Their deal with PayPal got cancelled - so now they've resorted to stormay - which essentially acts the same way as Paypal. They can make payments through paypal though - that's not a problem. Anybody can send $$ to anybody through paypal. Just that their own account isn't hosted with paypal anymore.

Hi guys, For all the aspiring web-designer and webmasters out there - this deals with one of the most commonly overlooked fact about increasing your page rank. Most of us after putting up a new site, are satisfied with simple submitting our site to multiple search engines using some of the free submission engines. After that it's a long long wait till the crawlers come over to our page and starts indexing them. Even then it doesn't work out that well. And we always keep wondering WHY our sites don't show up on higher ranks on search engines. One of the prime determinant factors for a good page rank is the number of inbound links - i.e. HOW MANY SITES are LINKING to YOU. If the spiders find a whole bunch of sites linking back to you, your page rank shoots up immediately. Now for most part, link exchanges deal with ugly, messy banners and even more ugly looking pages filled with an endless jumble of worthless links. So I went out and searched far and wide, till I found a couple of free services that are small (but growing) and have a nice clean interface. My criteria was that their link-ex page should be simple and clean - if not professionaly layed out. Here I present you with a list of few of them and the results I got within 2 days of putting up my site with them. For now I'm writing about only one site - I'll come back and keep filling up more and more. 1. GotLinks? - http://www.thehoth.co/ From the looks of it, this is a pretty recent site with a very low member count (as I'm writing this). Their stats say: 653 Members 426,409 Links Exchanged - which doesn't say much, but you shouldn't simply look at these figures. The quality of the sites linking back to you matter a WHOLE LOT too. So I decided to experiment with this site and see what results it gets me. The interface is very clean and compact and that's what I like about them. Their site loads very fast and has just the right information you need to know - nothing gaudy or excess. The Setup process was quite simple. First you register for an account with them (of course) - and then you get the ability of adding ONE or MULTIPLE sites to your account there. The next step is really important - you are presented with a whole directory of Links, nicely categorized. You can go through each of them and see which all sites you like/don't like - and which all broad categories you want. Then, you can filter out all the sites/categories you DONT want to be linking to you and hand-pick the nicer ones. These are called your Link Partners. The third step involves generating a linking code, that's done by their servers - you simply take this code and create a PHP file out of it. Keep in mind, this links generator code DOESN'T need to be placed ANYWHERE on your main page. BUT, this PHP file DOES NEED to have a link to it from your index.php/html of your site. But remember, you cannot fool them - once you have created your links page, you have to validate your site through their servers, i.e. their crawler will probably come to your page and see whether you've put up the links partner page on your site. Only after validation, your link gets put up on your partner sites. If you want to see an example, goto my site: https://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=antilost&e=com and CLICK on the LINKS menu-item right on TOP of the page. That'll show you a demo links page - the one I received by signing up with GotLinks. Now I present you with a sample: The number of categories/pages that are presented to you on GotLinks, when you signup initially is around 58 - with a total of over 46,000 links. The links page that shows up on my site, after I handpicked the categories looks like: http://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=antilost&e=com - notice how much I've cut down on, and picked up sites that are MORE related to my site's content/nature. See these two and notice how easily/nicely you can refine the list of your link partners. Results Similar to what I said in the introductory part of this article, when I'd first started my site, I'd just submitted it to several search engines and sat back, hoping it would show up. Just two days back, vujsa suggested I do some links exchange and I went out and found this site. After creating my account and linking with the link partners, my number of inbound links shot up from ZERO to THREE HUNDRED and SIXTY in just TWO days - and 50 more to go in about a days time. Now AntiLost immediately shows up on Google on a simple Search - - though still not on the first page, but right near the middle of the second page. Earlier this wasn't even listed on the 10th page. That definitely says a LOT. Here's what GotLinks? says about themselves: Most of your should give it a try and see the results for yourself - it comes out in a day or two at the most. If dissatisfied, simply discontinue the service and hop over to another one. Over the next few days I'll bring you more such news about the nicer link-exchange sites, which you can utilize without the fear of having a whole bunch of ugly-stupid sites linking to you... Regards, m^e

Account Doensn't Get Unsuspended
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to marijnnn's topic in General Discussion
Sorry dude - you'll have to wait a little longer this time - coz nothing doing. See, we don't have access to the main servers to fix these issues, and OpaQue has his engineering final exams going on - so he cannot come online anyways - he comes sometimes for 4-5 minutes to check out all sites are running and then goes off. His exams are not getting over before another week I think - so nothing doing earlier than that.. sorry about that.. -
Hi guys, Those who want to avoid the extensive process of setting up a shoutbox on your own web-site (messing around with a whole bunch of PHP Code and MySQL Databases in the process) - can grab one for FREE rightaway from YellBox. I found out about their site a couple of hours back - and it's looks real good. Check out: http://www.yellbox.com/ Here's a list of their features: Have FUN Regards, m^e

