Just so you know I have a mac, and it got a virus. It wasnt hard to find or get rid of though. As far as the decision between the two OSs I pic both. When I saw both I mean buy a mac, when mac os x leopard comes out, and then get a copy of Vista, when it comes out too (I suggest Vista Ultimate) and run then together with what is currently know as Boot Camp, it will come installed on Leopard when it is out of the beta stage. This way you can run both of them together and have the best of both great worlds. The only thing that holds me back from a mac is the price, sure a mini is fine and it is a good price, but I really dont want just a mini, I would like an iMac, but those are about $2000-$3000 if custamise them, and I'd perfer customized, but I dont have that money sitting around. | All in all I really like Vista and Mac, and both of those worlds would be great. Windows -- >< -- Mac

Microsoft's Zune To Rival Apple's Ipod
mtvoyagers replied to JField's topic in Science and Technology
It kind of sounds like you have never seen in real life, or used an iPod, 3rd World contry? do you see pictures of people in etheopia walking around saying these are right for us third world type, no, you see them wanting and needing food and shelter. Also I do hope you know that iPod works with mac and windows with no hastel, and most likely, "Zune" will have troubles with integration, depending on what software they use for it. One last quick thing, once you have boughten twenty dolars of music from iTunes you really can't use any other mp3 player, besides iPod and I really don't feel like buying $350 in music from someone else, just because all of a sudden microsoft decides to start the race. I do support Microsoft and Windows much, much more than Apple and mac, but from what I have used, music player wise Apple definatly has the better product with better features, also Apple won the race in advertisement, I might have thought an iRiver, or something else was better, but I didnt see the features and the QUALITY that I saw and see in iPods. If you think iPod is low-end then why dont you try to find a music player with a cleaner interface, and more features than iPod, which will also play protected content without going over $300. I bet the Zune will cost just as much or more as your average iPod too. But if microsoft actually pulls something out worth while that looks good, is compact, and is a better value than iPod that will also play protected content I would love to use it. -
It seems to be the problem that every one is having, you can't access a webserver, unless it is connected dirrectly to the internet, otherwise IP addresses get messed up, which causes your path to your website to be wrong. There are ways to get around this with dynamic IP addresses, if you go to http://www.zoneedit.com/dynamic-dns/?. That should help you. However you must have a domain name registered, with a registar, and it has to be its own domain, not sub, otherwise it won't work, which was my problem, and which is why I host with Xisto. Also your computer will have to be on and running 24/7, otherwise the website will not be viewable. Now for your webserving software, the best I have found is Appserv, it is a package of: AppServ 2.4.5 Apache 1.3.34<li>PHP 4.4.1<li>MySQL 5.0.16<li>phpMyAdmin-2.5.7-pl1 To download it or just to check it out go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ In my own opinion, if you want a website with 95+ percent of uptime then you should use someone elses computers, like Xisto. However you can have fun trying to get a webserver to work, just make sure you have a direct path to the server from the World Wide Web.

The only problem with your thought is that google won't know if you are using firefox to display a site differently, its not like your computer is sending a request to google along with the css, its just applying it, so even if they are against it they will never know that you did it unless you install google software special designed to look at what you are looking at and report it to google, which obviously isn't happening at the moment and I doubt ever will happen. Also there is a problem with using that extension and the newest version of firefox, as the newest version of firefox and anything above 1.0 do not work with this extesion, looks great but to bad.

well now they have th ROKR and The SLVR which all have itunes compatability, so yeah its it an iPod, Camera, Cellphone and more all in one, but they don't give you the deals where if you sign up they give u the phone its more like pay $100 get the phone then sign up. I don't think I will be buyuing one any time soon, just because it can hold 25 songs (ROKR) and my iPod can hold thousands.

