How come when I first added all of my songs into iTunes on the top bar, they all said "detecting song volume" or something like that and all of the songs played at the same volume and were adjusted so one song wasn't very loud and the next one barely hearable? Now when I add music nothing happens and some of these songs, now, are much louder than the others? Any ideas?

Yes, I have a wireless router but I need much faster transfer than those slow speed. Just read everything below and you will be familiar with my situation. I have posted on some other forums and they just say that it is an IP conflict.Well here's the whole problem:I have already gave the same exact info to about 10 different HP Technical Support Online Chat Technicians (Or so what they are called) I am having problems connecting my laptop to my desktop with an ethernet cable. I can hook up my desktop to my other laptop with an ethernet cord perfectly fine and transfer files I can hook up my desktop to any other desktops perfectly fine with an ethernet cord But this laptop that i just got yesterday (a pavillion dv8000) will not hook up to my desktop with an ethernet cord It will though, hook up to my xbox 360 with an ethernet When i hook up this laptop to my desktop computer, neither computers even recognize that a cable is plugged in The LAN says 'a network cable is unplugged' Neither of them even say 'limited or no connection' I installed the newest drivers on both computers And the only time that i get close to connecting is when i reinstall the drivers on my laptop Right after the installation, the LAN icon on the taskbar which normally has a red X through it, changes to Connected (100mbps) but then goes back to "disconnected" 5 seconds later. If I go into Network Connections and disable the Local Area Connection on my laptop, and then enable it, for about 3 seconds it connects. On my laptop taskbar it shows connected and then goes back to disconnected, but on my desktop taskbar nothing happens at all.And that's basically it, so I was thinking that I can just use this extra modem, I guess not. My other possibilities I guess, are using an ethernet-usb adapter, like you said, or using a switch which basically works the same way as a router.
-
I have an old modem that still works fine (The cable guys thouht it was bad so they gave us a new one for free). So I got this modem and my two computers. The two computers don't like eachother and won't connect through an ethernet. Basically what I want to do is hook up my two computers through my modem. I don't know if this is possible for data transfer like a router or a switch but it's worth a try. On the back of my modem, there is a Coaxial cable, an ethernet cable, and a usb cable input. What I want to know if I can do is hook up one computer with the ethernet and the other one with the usb. So it would look like this: LAPTOP---------usb-----------MODEM----------ethernet-----------COMPUTER Does anybody know if this is possible or not, I really would appreciate the help. Thank you.

The only time I ever "screwed up" (if you want to call it) is in my first post when I copied and pasted some article and put quotes around it like this "words in the thing." I didn't know where the actualy quote button was so I thought that would be fine. Not according to a very po'd staff member though, he leftt me with a 20% warning level and a suspension for 3 days. Pretty stupid eh? And that was back in the summer and I STILL haven't had the warning taken away.So here are my 3 warns. They say lack of contribution and extreme lack of content. All I was trying to do is help, and in return I get treated as a schmuck. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Always QUOTE words what are not your own. Little slip-ups like this will cost you a raise in warning. Review our forum rules once again.
-
Im just inquiring about the warn levels. Ive done a search and none of the top results had anything ABOUT the warn level itself so...yeah I got this from that other gut but just read it.As you can see my warn is raised to 30%. When does or will it ever go down? Thanks.

its not that pathetic compared to me. i have 3 lvl 60s in wow.. and i rarely play. a druid, a priest, and a rogue. basically if you want to find groups easily be a priest. everyone always needs a healer. it is not a fun class to play for beginners though. so i wouldnt be this if i were you. rogues suck. they can stealth, but thats about it. druids are my favorite class, but they are complicated to play (to play well that is). not a good beginners class. warriors are by far the best beginners class. first off they are one of the best classes in the game, they are always needed in groups, and they can rape in pvp. i would really recommend being this. once you start to get talent points go online and look up good specs for soloing/pvping. you DO NOT NEED to spec protection for groups. only reason to be prot is for raiding/end game. the shaman is a fun class too. they are very versitile and aren't bad as a first class. you can heal, dps, and tank low lvl instances. the totem quests are kinda hard for beginners, but you can find help. pallys are one of the easiest classes in the game. my first character was a pally. they can be really boring, but they are a GREAT beginning character. hunters are fun for beginners. just about all girls i know in real life made a hunter when they started just because they get pets. lol. the pets are really usefull and make it so you can easily kill stuff without worrying about you getting hurt. range fighter, really fun. good beginner character. warlocks are fun, but not great for beginners. they get pets as well. they can be quite complicated and such and you have to rely on fear kiting often times. mages are a good class to begin with. easy to solo with, but dies fast. you will get groups pretty easily and you can summon your own food and water to regain life in between fights and minimize downtime. out of races basically it goes like this. horde side try to be undead (for will of forsaken) or orc (for resistances). ally side try to be elf (shadowmeld) or human (rep gain will be nice when you get higher lvls, trust me). all races have their good and bad points though. mainly i would try not to be gnome or troll. WoW that took a while to write. i hope it helped you guys though because some people in this thread seems like thaey need help.

