That works. I'm familiar with that method, but was wondering if there was something else I could do. But I've just gone ahead and done it this way. Thanks for the help.

You mean sessions.php, right? It's located in the includes folder. I found just two instances of $user_id = $userdata['user_id'] = ANONYMOUS; is that all? I don't know PHP very well, so could you confirm that this is all right? Thanks.

<style type="text/css">#memoryticker{width: 448px;}</style> So, I've got this as part of the stylesheet for a JavaScript I'm using (I removed the irrelevant parts of the code for this question). When it's at width:448, it aligns itself properly with the image it's next to perfectly - for FireFox When it's at width:450, it aligns itself properly with the image it's next to perfectly - for Internet Explorer Too see what I'm doing, visit this page: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ You will see News/Updates. That's an image that's 450px wide. Below that is the Javascript, which in Firefox needs to be 448px wide because it has the 1px border on the sides (1px border * 2 + 448 = 450). IE does not add the border pixels to the width, making it 2 pixels short. I need to make it so that [if IE], the style will be width:450 Can I use an [if IE] tag in there somehow?

I have an external hard drive, but every time it's used, it starts a new letter until my computer is restarted. For example: it's on letter E: when I first turn it on. If I turn it off and turn it back on later, it will then give letter F:, then next time G:, then H:, etc. The strangest thing is that the shortcuts I make to it will sometimes still work after letter changes, but sometimes not - I haven't figured that out yet. How do you assign a permanent letter to a hard drive? Note: I'm using WinXP Pro. No, it's not a problem with the OS. I have given a name to the device, but that didn't solve the problem.

No, maybe I didn't explain myself well enough... My computer is on the whole time. If I turn off my Ext HD, and later turn it back on, it will not have the same letter. For example, right now the letter has reached K:. If I turn it off now and turn it back on, it will then have letter L: I just installed WinXP Pro, but it was the same thing before I formatted my computer (internal HD). So I really don't think that it has anything to do with a problem with the OS. **** 5 minutes later **** Ah ha! Lol, how simple. Turns out that all I had to do was give the drive a NAME. Right-click the drive from My Computer and select Properties. I gave it a name and now it keeps the same letter instead of being assigned a new letter each time it's used. Apparently, without a name, Windows doesn't remember if it's the same device every time it's used and gives it a new drive letter. Thanks for trying anyways!

I played again and the problem isn't gone. I updated my audio driver and DirectX... played again... still have problem. The only other thing I could think of is if it's too hot. But since my fans are running normally, are clean, and the air they blow is not hot, I have doubts about that being it.What do you mean about checking my graphics card? I have ATI Radeon IGP 320M. OpenGL and Direct3D are both set to optimal proformance. Is there something else you mean about "check my graphics card?"I'm ready to just call this comp a piece of $%!*. That's okay, because it's not mine. I'm just using it temporarily.

I got Athlon AMD 1.52 Ghz and 64MB Video card.I went to Compaq support web site and tried something new. I uninstalled my display adapter and restarted (auto reinstall). I'm going to have to just play for a while and see. I don't know what triggers the problem, sometimes it's first game and sometimes it's after a couple hours, so I'll want to test it for at least a couple hours tonight before I know if it's fixed.

I'm using a Compaq Presario 2100 (Compaq is worst computer ever made, in my opinion). When I run a game - full screen 640x480 - sometimes it will freeze my computer. When this happens, the sounds skips a clip of about .5 seconds repeatedly. The screen always goes either all-black or -another color. To get out of this, I have to force shut down. Last time it happened, after restarting the screen was flashing, very slightly, like a wave effect, and it faded away after a couple minutes. This only happens when I play this game. Sound or video driver? What could it be? How do I fix it? Also, perhaps unrelated, when I play media, it won't show up on my TV (using S-Video).

I once looked into Alienware, but decided not to get it because it was so expensive. Since then, I have encountered one in the computer lab of my university, belonging to the guy who does computer repairs. I asked him about it and he said it sucks. I believe him.

I once used an old version of Frontpage a long time ago and I didn't like it. I really like DreamWeaver. I haven't used Frontpage's new versions, but I can at least be sure that Dreamweaver is equally as good, if not better.

