  1. Tanks are easily destroyed with Zerg Queens and spawing broodlings. A couple of scourges to blow the observers up and then lurkers are great for an early attack on terrans and Protoss without any detection devices. If time allows it, defilers are great with all technologies, with clouds and hydras under it to get carriers or even guardians. With Consume defilers regain energy, and the blood rain slowly destroys buidlings and lowers enemies' life points.
  2. I think the tendency is leaving all physical devices behind, and everything is usually stored online in megaservers. Everyday you get more and more "free space" to upload or keep your e-mails, photos, and all. P2P networks - as much as big companies hate them- are here for good and they share material which was usually on cds and DVDs. I've also heard that the new PCs will come without hard disks, and will all be done through internet connection. So I don't think there's much future in security devices for physical storing systems, at least for the everyday user.
  3. I can only think about who will this blood be available to. I mean no tonly in terms of regions and countries, but also of ecomomic levels. As with any medical discovery or scientific advance, only people that can afford huge amounts of money have access to it. So even if there IS a cure for cancer, or AIDS, I don't think it will be the end of those diseases.
  4. There are many people that believe there may be a chance of finding another civilization like ours, more or less advanced. Much of what science has been doing is looking for earth-like planets where conditions are similar to our planet, in the hope either of finding traces of life or finding new places for human settlements. It is believed that if conditions are met (conditions found in Earth), life can appear as it did in our planet. And eventually, this would lead to evolution and advanced organisms, together with a form of civilization. Then of course comes the discussion of communication/confrontation with this civilization.I usually see this, but I sometimes think why it seems this is the only way to finding other beings in the universe. There is so much we don't know about everything, and I don't see why we can't think about other possibilities. I think there may be beings living in conditions opposite to ours - for example, take the organisms living out of metane and without sunlight in the bottom of our own oceans. And why do they have to have bodies at all...? They might be of pure energy, or pure time... They might not even need "starships" to travel space...Of course, it's easier to think about friends/enemies that we can at least see, because we rely on our senses for our experience of the world, of the universe. But what if that's not enough?
  5. Source : http://www.foxnews.com/story/2007/04/26/earth-like-planet-discovered-orbiting-nearby-star.html It makes me think of all the science-fiction stories I've read about humans living somewhere else in the universe. It seems it's becoming everyday less fiction and more science. Although there's still no possibility to travel those distances in a human lifetime, it may be like some stories about families of settlers that travel together and only their children or grandchildren get to arrive to the planet. Earth-like is also a very wide concept, requiring right temperatures, gravity, and the possibility to have liquid water. From then on, I think everything else is considered to be likely to be "terraformed" to suit human needs.
  6. You can find Gmax here Turbosquid, check under Game Tools. You only have to register and you'll get the key to your mail, and download it, together with help files, tutorials, and some free models and textures. It also has a forum for support, and if you want to buy for $9.95, quite cheap im ny opinion, there are several packages ready made for games with over 40 models each with people, cars, tanks, guns, helicopters, etc.
  7. Well mine came with a DVD burner AND a Power DVD (player), why don't you get a free DVD player from donwload.com or any similar site and try with that. AND also get the latest codecs.
  8. Are you using a physical DVD or an image from your hard drive? If it's from the physical drive, DVDs have different tracks according to the origin, and DVD drives can only switch back and forth between these different regions only a couple of times. Once you have spent the switches, it keeps the last one and you cannot switch back again. Each DVD drive comes with a player, you can't read it directly from VLC or Media Player Classic. So even if it's an image, maybe you can get some DVD players from download.com, such as Easy DVD Player. It may also be a codec problem, you should try and get the latest codecs from codecguide.com, the K-lite pack has a bunch of codecs that may solve your problem.
  9. Personally I think that with over 6 million subscribers Blizzard wouldn't care less to have a few hundred playing like this. I remember a post somewhere saying that Microsoft thought pirate copies of their software was somewhat beneficial to them because it helped the users get to know the products, and in the long run if they needed support they would go and buy the registered version. So in this case it might be like this. If a person plays in a LAN with a group he will find it's a lot of fun, but quite difficult to gather always a constant group, and might consider subscribe at least once. What is more, there are thousands of private Starcraft & Diablo servers all over the world, and I've never heard of Blizzard doing anything about that. In fact, there's a huge server in my country with a couple thousand people and it's always full. In a way, it increases the fans of the game all over the world, and everything is revolving around their games, so in the end it doesn't hurt them.
