: Sorry about the typo in the topic if a moderator could please fix that.Did you know that it is not the Cuban government who does not let American citizens travel to Cuba?Well, now you do. It is the United States treasury department who does not allow American citizens travel freely to Cuba without restrictions. In order for a CUBAN-AMERICAN (not just any citizen) to travel to Cuba you have to request a permit from the Treasury with a valid reason to travel and only every 2 years(family emergency etc.) OR, if you rather go the illegal way, through another country, this way the U.S. Government has less chance of knowing that you traveled to Cuba thinking that you didn't leave that middle country (Cuba does not stamp your passport, heck, they appreciate our tourism). So the U.S. must have its "reason" for this, but I truly see no logic behind this. I can not travel to my country, get in touch with my roots, visit my family, or anything of the sort freely without being worried that I might get caught and have to pay up to 4K in fines. So I can travel to Iran, North Korea, and China, but I can't travel to Cuba. I hate having to ask for permission to go, unfortunately this summer I'm going, and I had to ask for a permit. Where are my human rights?

My favorite car and I know has to be my first car (I'm only just now turning 16) is the Volkswagen Rabbit TDI, or just the two door TDI. I think that all VW models are really appealing, including the Jetta and Passat. I wouldn't complain on having a Phaeton, but that's asking for too much. I also like the Spanish brother of VW, Seat, and I like the Ibiza from Seat. They're very high quality cars.

Stalin was worse than Hitler but nobody says anything because the Jewish population didn't have the spotlight in the U.S.S.R. I think it would be Wal-Mart. They're in every corner of the United States, driving small business out of business in every itty bitty town. Not to mention how they've expanded into Europe and Asia. Their underpaid workers are the ones to complain.

lol well hello there, I reside in the U.S. and I well know how mediocre our public transportation is. Starting with our railroads, the heart of a country, they're practically in ruins. Don't let me get started on buses here in South Florida. Yet who's fault is that? The people including lobbyists of the General Motors and others who wanted monopoly of American transportation. Railroads were the primary system of transcontinental transport, but then motor companies pushed the "open road" on Americans and destroyed one of the most important industries: railroads. For example, the Florida East Coast railroad, owned by Henry Flagler, a Rockefeller associate, had one of the most fascinating railroad systems here in Florida (back then) Flagler not only brought railroads, but brought the hotel industry and other things. He practically built South Florida, with a line that reached all the way to Key West (very important city at the time, only deep water port closest to sugar-rich Cuba). After a hurricane, lines were replaced with roads, and the FEC eventually just became a cargo line. Sad isn't it? And its not just the motor companies' fault. Here in South Florida we have a tri-county passenger rail system that operates a very convenient schedule. I love it! Its probably a system envied by many areas in the SE. BUT, ask around here, "Ma'am/sir, do you ride Tri-Rail to work/school/anywhere?"....and most of the time...you'll get the response "what's that?" So who's fault really is it? I look around our roads and see H2's...Suburbans...Excrusions...F350's... And I ask... Do you really need to drive that piece of trash around the city? Do you really need 2 miles per gallon? I guess those are the baby boomers...wasting thousands on gas and saving: NONE. Are we not money concious or just plain stupid?

My point exactly. Its a combination of both I'm guessing; government influence and American culture. By the way...VW Phaeton is a beast of a car. Especially with a diesel engine. I've been to the factory where they make them in Germany. Ofcourse, yet it should be in each individual's head that it is not smart to buy these SUV's in the long run. Although in Europe they don't have this issue because there's a century long conciouceness for fuel efficency in part of the individual citizens and government. And like I commented above, it depends greatly on the individual. More people need to realize what you say, and although the chicks love them, they're killing us.

I've been a proud T-Mobile customer for a good 6-7 years; ever since it was called Voicestream. I've had some problems here and there but they've always delivered. In my opinion T-Mobile is the most affordable wireless service out there. It has very attractive plans at least 10 dollars less than the competition.

Heh I'm 15 too. I'm glad to find another person my age that's actually concious about these issues. I believe the Corolla and Camry must get at the most 30 miles per gallon, but the Prius (Hybrid) does get those 60 miles per gallon. And I know that the hybrid car batteries are a set back. Bio-diesel and diesel are the way to go! Now that sulfur levels have been adjusted here in the U.S. there are great things to come. My brother owns a VW Jetta TDI and he gets around 45 miles per gallon. Pretty sweet. VW makes exceptional cars, especially a conventional SUV with a diesel engine. I also agree that people in the city need to buy smaller cars. There's no need to have a vehicle doing 2 miles per gallon in the city. And I also realize that fleet cars such as ambulances and such need big engines, but do most regular citizens? Even fleet cars, like for example, mail cars, should have efficient engines with maybe ethanol or something of the sort.

Well I learned how to play trumpet in 6th grade and ever since 2nd semester that year I became 1st chair.(advanced band full of 7th and 8th graders) After playing concert band for that much my teacher got me into the school's marching band. There I became section leader. The next two years I was 1st chair concert band and section leader in marching band. We performed locally and went to local parades and competitions; after all, it was only middle school. I also filled in for a baritone player once or twice and it wasn't all that bad, the mouthpieces and playing of the notes are very similar. I had purchased my own trumpet and everything but when I got into high school I was not only overwhelmed with school work but band was too strict and required over 4 hours of after-school practice. Maybe I'll pick it back up in college or something.

After the rises of gas prices over the last couple of years I've realized that very few people in the United States have made an effort to purchase smaller, and more fuel efficent cars. Maybe its not part of American culture? Since its always been pushed by motor companies to purchase the big hot rods, or the huge engine SUV's and trucks. I not only find these cars unattractive, but find more fuel efficent cars very appealing to me and my pocket. I guess it is also the market's fault. In Europe and wherever else gas is expensive and people are money concious, you find cars that do 60 miles per gallon and such. You can even find the same cars we have in the U.S. but with efficient diesel fuel engines. Just last year, some motor companies in the U.S. have started to advertise that they will be bringing in those diesel engines. Oh well. I know my first car has to be a VW Rabbit TDI. It will be small, but it'll crush your excrusion's gas mileage.

lol! Haha. I'm going to use that on my teachers! I think the reason my teachers are so hypocritical is because they don't really remember their high school years but since they're fresh out of college (most of my teachers are really young) they remember their tedious college years, and bring that to us. I hate my summer assignment. Its the only reason I don't want summer to start.

I have a T-Mobile Sidekick 3. It has everything I need on the go. I love it.

Carriers with 3G in the U.S. such as Cingular and Sprint provide on demand tv channels such as HBO. I believe these are costly services though.

The Future Of Mobile Phones It seems to be getting better, and better...
tonydatiger replied to Laos's topic in Mobile Phones
I believe that cell phones pretty much do everything someone needs except maybe turn into an electric shaver or toilet. Conisdering that cell phones are currently available with almost everything you need at home--on the go, like for example, high speed internet and all its goodies. The future of cell phones is also here already (for us western folk at least, it might not be that much innovation for others considering how behind we are in regards to mobile technology), just go to Japan for a day and you'll see it. =] -
Its pretty amazing. I've been posting about it here in a couple topics. I'm telling you people, if the Hiptop comes to your country, get it! Once you go Hiptop you never go back. Its now available in Australia and its been available in such countries as Canada, UK, Germany, and many others.

That's amazing. Some pictures would be nice. I wish I can some day visit that part of Venezuela, together with La Gran Sabana.