GUYSSSSS PROBLEM SOLVED YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Check here: http://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=antilost&e=com It's done it's done it's doneeeeee ... Now it's time to design our parser... Now it's possible to compile using ANY compiler - C++/Java/whatever... I've managed to figure out both the PHP way and also through CGI scripts written in C Regards, m^e
-
Nope.. you wouldn't need load of space if you use the Java chat client.. Unlike php or cgi chat - this one happens in realtime as I pointed out.. You wouldn't be seeing a message in your browser saying .. connecting to so and so server... after every single line you type.. chatting happens absolutely smoothly on this, just like any other IM... If you want to see a demo, try this: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ The actual download is ONLY 526KB.. so the client would hardly eat up any space on your drive..

Mirror My MySQL Database To Another Mysql Server
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to sirknight's topic in Programming
See as far as I <-- know, asta databases limit the access to only the asta web-server. But then again, I might be wrong You should ask OpaQue instead - he'll be able to clarify better. What I said was from my own observation, but I might be mistaken and there could be a way to directly access your db from another IP.Regards,m^e -

xMB-MySQL Problem: Unknown Column Error
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Glockmeister1405241492's topic in Software
Your error message clearly states what the problem is - the field named groupname is missing from your MySQL database. Check your hack installation instructions again - usually all these hacks contain a separate script that you've to run prior to installing the hack. This script will connect to your db and create the appropriate tables and fields required for the hack to function properly. If you go ahead and simply install the hack - quite obvious it wouldn't find the desired location to store it's data in... There's no other problem - but this... so cross-check your hack again for that script... or some instructions to insert the fields manually.. Regards, m^e -
VB.NET: How To Find Application Build Version
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to tansqrx's topic in Programming
Hi tansqrx, Here's your solution... First of all your AssemblyInfo.vb contains all information on your Version/Major/Minor Builds etc. If you take a look into that file you'll see: Now .NET provides you with a prebuilt class called FileVersionInfo which fetches this information out of your assembly or ANY given executable file.. Here's a little code-snippet that demonstrates this: Dim myBuildInfo As FileVersionInfo = FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo(Application.ExecutablePath)MsgBox("Product build part number: " & myBuildInfo.ProductBuildPart) The the method named GetVersionInfo of this class fetches the information from an exe file which is specified within the paranthesis () - in this example I've used Application.ExecutablePath - which returns the path of the currently executing program including the filename - i.e. the program in which you're using this code. The MsgBox displays the Build Information by calling the ProductBuildPart method - which extracts the build information from the Version string - of the format a.b.c.d - here the part contained in "c" is your Build Version. Use this same routine to populate your Help box. Reminder: You'll have to upgrade the build number in your AssemblyInfo.vb file too - by default when you start writing a new application, it's set to as 1.0.0.0 - if you don't change this, your product build will always get reported as "0" or whatever you set the last build number too - this doesn't get updated automatically upon subsequent recompiles. This has to be done manually. Don't forget to experiment with the other members of this class - they enable you to extract the Major-Minor Version/Revision info and other stats from the version string too... Hope this helps Regards, m^e P.S. Don't look so far It's right there in your MSDN libraries.. just a simple search for Version Infomation would have got you the results I was in the same shoes as you an year back -
What do you mean by which server - MySQL ? If it's MySQL we're using v4.0.23, and you cannot access the databases that you create on this server directly from another site. I don't think so. The DBs are configured to work with pages that you setup ONLY on Xisto - i.e. your access is restricted to the localhost zone. Still I don't think I understood your query fully - could you elaborate on it a little more?Regards,m^e