  10. I absolutely agree with you. I don't live in the States. From an outside point of view, I see a country that is giving away free green cards everywhere, inviting people from other countries to become US citizens - I see this ad for example everytime I open Yahoo Mail. This is the "American Dream" open to these "new" citizens, just that they will never be "real" US citizens. Most Americans, like SilverFox, are afraid of Asians, Arabs, Latinos, black people, and the list becomes endless. At the same time, The US is engaged in a foreign policy to take meassures against possible enemies and take war to their countries instead of having it in their own country. Now, nobody mourns people who die in those countries, just because they are citizens of a country that seems a possible threat to the US. And in the end, US society is not attacked from outside, but from inside. In this case was an Asian, but in many other cases, everyday, it's an American shooting against another. What I can see is that this society is crumbling from the inside, like a statue with sand feet.
  11. Is there any possiblility to activate the support for libxslt in the server? I'm working on a project with XML and the related stylesheets XSL, in scripts processing bibliography. Thanks in advance
  12. I've never heard about this, having the mother the only rights to the embryos... And I don't see why. The father is no less a parent for not carrying a baby in his womb, and even up to the freezing stage, both parents have done exactly the same.
  13. In Argentina a new baby girl was born 10 years after her twin was born. After fertilization, the embryo was kept frozen in hydrogen for 10 years until their parents decided to have the new baby. They say it's a carefully planned family, and they didn't have any moral or religious issues with it (they are Jew). It is a new landmark in Argentinean reproductive medicine, and itâs the first case of successful pregnancy with frozen embryos (for the doctors these are called pre-embryos) In this specific case, the couple had problems conceiving babies, so in 1996 they turned to assisted fertilization and through this technique 8 pre-embryos were obtained, 4 of which were transferred and one implanted in the motherâs uterus. The other 4 were frozen slowly until they reached 196 degrees below zero. The fist transfer was successful and the mother gave birth to a boy that recently turned 10. His sister â technically twin â was born 10 years later, because the 4 embryos were kept in the freezer and just last year the couple decided to have a new baby. The embryos were unfrozen and transferred, and finally the new baby girl was born. The mother is now 48. It is an unprecedent "miracle"of the science, and this could be the future of family planning and may raise many types of questions. For example, it's not still regulated in any way the time an embryo should be kept. What if the parents die? and how many embryos should be kept after in-vitro fertilization? According to the medical association, the criopreservation avoids the disposal of non transferred pre-embryos and avoids multiple pregnancy. But then they call this state of pre-embryo until it is implanted in the motherâs womb, and from then on they call it embryo. Arenât they already human beings on their own right? Link (in Spanish)
  14. Google Adsense program doesn't pay with Paypal. You can get a check after you have a minimum of $100, or you can set up a banking account to recieve it directly there, but everything you receive has to be declared and subject to income taxes. Another program that I know does pay via Paypal is Chitika minimalls. I'm not sure exacly how it works, but it may be also set up for page impressions and pay per click for contextual advertising.
  15. Many of the saints or Holy men in history didn't read the Bible, and they are still considered great examples to follow. Many of the Apostles weren't versed people in the Bible, and still were able to live a Christian life. On the other hand, many philosophers and intellectuals have read the Bible completely, and still don't consider themselves Christians or lead christian lives. Mainly to be considered a Christian is a question of FAITH, something that was never mentioned in this post. Even if you read only some parts of the Bible, if you read it under the eyes of faith, it will be more fruitful than reading it just to say you've read it all. Also, many simple people lead simple lives, and only need a simple christian concept. Love God, be kind with everybody. You can't say that a person that does that is not Christian. At the same time, there are people that need more understanding, a deeper knowledge of the word of God, of the sense of life. They can read and study the bible in depth, and that helps them be a better chistian. None of these two types is better than the other. Now people that think and fell the same get together and organize themselves. Now, to consider ALL organised religion as wrong for me would mean that any type of organization, religious or not, is wrong, because it's only dealing with leaders controling the masses, and that would apply to any organized group, present, past or future, of any kind. The same would be for political groups too for example. And it's also reflecting that man can only be inherently bad :"there can't be good leaders".
