Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out.

My major interest is just general computer use. I doing some gaming and mainly misc. internet use. I have a somewhat higher-end computer and a 4 meg. cable connection. I'm interested in Web design, but with my current skill set, I couldn't keep up with the best at it. I saw your suggestion about movie editing. How could someone do that for money on the internet. I looked into the normal stuff, such as paid surveys and paid emails. And sorry about being so vague, I wasn't sure what kind of info would be needed.

I am a student at ITT, and I was wondering what kind of stuff I could do online for a little extra money. I understand things like ebay would probably be the most profitable, but what else would there be to do? Thanks in advanced.

Hey, I was wondering if there was a way to turn a USB jumpdrive into a mp3 player. And no I don't mean to put songs on it and hooking it up to a computer. I mean is there any hardware I can get to turn it into an mp3 player.

If this technology ever becomes a reality in the future, it would be quite beneficial. If we haven't completely obliterated our planets' resources by then, we could harvest asteroids or something. That brings up another point though too, there are WAY too many bad things we are doing to our planet. We're killing Earth slowing and not many people care. It's sad.......Oh, and to comment on PurPleKuSh, if the big bang theory is correct, we and everything ARE star stuff. Lol, if that's true are we cannibals?

I think I was trying to get at in the future. Sure our most powerful energy and technology right now can't do it. But what if in the future we find a way to directly gather energy from the sun, and i don't mean solar panels. I mean some process where we go basically right up to the sun and begin gathering energy. The future is fun, too bad I ain't gonna live long enough to see all of it.

I'd say get a Zune, there are a real iPod killer. Both 30 gig models cost the same. But if you want a smaller, cheaper one, then maybe the iPod nano?

Yeah, I was going to say I know the ten reasons why computers crash. Windows x 10!! Lol, I couldn't help myself. But yeah, good list there.

That's exactly what I was trying to say amit nigam. If I may add to your little list of current technologies, the US military and some other groups as well, have now developed cloaking technology. Like the kind that you see, or NOT so, in shows like Star Trek. Pretty kool if you think about it.

What Do You Use Your Computer For? it seems I am way behind...

I do a bunch of stuff. Listen to music, play games, movie burning, downloading, web browsing, and IMing. Probably a few more I forgot, but whatever.... -
Yeah, my whole point isn't if it were possible right now, but maybe sometime in the future. But, I guess no one can really answer that until the future gets here.

If I may, the best and most effective way to keep from getting viruses is children? Abstinence!!! Don't use internet if your so afraid of what viruses and and adware you will get. But I suppose that's just not an option. So, in my opinion, Avast, Ad-Aware, and I like using ZoneAlarm.

All I guess I can say is that it takes a Dual-Core processor from Intel to finally beat AMD? lol

I thought of this a long time back and I thought I'd bring it to some attention. My theory is on of atoms, the way we understand them as of now. Now, so far we think that atoms consist of basically protons, neutrons and electrons. So, my idea is that of splitting them up and containing them. Nuclear power planets use a process known as nuclear fission I believe, which is the splitting of an atom to create energy. Base units that you know from the periodic table are what we as humans have found so far in our known space. What I was thinking is possible is to take anything you want, say water, and split up the atoms into individual pieces. (Electrons, protons and neutrons) Then you could take the pieces that you have and use nuclear fusion to put them back together. Let me give an example to help explain it. Hydrogen, the first unit on the periodic table, has one proton and one electron. What if you split the atom in to the proton and electron by themselves and set them in some kind of container. Then, say you wanted to make some Helium. I believe Helium has two protons and two electrons. So, in theory you could take two Hydrogen atoms, and turn them into one atom of Helium. I believe that if this process is at all possible in any way shape or form, everything would be solved on the planet. World hunger would cease because we could just manufacture the food we wanted. You wouldn't even really have to waste land growing it anymore. Anything could be made from anything. The army could make tanks from water, or pee, or whatever they had. What do you guys think about this idea.

Not that I don't want to get to far off topic, but if aliens DO exist and we CAN go faster then light, then what stops people from developing psychic abilities like telekinesis or pyrokinesis. Literally anything is possible. If you cant think of it, then it is entirely possible.
-
Everyone starts off by thinking that aliens are going to meet us first. Well, did anyone think of that maybe we are going to be the first ones in space. There might be aliens on some distant planet in the so-called Neanderthal ages, while we are starting to really take off into space. Humans could one day become the dominion of evil, like the Borg or something. You can never really know.

definitely with everyone else, firefox is the way to go. it's never let me down and you get get plugins for it really easily.

I'm not sure about getting AMD for Mac, but AMD's are a custom build friendly company. I think Dell is signing some agreements with AMD and will be using AMD processors in their machines soon. And if your looking for laptops/desktops with AMD processors, just go to any gaming computer company and look. I got my laptop from ABS and I love it. Powerful enough to keep up with the newer games and stuff coming out, and rendering and stuff goes quite quickly.

I used to use AVG Free Edition, but it's going to be discontinued with updates soon so I switched to Avast. That combined with Ad-Aware and I've had no problems. My parents used to use Norton until it started messing up. They wanted me to look at it, and they ended up having gigs upon gigs of viruses in the vault. I told them to start using Firefox and Avast and they've had no more problems.

I'd actually have to go the latter route and say Star Wars: Galaxies. But only the first year of it. After a year or so, they tried to revamp the whole system and it got really bad. I think the game is going to go under in the near future.

I don't agree that AMD is not the gaming leader. I have played games like FEAR and Oblivion on both a Intel and AMD system, they both had the same vid cards, memory, and everything. The AMD system ran everything a bit smoother and at an average of 5 - 9 frames per second higher. Both of the processor were equal as long as comparing brands goes.I agree that Intel is better for video editing, but I would pick AMD over Intel for gaming any day.
-
In my opinion, I'd stay with AMD. But you gotta look at both sides I suppose. Intel is dominating with their dual-core and quad-core setups. But if you look at AMD they are always a little behind, but then they come out with some killer CPU's that really put the smack-down on Intel. Also, AMD is getting dual-core, quad-core and they are already in deep research on octo-core (which is eight). I'm a AMD man so I'm prolly not the best person to talk to about Intel's side. AMD is king of 64-bit CPU's. So, I hope I helped you a little bit.

Just reading about this is making a song phrase go through my head. "Transformers!!! Robots in disguise..." Lol.