Mirror My MySQL Database To Another Mysql Server
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to sirknight's topic in Programming
Hi sirknight, MySQL in itself provides an excellent way of mirroring your databases - but for that you have to set up another server somewhere known as a Replication Server - usually the Master Server and the Replication Server exist on the same network, to enable faster updates. Problem with this is, you Master Server has to be configured to recognize the Slave Replicator (you can specify this in the my.cnf file) and the Slave will also have to be trained to get updates from the master. The process is very simple and can be done in a short few steps. If the setup is done in this format, the Master Server keeps generating some files called Binary Logs, that contain information about incremental changes to your databases. The Slave's run TWO threads - one which keeps fetching these Binary logs down to the Slave, and another thread, which acts upon the logs, figures out what changes have been made and immediately updates its own databases with the changes pulled out from the master. You can periodically keep deleting the binary logs, as they keep on being generated and eat up ur disk space. The thread that fetches the logs, maintains a persistent connection - which means, as soon as the master generates a log, it's pulled out by the slave. The updates can happen anytime later on coz the slave has already got hold of the update information. Even if the link fails in between, the slave can later on work on the logs stored on it's own drive and do the updates properly. The process is extremely efficient and I've got one running on my own LAN for testing purposes. It's works out AWESOME But with free hosting services and even with most paid ones, I don't think they'll be ready to change their my.cnf to point to your replication server - still it's worth a try... Hope this will guide you to the right direction. If you need more information, post again... Regards, m^e -

Brute Forcers - I'm Interested What? Where?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to ninjamunky's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Brute forcers are what their name says - trying to do something by brute force. It's like when you are completely in the dark about a system you're trying to attack - you run this special sort of application that tries to perform logins one after the other based on passwords generated from an accompanying dictionary. While this is a very uncouth way of trying to get into a system - and any kind of instrusion detection system in place will detect such attempts after 4-5 logins and block your IP - it's somewhat successful on less secure systems. In any case - when using such tools, it's best not to do it from a single IP. You'll end up having your IP blacklisted in no time. Usually, the approach taken is through multiple very different IPs - which connect for a few seconds, try a few of the passwords and disconn upon not being successful. Then another connection sparks off and tries it again with a different set of passwords ... and so on.. this process carries on till you've managed to find a valid login. The whole process is based on the assumption that 90% of the internet users base their password (even when repeatedly told NOT TO DO SO) on simple dictionary words to remember easily. That's the biggest mistake you can make. On top of that, the person using a brute force cracker, would usually do some social engineering too prior to attempting the hack. This is done to get a valid login-name out of the target invidividual.. That completes half the job - the second half is done by the brute force app.Brute forcers are way more easier to use on static files - i.e. say to crack the password of a Winzip/RAR archive, MS-Access Passwords - stuff that won't block you out even after several failed attempts. Here the program has the advantage of KNOWING the location where the password is stored in these files and it simply keeps on generating random passwords and then hashes them with the appropriate encryption algorithm and matches this hash with the stored hash in the target programs password db.Hope this will get you started -
Critical Flaw Found In Firefox
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to tansqrx's topic in Security issues & Exploits
This only affects Firefox browsers v1.0.2 and down.. The exploits reported there have been found long long back and this report is just a summarization of all of them and explains what the combined impact of these could be.. nothing to fear for people who updates their Firefox regularly.. -
I think for to build a good chat client, you'd need something like Java - scripting languages are very inefficient as chat engines, as their mode of operation is different. Everytime you type a line of text, the scripts connect to the server and pass it on - there's a noticeable timelag. Java would do much better under these circumstances coz it can maintain a persistent connection to the server and messages would flow in and out absolutely smoothly - without any delays. If you want a base to start off with, download PJIRC (google for it) - it's an opensource IRC CLient built with Java. You can download the source files and take a look into the innards of the engine. That should give you enough base to fire off with your own project.... And in case you're serious about it - and want to release it as opensource, you can always request project hosting at our new opensource hosting site AntiLost (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/).. You might just find a lot of people diving in to share your work - after all that's how opensource works

Question On The Web Host
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to warriors1405241493's topic in Web Hosting Support
Not a big problem if you delete your mail folder. Just all your stored mails will be gone forever. The process is irreversible. When you log back into cPanel and use the webmail option again, your mail folder will be recreated on it's own with a fresh set of folder information - but same directory named "mail". If you delete the link named "www" - even that can be recreated using the symbolic link definer in *nix named link. However I'm not sure about the public_html and public_ftp folders - although logically it wouldn't be a problem. Apache is configured to point to the public_html folder in everyone's home directory. If apache can't find that folder - it simply won't be able to display the page. It just points to that folder by default, and is not LINKED anyhow to it. So even after deletion, if you recreate it manually yourself, I guess it should work. Coz, upon next http request, it'll find that folder in place again. -

Are you referring to my signature that shows all my system specs & stats ? If you want that simply goto http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and signup for their signature system. It's free and it creates these stats on the fly. They have a client which u have to install - this client keeps updating their server with your system specs data and BW usage - and that gets transformed into a JPEG/PNG file which you can embed in your forum signature... If you're NOT talking about my signature and want to display some sort of stats in your signature, refer to the tutorials on generating dynamic signature, posted by signatureimage. Just search this board for his posts and you'll get to it. Regards, m^e -