Complete Signature Tutorial Adobe Photoshop 7+
brautigam replied to Slay's topic in General Discussion
If you do use photoshop a lot. It is very usefull to go threw photoshops own help file and learn the basic shortcut keys as i have... just a few random examples... - alt+backspace = fill - ctrl+mouse click a layer = select all pixels in that layer - alt+mouse click between 2 layers = overlap A Layer, to make the effect of 1 layers pixels transparent to the above layer. transparrent pixels in affect then mask, making for example - see threw text. and tones of effects can be created just by changing the layers propertys. in the drop down tab were it says "normal" in the layer box... basic tip to use these is... - creat a new layer above the image - then do for example - use the 'gradient tool' and fill the entire layer with 1 side "50%gray" and the other "Black". - then change its layer propertys to example - 'overlay', or 'color dodge' - you can play with 'fill' / 'opacity' for intensity. - some effects use 50%gray as nutral(or transparent) and others use White. There are tones more basic stuff like that you can learn just from photoshops own help file. 1 more ill point out that may be usefull... using a 'Alpha channel'(aka a saved selection from photoshop's 'channels tab') as a filter in ImageReady when converting a image to .gif format(i dont rememeber witch other formats apply if any)... can be used to reduce the image output size for greater compression, sometimes with no visible loss of quality(respectivly speaking since gif is lossy). what the filter does is limit were u wont color sample for the format to be consentrated... Black space means it ignores that part, white space means it consentrates more color sampled from that part.. gray is everything in inbetween. - make 2 dots in diagonal, use retangle selection tool to select around both of them. - go /edit/define pattern - go to 'Channel tab' creat new channel - use 'fill tool' select 'pattern' fill channel with pater to make a checker box - then when you 'jump to image ready' u can select the alpha channel # in the gif box propertys were ever it is. -

Megaupload Reduced Their Download Limit Again! [resolved]
brautigam replied to DogEater008's topic in General Discussion
in my opinion, the limits should be going up. internet connection is getting so much faster every year it seems. my friend has a connection speed of 24mbps. this is so much!!! these sites should just get a better connection which doesnt cost as much now as it did a couple of years ago and let people upload alot more. that is just my opinion but you can dissagree with me. -
Can't run shareaza and surf the internet at the same time? There could be two problems: Your uploads are killing your downloads and/or you are using Windows 95/98/ME. If you are uploading constantly and havent limited the bandwidth then it is likely that you are killing your download speed which is affecting your ability to surf the web and do other tasks. If you are uploading lots and download speeds are suffering: Start Shareaza. Click on the Tools menu, then click Shareaza Settings. In the box that just popped up, there is a list of menus on the very left side. Click on the entry that saiys 'Uploads.' There is a section called 'Bandwidth.' At the moment, it should read 'MAX KB/S' Click on the box, clear 'MAX KB/S' and type in a number about 80% of your rated upload bandwidth. Click apply. Restart Shareaza. If you are using Windows 95/98/ME: Start Shareaza. Click on the Tools menu. In the box that just popped up, there is a list of menus to the very left side. Click on 'Downloads.' Find the entry that says 'Max Number of Transfers' (or something similar). Change this value to something smaller, like '4' or '5.' There is also an entry that says 'Max Number of Transfers per file.' Change this value to '5' or '10'. Restart Shareaza. Solution courtesy of l33ts0n Can't connect to G2? Can't connect to Gnutella2? Follow the directions below. They add websites, which have lists of G2 hubs to the list of "Discovery Services". Shareaza uses these services to find G2 Hubs and connect to the network. If you have anything less than the latest Shareaza (either Final or Beta), don't bother reading this. Upgrade, see if your problem is fixed, then try this. Be sure that your Firewall or Router is configured before attempting this. See the FAQ Add Service Automatically (For Most Standard Compliant Browsers): PASTE THESE URL'S IN YOUR BROWSER WITH shareaza:gwc: ! Code: shareaza:gwc:http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Add G2 Discovery Service Add G2 Discovery Service Code: shareaza:gwc:http://lygo.com/ly/sitemissing.html Add G2 Discovery Service Add G2 Discovery Service Now, open Shareaza and Press F9. The "Discovery Services" window should pop up. Right click on one of the addresses in the window and select "Query Now". You should now begin to connect to the G2 network. Add Service Manually (For Opera [before 7.2] and other Incompatible Browsers) Open Shareaza and Press F9. The "Discovery Services" window should pop up. Right Click in the window and select "Add Service". Add: into the pop up box, select GWebCache and click OK. Repeat step one, but add: in the pop-up box instead. Right click on one of the newly added entry and select "Query Now". You should now begin to connect to the G2 network. If this does not work for you - post a thread with your connection type (like Dial Up, Cable, Dsl), and a mention if any text at all is in the Gnutella2 section of the Host Cache - Press F8 to check. Lost Downloads? This could work for you You must have eMule (Preferred - No Spy/Adware) installed. You must also have Donkey Doctor This is verfied to work for many people, but is not simple. Newbies might want to read extra carefully or ask for help by starting a new thread. All users should read each step through before doing anything. Copy the files in your Shareaza incomplete folder to your eMule or eDonkey incomplete folder. Be sure to clear out any other eDonkey or eMule partials before doing this, so you won't mix them up. Also, make sure you copy them, so if you mess up, you can try again. Start eDonkey/eMule, look for and start a download for every lost file, in the order they appear in your temp folder. Wait until you get at least 1 full source for every file; The progress bars should be totally blue. Close eDonkey/eMule Delete every ".part" file in the incomplete folder. Keep ".part.met" files, though! Rename each Shareaza incomplete file to their respective .part file (ie. 1.part or 001.part, then 2.part or 002.part), in the order you searched for them. Launch Donkey Doctor and makes sure the options point to the proper eDonkey/eMule folder and the Incomplete folder. Use "Test Met" to recover every file, it will update the .met Open Shareaza, go into the eDonkey2000 options and import the downloads you just repared. You should now have your downloads recovered. Solution courtesy of Justin Case Crashes and Lockups? This could help. Reduce the number of download connections - decrease the number of connections in the download section of the Shareaza settings to 35 total connections and 10 per file, 3 max files. Go to the eDonkey panel and reduce client link connections to 50.

