  1. Ellen!

Haven't seen you in a while. Hope everything's good with you.

  2. Hehe, 'descent into complete stasis' - very funny, hagar Speaking as a fitness instructor, I'd say that upping the heart rate was the most important point, however you do it - by stair climbing, running, brisk walking, cycling, swimming - your choice. Second most important would be the moving around a lot - it's actually why a lot of slim people stay slim. I must add the 'six-light-meals' techniques to my 'knowledge base' - thanks, Yratorm. Incidentally, I tried it (I like to test things out) it doesn't make you feel sluggish or drowsy. Good post here. Still waiting for your self defense masterpiece, Yratorm - kidding But it would be nice.
  3. Hey Yratorm, nice personal statement. Very positive :)

  4. hmm, nice - wish I could add some here, but not quite my field. The Ki meditation was interesting. Would you know any meditation to alter mental states - kind of make a person more confident, etc.
  5. good stuff, Yratorm. Nice training outfit too I still think you're Ninja Did you read what I wrote on some other thread about starting a self defense thread or two? I think you'd be a natural, hehe. Take care
  6. Hi everyone, I notice that we have a lot of posts on general fitness, including topics on smoking, metabolism/weight-loss and heavy-weight training.I've been thinking for some time that some good threads on self defense/self defense moves/general awareness, etc. would be very useful. I'm writing out a thread of my own on 'awareness and safety tips' - it'll be up in a few days (want to collaborate, Yratorm?) - but I'm sure there are a lot of members out there who could also add valuable threads on these topics. Some good meditations would be another nice topic for threads - meditations that calm the mind, improve focus, give you a feeling of being 'rested' - there are so many. Will post something on this too, if I can.Yratorm, a martial artist studying in the east has tons to contribute on these subjects, I'm sure Just a suggestion. Take care.
  7. hey Yratorm, you actually added my suggestions to the main post thanks for the credit too We've got quite a few fitness tutorials on this forum now - one on general fitness (this one), then on controlling metabolism, on losing weight (easy AND hard ways, no less, hehe), and even one on heavy weight training.Know what's missing? In the description of this section it says that this section is going to include self defense tips and various philosophies and meditations. I could put in a few there, and so could you, Yratorm - if you study in a martial arts school in the east and wear the costume you wear (in some of your pics), I think you're pretty much ninja - if not, then close. Just guessing, don't mind me. But I bet you have tons of self defense moves.Anyway, off-topic here, my apologies all - I think I'll start a thread on this.
  8. Hehe, so you actually put it up. It's quite a tough regimen - I think a person will be better able to 'keep it up' if they can find themselves a good training partner, preferably someone a lots more fit than they are. I think having someone with MORE endurance than you to work out with, is the best training aid anyone could possibly have. Just my five cents And thanks for the credit, Yratorm. I hope the program helps someone.
  9. Right - as I said in another post (I think your fitness program thread, Yratorm) a combination of different types of exercise is great for overall fitness - Do simple exercises like push-ups, crunches, knee-bends, etc. one day, then go for a run the next day, then do a simple (or complex) weight routine - should lead to great overall fitness, especially if you can give between half an hour to an hour to it. An hour would be optimal for an exercise program, what do you think, Yratorm? If one can afford it, of course - I doubt the average working person can. And I think I agree - if one does a strenuous half an hour/one hour routine for three (or more) months (and mixes the exercise types) it's bound to create great conditioning and all round fitness. By the way, just a note - I've been to their site, and I think their before and after pictures are rather unlikely- to go from 'very out of condition' to 'perfectly sculpted figure' just working out at home for three months seems a bit unlikely. Unless of course you're willing to make it your life for three months or so. I HATE before and after pics, don't you? They always have them - I find it so 'gimmicky'. Course that might just be me. I'm NOT saying their program won't give you reasonable fitness if you're really willing to sweat at it, I think it would - but as you said Yratorm, almost any good program would do that. But perfect sculpting, I think that's unlikely. Still, not a bad thing for those who can afford it, I guess.
  10. This is a great thread to maintain fitness on a very short schedule. Running and light weights would be a good addition to this routine - for example, do this schedule one day, run on another, do light weights on a third (well, at least I do light weights) - I think this 'mixing' of exercise types is a very good way to achieve all round fitness - you have basic cardio/aerobic exercise covered, AND you improve muscle tone. I think a combination of various different types of exercises is optimal for overall fitness.
  11. I think it's inspirational too. A superb attitude. Keep it up, Mbacarra, and all the best with everything!!
  12. Don't know and don't particularly care. Kings and presidents (and large companies) come and go. Now if someone were to build a starship that was cheap and efficient tomorrow THAT would catch my attention. A company is only a company, but a starship is a road to the very stars.Yup, I know, I'm just a dreamer. Always have been. 'nuff said.