Rap, as a form of music is not a bad thing. It can be used very creatively in ways that other forms of music cannot. But I understand why some people see and blame it as violent, explicit, etc., but their understanding of why it's that way is usually quite non-existent. "Black music": Sometimes it should be called "Minority music" when such a stereotype is used. The content of rap and its connection to minorities are cyclical. Blacks are associated with rap because of the history of rap (like Jazz). Blacks are also, as minorities, a major American population in poverty (as a result of slavery and segregation). Poverty removes these people from mainstream society, which in turn degrades their quality of life, which then leads to violence... Violence: It's not society that makes people violent, at least not exclusively. It's not the media, music, video games, etc., that cause violence, but our human nature. (Refer to Demonic Males by Wringham and Peterson.) And as minorities, these people have used their form of music to express their lifestyle, which is quite violent (among other things). So do you understand why there's so much violence in modern rap music? It's because rap is black music, blacks are minorities, minorities are on the edge of society and mostly low-income, which leads to a lower quality of life and the expression of our innate violent human nature. Of course, not only blacks listen to rap. Nor is rap the only music that has violence or other degenerate material. Some heavy metal and hardcore music represent another paradigm of this condition of music. I'd say that it's true that violent music will lead to more violence. Sex music more sex, etc. But it's not the style of music nor the producers who are to blame. Violence and other degeneration are a result of something being wrong with society (i.e. poverty). The cycle begins as the violent music that?s expressed causes more violence, which lessens the quality of life, and then creates more violent music.

What Is Your Best Game You Ever Played? i want to know it:P
gunbound replied to hellgate's topic in Computer Gaming
Unreal Tournament 2004 UT2004 used to (well, I guess still is) my favorite game. I used to play console games a lot, but once I got a decent computer I switched to CPU games. I started with UT2003, but unfortunately, when I got 2004 it ended up being a bit too much for my laptop to handle (my video card is crap!). I will play it again some day. GunBound Since My comp couldn't handle graphic intense games, I started playing GunBound. It's a simple game that you can download and play for free, only about 102MB download. It's really addictive. I used to watch my friend play it while I was trying to play a laggy UT2004, and eventually decided to try GB. I was hooked. Eventually, I decided to make a web site for it, which is what brought me here. -
Nice run-on sentence. Too bad I, and others, can't figure out what you're trying to say. Please! People, don't write something like that so that people can't understand.Anyways, whatever the problem with your girlfriend... Enjoy having had the opportunity. Get over her if it doesn't work out, learn from your mistakes, and do better next time. Experience = learning = progress.

Msn Messenger 7.0 Final Its running very slow and laggy.
gunbound replied to Inspiron's topic in General Discussion
I don't have any qualms about it really. The only "laggy" problems that I have are that it takes a few minutes after I log-in before it notifies me of new email. The other is that it takes a few seconds to display my contacts right after logging-in.No big deal really. If you want a liter version, just use Windows Messenger. -
I'm entirely sure that Limewire has no spyware and I'm quire sure that it doesn't have adware. It does have something called Grokster though that is addded to the regsitry. If it is removed it comes back, as I've tried getting rid of it (one scanning program of mine said it was malware of some sort). I just Googled it and the result is http://www.grokster.com/ - another P2P utility. It seems to me that Limewire shares its technologies. The Grokster web site says that it uses adware on it's program, but I haven't noticed any adware/pop-ups from Limewire. I don't know what this Grokster installation from Limewire is from, but it doesn't seem to cause any trouble. If you have Limewire and it makes your computer slow (internet), it's because you're allowing a lot of bandwidth to be used by people downloading from you. Close the programs or change the settings to avoid this problem.

Other posts about firewalls haven't satisfied my questions about Windows XP Service Pack 2's Firewall. I want to know if there's any reason why not to trust it alone. I already have Norton, but the damn thing takes up so many resources... this is my situation: I'm just about to get a new external hard drive, on which I will back-up all my files. Then I'm going to reformat my hard drive, as it hasn't been since I got this comp two years ago and it needs it. I don't have a whole lot of resources to compromise on this computer, so I want to minimize the amount of software I put back on it. Since Norton System Works is such a hog, that's gotta go, and probably Norton Internet Security as well, if that's possible. I'm also behind a router, but I'm not sure it it has a firewall. Since I'll have all my files kept on an external hard drive, I suppose that I won't need to be as concerned about getting a virus, or am I wrong? Can you tell me if or how I'll be suseptible to a virus on my external hard drive? Say, I did get a virus, trojan, worm, etc., and I couldn't find it with Ad-aware, and I had big problems, I could just reformat my hard drive (in this rare occurance). Any problem with that plan? All suggestions welcome. If you have a problem with SP2 firewall, please explain why.

I don't know anything about PHP, except that I use phpBB and have modified my forums template files.I used to make web sites years ago and just got back into it a couple months ago. I wonder if I should stop using shtml and switch to php. I don't really have time to learn php (at least not yet), but if it's easy to replace my Server Side Include with php (just to be more "modern") I would be willing to do so.Anyone have any suggestions about me doing so? Am I'm too old school for using shtml? Lol I never see any web sites that use it anymore. If there's an easy way for me to learn how to use PHP, specifically for includes (as that's all I think I should want to use it for), I would appreciate the help.