u have a point about most schools using Mac, but they hate them because most of the schools parents have windows and it seems to be a compatiblity problem when one person rights up a report on a mac and emails it to a parent who can read the mac on the pc, because it only works with mac + I have seen more and more, or heard schools having mac at one time then switching to windows, but they do like powerschool better. however my school uses other resources that can do more than powerschool, and also every student that goes to that school has 24/7 live access to all of the districts programs, all running on windows, oh and i'm not quite sure almost all is 100% correct. it may just be me but with os's there are two groups macs, and pcs, pcs seem to be the easyier of the two to use, mac may be good for photos and video , and sound, which I would love it if I had access to that type of stuff, but for productivity pc will always win, obviously die hard pc fan ha, wow, I do have to say that is one heck of a claim there, but I still have to say in the business world what is the most used operating system, windows, oh and also, google stock may be in the upper $300s-lower$400s but there stock price isusually dropping so its hard to make money off them, as microsofts stock remains rather constant and rising, alot easier to make money off of that rather than declining amounts of money. I really do like google but to make claims the they are so much bigger and better, they are great but I don't think I would have near as much fun surfing the net and using google with linux, no, I need windows and you do know that windows/microsoft was around even before google, and also does anyone know what operating system google serves off of? it could be linux, but I bet they have used windows. and you know now that I think of it it really doesn't matter who is bigger, google is a web based service so right now you really can't compare them and microsoft as microsoft is software. you know its kind of like the firefox - IE argument, I still like them both very much which is the same as google and microsoft
-
it may be different from computer to computer but your wrong, it appears that you are a die hard IE fan, but have you ever tried firefox? I like IE, because its what I am used to and I don't mind waiting an extra couple of seconds, but if I want to get some thing done fast I use firefox, plus it is still a bit safer, however when IE 7 is finally compatible with vista as an update I'll go back to it.

Aol Im Virus Dont click the link
mtvoyagers replied to elevenmil's topic in Security issues & Exploits
ok, so asuming that the person, or thing who changed your password didn't change your email address, go to the lost password area by clicking Here or https://i.aol.com/account/error?errorCode=nojs or if u feel better there and try to submit it that way. If u do not get an email with the password then all you can do is get a new account and tell all of your friends to delete the other one of their buddy lists and start fresh Here is what AOL says wow, I guess I was lucky, of corse I did have the latest update from aol as a member so It may have been blocked by the time it came to me -

Mircrosoft "ipod Killer", Mp3 Player Wars picture and info
mtvoyagers replied to hedzup's topic in Science and Technology
I agree on the videos, I have the feature but have never actually used it, I even downloaded videos, but still have never watched them. However with the size and style I think they need to do something new, otherwise it will be no different then any other mp3 player, besides the Wi-fi, but i dont think i would buy it just for the Wi-fi, because apple and others will probably have that in the near future too, and plus it kind of already does happen with vcast from Verizon (and sprint, so on) I can download songs there too, and my phone will work as an mp3 player so I can add CDs and such, however that does kill batterie too. It will be truely interesting to see what happens with Window mp3 player and Apple and all of the others. -
Introducing Opera! The Fastest Web Browser On Earth! as they say..
mtvoyagers replied to braitt's topic in The Internet
I tried Opera and it wasn't for me, it was actually a bit slugish for me and I never got used to the interface, I normally use firefox, which now asks you if you want to close tabs and also on Bon Echo (New Firefox Beta) and the newest version of firefox you can recover tabs. Also I used avent browser which was what I think the best browser I ever used, I just forgot to redownload it after I changed operating systems. I have also used IE7 but its still a bit slugish as a beta. -
Mircrosoft "ipod Killer", Mp3 Player Wars picture and info
mtvoyagers replied to hedzup's topic in Science and Technology
Well, i would be interested in buying it, but its to big, if u try to put it in your pocket it will stick out the top and, as a consumer that got into that whole iPod craze, I would be worried about being able to put all of the songs that I had for my iPod/iTunes on this new mp3 player, as those are mp4s and protected. That would be $350 of music that I like, down the drain, but if they made the music/device compatable then there would be no problem. I also agree with Mr. T on the style of it, its just crappy and cheapish looking and I asume they will charge anyware from $300-$600 for it I would just stick to the Pod. However when the Pod gets outdated, I might look at whatever is more popular, and which one is more bang for your buck. -
WOW, Man that is impossibly small, but it will be usefull to all-in-one computers, if they make the hd and processor smaller and the components besides those smaller it could be as small as the current LCD moniter