Basic Guide To mIRC 1.Open up your mIRC client. you will see a screen like this *Note* my colors are customized. The normal background is white and the text is different also. Bear that in mind when following this tut. See the folder with the hammer in front of it? Either click that or go to the tab that says tools click it and scroll down and select options you will get the following screen 2. in that box click the add button Add the pertinant info you need depending on servers, descriptions etc. As you can see in the picture above i set it up for the station51 server. Click ok when you are done. 3. Now your back to that options screen Click on connect. you will see this 4. In the top select commands and pick join channel Enter the name of the channel you want to join click join and bobs your uncle! 5. So how do i keep joining is there an easier way of this or do i have to keep on joining etc when i log onto the server? Well the same server should come up as the last one you connected to when you used mirc last.So the only thing to do is have it auto join the channels you want. There is an options called favorites. It comes preloaded with a bunch of common channels. I always delete thes and make my own list. At anyrate If you are in a room that you want to add to your favorites go to the favorites tab and select add to favorites Note you have to be in the channel when u select add to favorites. 6. Next you will get the screen below Check mark the join connect box if your channel is password protected add the password to it otherwise leave blank. the rest will look like above. Now it should list that chan in your favourites You can do that for every channel you want to add to on every server and when you connect to the server it will open up all the channels in your favourites list that exist on that particular server.

I've got a TV Tuner in my laptop running on Media Center Edition 2005. It works perfectly fine but not as good as I thought. I know that Tivo lets you rewind something that you have not seen already and fastforward to something that you haven't seen (Except LIVE ofcourse). I though this is the way Media Center would run, it doesn't though. The way Media Center runs, is it keeps like a timeline of all of the channels you have watched and for how long. EXAMPLE: If I turn on channel 5 for twenty minutes and watch that and then switch to channel 33 for five minutes and then to channel 75 for five minutes, when I try to rewind, it just goes in backwards order of ONLY what I have watched. So when I rewind it, it would go for five minutes of 75, five minutes of 33, and then back to twenty minutes of channel 5. My question is are there any alternatives to Media Center that will let you watch TV from the coaxial cable in my capture card and actually use it like a Tivo and be able to rewind and fastforward to TV programs that I have not viewed yet?

