What you want is AutoCad or something similar it is for designing things on a graph(mostly known for use by engineers of any and everything). You can design things in 2d at all levels on x,y,z and AutoDesk 3d studio Max will allow you to bring them into 3d by directly importing the 2d files into max and then you model them up into 3d according to the design. Modeling is a developed skill that takes lots of training and AutoDesk programs are tens of thousands of dollars. Like mentioned by kira423 maya is good too but also expensive. Blender is a free and open source 3d editor you could use to make your 3d models, also Google SketchUp also converts your designs from 2d to 3d. I haven't used SketchUp yet but I heard it's pretty amazing as it does both things the AutoCad and Max can do Get Blender here blender.org Get SketchUp here SketchUp I would try it out before you commit to anything money wise. Automatic conversion like sonesay said would require alot of logic and that is what programmers have to study math and nothing but math but from what I hear SketchUp is just that. So if since these kinds of things are getting to the public it probably won't be long before some source hits the streets.

I would definitely back up all the files, then begin your adventure. I just installed Windows on a old 90's Western Digital 40gig and then it stopped booting because, I had the jumpers set to slave, the firmware in the hard drive was sending wrong info to bios because of my mistake. Even though I had the jumpers set to slave it sill allowed me to install windows, it just had trouble booting and it did boot up after installation was completed;like 8 or 9 times. Then bios starting reading the hard drive as a cd-rom and quit booting tried booting it like 15 times still nothing. I thought maybe the drive was shot because of clunking sounds it made when I would shut it down. But it was just the jumpers and whats strange is that it seems like the firmware was giving conditionals or something. As for yours installing windows but not showing up anywhere as a third partition maybe it has something to do with the File System you are using. Are the other two partitions showing up? maybe it never finished creating the third partition or maybe you need to set your jumpers to slave.

yea search google and also try maybe c++ for dummmies or any other kind of ebook you can get your mouse to click on. I myself never got past hello world on any c++ tutorial. I would also like to suggest cprogramming.com bloodshed.net bloodshed has a compiler and sample source code files.

I think that if the focus of the game would be around the invasion of earth itself and built on things that were more primitive in nature to that of the common stroyline in most games when everything is futuristic, anyway I think you would want to make a storyboard with drawings and in depth explanations of what kind of game you want it to be would be a good start at this. Of course I am not game developer myself but i can do level design with gtk radiant,my textures with photoshop are a little skethy but nothing that a little tutorial won't fix. I know you would want a game engine to build off of. The quake lll source code has been released under GNU and there is blender for modeling, now you just need skilled people and a good story. What I say is more primitive to that of most scifi could give a new flavor genre.

Yeah BTX is an expensive form factor to build off of. I actually think I read some where that it is dead as you said, and form factors from companys like dell,hp,etc are called Proprietary(hope i spelled that right) they are custom built from the manufacturs leaving with limited upgrading capabilities. For example i have a really nice sony vaio that I got from my buddy he left it in his basement for two years and i ignored the fact that it had been in such conditions. So I just started it up and all the dust and possibly moisture from being in a basement left it useless when i heard a loud pop and display just went away and the system would not post after that. I started looking for a board to replace it with beacause i really like the case but had no luck because the motherboard is a proprietary form factor and uncompatiable with common form factors. Leaving me to have to order a replacement and get this that exact model was the only one to have the form factor that they designed.

I was going to get a razer mouse but I got the logitech G5 instead because of the ability to change the mouse speed on the fly. I hear good things about the razers although I don't think getting a gaming mouse made me any better at counter-strike. Of course I dropped the level of my dedication to First Person Shooters after the mouse arrived and fell in love with 3d modeling and wished I would have spent 60 bucks on a good productivity mouse with a high dpi.

I am assuming you are talking about current electronic technology and i think that man will never be a slave to technology unless a senario similar to that of the movie The Matrix happens. In another senario seperate from that of most sci fi movies and predictions from using knowledge current technology and research. There are many possibilites that could alter what man could be a slave of and it also pertains to the society you live in and the life you live. Man could be a slave of many things, but electronic technology could be wiped out from fire. If you were to do an expierment like a blowig your computer up and iginiting it with fire only metallic materials that withstood the heat of your fire would remain. The printed circuit board would be gone and the computer rendered useless,on a larger scale many computer sysems and electronics could be destroyed by fire and technology could be lost, but of course only in a massive holocaust of electronics could this happen. Electricity production is another thing cut the power means bye bye to electronics,of course solar power could open a whole new realm for electronics. For now thought the mass of electricity production is left up to people to produce. Now technology in a lighter sense is reasearched and devloped by people and people themselves dedicate their lives to technology. Making it possibilty that humans could be a slave to technology but also a slave to many other things but the term technology at one point defined everything in the world that is man made. Making humans....yea could be a slave to technology.

Imjaison you make a very good point, also PhyberOptycs you make a good point. I would have to say that the word good is defined as the word means good! good graphics, good gameplay, good sound etc. Some older games did have a certain way of telling a story...usually in text but it was noticable that gameplay was focused and seemed to have more features. At times givin that you had a decent machine with a few hundred mhz and some good color capabilites and sound capabilities. You could have played some of the greats. Some games of today have not touched on the features such a racing game i remember playing on windows 98 but it was devloped for dos. It had you start out and browse the newpaper for a used car and it randomized the cars and you could get them damaged, dirty ,needing major, minor repairs, or just used. Also the prices for things were real, like a good race tranny could be had about 1200 or used tranny could be had for 300. You could adjust or advance timing while looking at the engine with pulleys spinning and what not. The name of the game has slipped my mind, but like I was saying the game had great features but the physics for the game were not there and thats important in racing games of today. That requires a lot more coding and education like obviously physics. Beacuse if you cannot do the math then it is really tough to recreate things as they are in the real world. As with the devolpment of expanded source codes and game engines it all gets down to what the delopment teams want to do with a game. There were old games that blew and there are new games that blow.

Dominos Delivery Marketing Scam, You Got 30 Minutes
reelkill replied to iibbssee's topic in General Discussion
I think it was made illegal to pressure drivers to deliver a pizza within a certain time frame. Beuase if they give you a free pizza or give you a discount that is a loss to the company. Most people when they work feel bad or disloyal if their conduct causes a loss of profit to the company, thus causing them take extra measures to ensure that these types of things don't happen, of course managers would be even more intense with speed if the stakes were high. but like the slogan says "You Got 30 Minutes" so when they show up earlier than 30 minutes and ask you to pay for the pizza just say wtf I thought I had 30 minutes. lol -
Create You Own Operating System My new Website
reelkill replied to Codemaster Snake's topic in Websites and Web Designing
That sounds really cool man, I have a pc that I built in my bedroom and don't use it much. I like the hard drive in it the way it is though and do not want to partition for anything else, I do however have a 10 gig western digital I could slap in it if that would be enough space. The other specs on my system are as follows BioStar Micro AM2 with amd3400+ 1 gig memory and 128mb video card w/pixel shader 2.0 support its nothing special but is still a popular low end setup.I think that is an awesome idea to develop an o/s I might have to give it a look -
I would buy some artic silver and pull the heatsink off the cpu clean it real good with some rubbing alcohol and then apply the thermal compound put heatsink and fan back on top the cpu and everything should be working fine as long as the fan is still spinning at normal speeds. Another suggestion you could try before you remove the heatsink is if your fan screws into the heatsink then you could try getting a q tip or something to try cleaning in between the fins on the heatsink. Also check your bios for settings adjustment to shut down your system when cpu reaches a certain temperature not all bios have those options though.