I like IE7, but I have vista and I have a few problems,1.Can't Uninstall IE7 beta 2 to install beta 32.On Vista, IE goes down/crashes really easy, or so I have seen on my own machine, of course its not quite up to standard for vista.but I am really focused on #1, does anyone know a way of uninstalling it in vista??? if you do reply to this or pm me, it'd be really nice to upgrade.nvm that last one, I can't worry about upgrading, when my os isn't even supported, even though IE7 is to be realeased as its (vista's) main browser, this is sad, I like microsoft but when there stuff stops working with what its supposed to ur screwed

Girls And Bathrooms. You always wanted to know...
mtvoyagers replied to hedzup's topic in Science and Technology
that is extremely funny, the bathroom blog, HAHAHA, so just curious did anyone work out the ratio of males to females that have been replying to this post? just currious, cause I've only seen maybe 20 posts so far and only 2 girls have commented. the racing theory is good but I know too many girls that might kill each other to have or keep the record, and their not dead, so it doesn't quite seem right, still laughing though lol -
Computer Water Cooling System So cool
mtvoyagers replied to Panzer's topic in Science and Technology
The most used liquid coolant is alienware, and I guess its more like a gel, but I think the tubing is made with some type of flexible synthetic plastic, so it never breaks, just cools, and looks awesome as it is lit up, but its like an extra $100 if u order it online at alienware's site -
Strip Searches In Schools do u think its right?
mtvoyagers replied to B-T's topic in General Discussion
wow, strip searching is a bit far, my school has dog searches once in a while and thats about it, but if they find drugs they just take them, clean out that locker and expell the kid, and not a single persone knows about it besides the kid, his/her parents and the principal, its like the person just disapeared off of the face of the planet -
Anyone Have Tried Wireless Internet ?
mtvoyagers replied to RemoteConnection's topic in Computer Networks
http://www.hughesnet.com/ go there to see about satelite internet, I saw a commercial for it once in a town in the middle of nowhere in nebraska, it says its broadband satelite internet if you use WEP protocal or newer protocals like these its extremely safe: WPA-PSK (TKIP) WPA2-PSK (AES) WPA-PSK (TKIP) + WPA2-PSK (AES) and trust me it is secure, also you can disable the broadcast of your SSID so the only people that can get in are the ones that know its there and they then have to know the exact SSID plus they have to know the key (password), its like logging into email, only safer also just so you know I use a cabel modem, with a wireless router on top of that, my internet is actually as fast, or faster as being directly conected to the modem and as safe, but I do have the newest router avaliable and expensive -
Anyone Have Tried Wireless Internet ?
mtvoyagers replied to RemoteConnection's topic in Computer Networks
Sorry, I have to disagree, well sorta, a wireless network is both, I have a home wireless network, netgear router and it is a network where I can access printers other cpus shared files all through the network, then there are larger networks like isps with wirless towers, or satelite or like a cell phone companies "networks", network is a broad term of any connected systems or communication, in a general statement anything connected, Xisto could be called a network if u wanted it to. You could be right though in which type of network he is talkin about. -

Internet Explorer 7 Beta I and its at my favorite site
mtvoyagers replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Science and Technology
Ok, so if you are trying to install IE6 over IE7 it will not install because says that IE7 is a newer version and thus can't be installed, but for Vista I found that microsoft has not released a version of IE7 that thinks its compatable, I have IE7 beta 2 and I was trying to update to beta 3, but it says that my OS is not supported, so untill microsoft gets there act togethere I can only use beta 2 and the other browsers, like firefox. Its rather anoying. -
Internet Explorer 7 Beta I and its at my favorite site
mtvoyagers replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Science and Technology
If you are running it on xp, just go into control panel, add/remove programs, then at the top click show updates. Then look through the list for IE7 as an update and just uninstall it, it will then go back to IE 6. Now my question for anyone is how do you uninstall it in Vista, I have Vista and have tried the method that I just described and its not there, I also look in the windows updates area and looked a all the updates I have installed and its not there, I am trying to uninstall it so that I can use Beta 3.
