I am new to Linux. I have just installed Ubuntu 5.10 on Pentium Xeon XSeries 226 server. I want to install driver for my existing Zyxel 630-11 ADSL modem to connect to the internet. I have also downloaded the driver from sourceforge in .tgz format.I don't know how to install this driver. If anyone know... please help me.

Is there any software or mechanism available which can protect my CD from being copied to another CDs.

Hey, You all people have very good phones, but for me. I started from Ericson T28i, very good looking cell phone at that time. Now I use Nokia 1100 due to its battery backup and durability. I don't have to worry if this phone accidently slips from my hand or from anywhere else.

I use windows. When I first used computer it was DOS, then unix during my college. But when I started working I had to work on windows, which seems very easy for me, because earlier I have not used windows.So, I prefer windows for its simplicity, eaisily understandability and nothing more I expect from it, because when security and other issues come to play it may bother for a professional personal but for a common user, who does not know about these technicalities, it is really good.I have tried Linux, but I have still not got a good reason why to use Linux instead of WindowsRegarding MacOS, neither I have never used it nor I have seen this.

I have faced the same problem last week, I never thought that it would be a virus problem or windows XP bug. My computer has not been upgraded to XP SP2. But, when I installed Avast virus home edition and also upgraded my mozila firefox to 1.0.2 the message disapeared.I don't know, which one acted. During installation avast antivirus has found one virus that was lovegate, which have been removed now.

This is realy incredible. The size of the gmail accouunt increasing, last evening it was 1054 MB now it is 1056 MB. I like gmail because I have to send and receive too much attachments. I find it very useful, because I am using Gmail drive, through which I can simply copy and paste any files which is required to be send as attachment in gmail drive and forward the mail from my inbox to any desired person u want, within a second, it will not take so much time for file to upload.One beautiful feature of gmail is that u find sponsored link in the side bar on the E-mail topics.

I generally have a speed of 60-70 word per minute when I am typing english, but for other languages like Hindi it becomes very slow, somewhere between 15-20 word per minute. How many of u are typing other languages than English.

It seems very simple but, I have tried almost all available formatting styles to enter a particular time in a excel sheet. Basically, I have to calculate the difference between two times in the form of hours, minutes and seconds for which the function Text(?cell reference?, HH, MM, SS) may be used but only after the time period is entered in time format. Whenever I enter the time and try to format using Format -> cells->time?. the data is changed to some another time and the time format is applied. If anyone knows, please reply.

Is it possible to change my domain name from existing binod12.trap17.com to a name like binod12.co.xx or something like that?What is the meaning of parking a domain? Is it possible to change the domain name by using this feature?

Does hosting credit is evaluated on the basis of quality of the post? Isn?t it fair enough to provide extra hosting credit/benefit for users who have crossed 100 posts or 200 posts? Do all members in the forum register only for hosting account? It has become very difficult to post messages daily. Since, I have very few hosting credit, it seems that in future, I shall lost my hosting credit, but I shall continue to post messages on the forum whether I retain the hosting package or not, because I have learned so many things in this forum.

Does the quality of the website is checked by the administrator and if it is below some standard is it allowed or not? Do you provide any suggestion for theme of the website or enhancement of the features introduced in the website?

I have certain questions for clarification.What is the life cycle of a post? So far, which post got maximum no. of responses?If no reply is given to a post how longer it remains active in the forum? I have posted few new topics related to ?Network Monitoring tools? but did not received any reply. Is it allowed to start a new topic on that subject or continue to add reply on that topic?

I have also installed Windows XP SP2 firewall. It is working fine, but there is a problem with my antivirus. I am using Norton Antivirus 2004. Wherenever, my system boots it shows "Unable to protect C:" and I have to close that message box to use Norton Antivirus. I have scanned two or three times my computer for any virus threat, but it has shown only one or two viruses. What does it mean? Is it due to XP SP2 firewall, because earlier I this message was not appearing.

It has become common problem in my office. Some floppies do not open in Windows XP and it shows error, Cyclic Redundancy check error, what does it mean ? If I use the same floppy on another computer having windows '98 it opens all the files and sometimes some of the files.The same floppy when formated with windows XP starts working, which were showing the error earlier.

At present I am using Frontpage for designing and publishing of my website. I just want to know what are the various pros and cons of using Frontpage while designing a website, because there are so many other editors of HTML exists. What will be a better choice for a beginner, who knows programming in C, C++ and a little bit knowledge of HTML, Jscript, VBscript?

First of all i will check any alternative way to connect to the internet, if the existing problem with hardware or ISP if internet goes down.I donot use so much cellphone or phone, so that will not have too much effect.In all the above cases if it happens for a few hours or days, it will be good because u can interact with nearby people, which sometimes may not be possible because of busy schedule with internet and phone.

Where can i find content checking enabling and disabling in firefox like it used to be in Internet Explorer ?Is there any method to block a particular website by using password? What is the use of profile setting in firefox. It has shown me only one time, since then I am not able to find profile setting. Does my problem can be solved by using profile setting?

In one of my P-4 computer I am using freeware version of Avast antivirus and I got surprised to know that while visiting a website serials.ws, the Norton did not detected any virus, while Avast detected the virus and it also reports this in a very interactive way. So, one must be careful while visiting serials.ws using Norton antivirus

I am using Windows XP on P-II, 550 MHz, 128MB RAM computer, which was running smoothly. But, after the installation of Norton Antivirus 2004, its performance has been reduced too much. I have to wait several minutes for windows to start after booting and even after booting it works very slow when any new program is launched.I don?t know why this antivirus is using too much resources, whereas even the freeware versions of other antivirus like Avast, AVG etc. were working fine.Can anybody tell me why Norton Antivirus is using so much resources, what is the technology behind this?

I think that would be a simple, faster and easier operating system if google launches it. I will definitely buy it, if it follows all the above mentioned criteria. However, Windows and Linux are presently dominating the market, but as gmail is spreading today, it is overbeating msn and others, google os will do the same.

Whenever we send an e-greetings for any occasion, we specify a particular date on which that greeting is delivered. Is it possible for a simple E-mail to act like this i.e. to be delivered on a particular specified date? Is it possible to delete the mail which has already been sent by has not been seen/checked by the receipient?

I have some very useful old WS documents with their dot commands. Now I am using word, but MS-word is not able to convert the document in previous WS format, some special character along with dot commands & too many blank lines are added inside the document, which requires manual deletion.I wanted to know if any add-in support either in ws or word exists which can solve my problem.

Sometime I require text matters of Acrobat reader in Microsoft word. I use simply copy and paste method, which creates problem by creating broken lines for a single paragraph in word document, which I manually delete from the end of each line.Is there any software or tools available in word or some add-in program which can convert pdf document into word format except distiller, because it is not a freeware, useful only for a limited period.I have also created some macros but it also does not solve my problem.