Stupid Things You've Done While Making Or Fixing A Pc
brautigam posted a topic in General Discussion
I thought this might be interesting, a thread where you can share your *BLEEP*ups concerning hardware, as I've got a few that would cast doubt over the fact I claim to know what I'm doing. First one is the most recent one, I was repairing my mums computer, a P4 system with a minor Windows problem, which was easily fixed. So once I'd fixed the Windows problem, I decided to open up the case and see if I could do anything about the ridiculous temperature the P4 was running at. So I decided to remove the stock cooler and replace the existing TIM with some Arctic Silver 5, so I unclip the cooler, and while trying to remove it from the CPU, I end up pulling it out with the CPU still attached to the bottom. Needless to say this wasn't a good move, so I remove the CPU, replace the TIM and try to reinstall it, but nothing. So after 20 minutes wondering what the *BLEEP* had gone wrong when I pulled out the CPU, I realised I'd bent one of the pins in the process. *BLEEP*, not good. So it took me a few minutes with a precision screwdriver, needle nose pliers and a hell of a lot of very gentle pressure to bend it back into place, god only knows how it didn't snap off. Anyway, everything worked once the pin was back in place and the system works fine now. Next up would be a stupidly simple mistake, while building my brand new behemoth system back in January, I installed the CPU, heatsink and memory on the motherboard, and then installed the motherboard into the case. I then connected the power cable and everything else, but after turning it on, the power led on the motherboard came on, but nothing happened, no usual beep or anything. My first thought was that a BIOS update was needed to recognise my X2 CPU, but this wasn't the case. After maybe half an hour of wondering what was wrong, I realised what it was. I forgot about the extra 4 pin power connection the motherboard needed, which was hidden behind the heatsink/fan out of view, so I connected it up and everything worked as it should. God did I feel stupid, I now always check the simple things first when trying to find out what the problem is, as otherwise you feel like a complete fool when you realise it's something simple. I'm sure I'll think of some more stupid things I've done when working with hardware, but these 2 are the most recent ones. -
What software do the people use to make videos like these: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ etc... I have a bunch of videos but I want to edit them and add some stuff in and maybe host them on youtube or something. I also need to know how to sync music with a video...

Alright thanks guys, I read your responses and did a little research myself and decided that multitasking is important, but in a laptop especially since my old one overheated so much, cooling is the key. I am going to stick with the Intel one, and I have it customized on hp.com for $1488.94 right now. HP Pavilion dv8000t customizable Notebook PC So after all of the rebates and stuff, I end up getting a free printer, a case that I need, and all this other *BLEEP* for only $1488.94 (plus tax).

This problem never occured to me until just recently. Now this is the third time that this is happening in less than a week. Basically what happens is that the internet connection gradually starts to slow down over a period of 10 mins or so and eventually it becomes extremely slow, to the point that it becomes almost useless. At that point, a message pops up at the bottom of the screen saying "Network Connection Unplugged", eventhough everything is plugged up just fine according to my inspection. Than after 10-20 seconds, that message disappears and the internet pops back up to my normal speed. Than eventually the same "gradual slow down" thing starts to happen again, as in a regulated cycle. Than after a while this cycle stops and internet connection becomes normal for a long period of time. I have no clue what the reason for all of this is, though I do think it might be worth mentioning that my bro, whose computer is also hooked on to the network (the main connection cable is hooked up to my computer btw, and the other two comps get it through a wireless router connected to my comp naturally) recently bought a 250 gb harddrive and because of that, downloads a lot of stuff of the internet. Might this have anything to do with the problem at hand?

Another question... I have been trying to choose between an AMD (left one) processor or an Intel (right one). I have been customizing both of them to find the lowest price. If I choose an Intel, I will have the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7600 Video Card. If I choose an AMD, I will have the 128MB ATI RADEON® XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory Video Card. What will the difference be if I choose the AMD over the Intel? Is this a good idea or not? I have never had an AMD computer so I am not sure. Basically, will it effect me if I choose the AMD, I'm not doing any kind of heavy-duty work on this laptop, the most I will be doing is playing games and working on Photoshop and Microsoft Office, that kind of stuff. Will the 128mb Video Card make my gaming experience suffer, or should I get the 256mb with the Intel PC?

I just bought Halo 2 for the second time, I sold all my xbox stuff 6 months ago to prepare for 360, because there are no good games coming out till November. So I always though it was cool when those people made videos of sick kills in Halo 2 or on any console game. I have a top of the line TV with all the bells and whistles, but how do I get the video on my TV saved on the computer? I am thinking that there is something that you can plug in the VGA slot from my laptop and connect it to the VGA slot on the TV or something of that sort, but that may be the wrong way. Does anybody else know how to do this or know how I would be able to connect my computer to the TV and save videos on it? Thanks...

I am going to help my friend install Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on his Dell Inspiron 600m Laptop. Before I do this I would like to know if the laptop is even capable to run this version of Windows. Does anybody know or not if this is a good idea? Thanks...His video card is the ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 AGP (0x4C66) with 64MB memory.

So as many of you may have heard, GW Bush just vetoed a bill that would have loosened the ban on funding stem cell research involving human embryos in the US. I'm curious if this aversion to stem cell research is really that wide spread. Is it an opinion held mostly by conservatives or is it equally distributed? Should it be funded by the government? I want to know what you people think. Please don't post if you don't know what a stem cell is. Also, this is NOT a discussion of abortion... so don't even start. I think most people on these forums who know me can guess where I fall. I'm in favor of it. I feel it is an integral part of the future of biotechnology. Keeping an entire nation of scientists from doing this research is ridiculous.
