Hi Lyon2, I am just curious if you already played for real at the poker tables. If this is the case i will mention here below the mistakes that beginning players make a lot. Mistake #1: Playing too many hands When people sit down in a game, they want to play. Often, this means they even will play hands like J 4. This is a cardinal no-no. Hopefully, the articles on this site will help improve your starting hand selection. Mistake #2: Playing above your bankroll This goes without saying. Sometimes the gambling and money aspect of poker gets to people too much. They become greedy and play in games they cannot afford or games where the competition is simply too stiff. At first, stick to a consistent, lower limit. Learn how to play and beat the game before you play in higher-stakes games. Mistake #3: Becoming too emotional at the table Bad beats will happen. Losing sessions will happen. Annoying opponents will happen. Live with it and do not let your emotions sway your judgment at the table. Mistake #4: Not using pot odds If your hand needs improvement, the concept of pot odds can help you determine if you should call to see the next card on the board. Few beginning players understand pot odds, and they often call too much. This site has a section about pot odds, as well as a pot odds calculator to help you better understand this concept. Mistake #5: Using a two-color deck When most people think of cards, they think of two colors, red and black. The suits are displayed like this: Well, I have news for you. Some online poker rooms give you two display choices: the traditional two-color deck and a four-color deck. A four-color deck would have four unique colors for the four suits, like this: While this may seem unusual at first, it will make things much easier on you with time. Believe me, if you use a two-color deck, there is a good chance that you will at some point misread your hand. You might think you have a flush when in fact you do not. Using a four-color deck is a simple way to prevent yourself from making stupid mistakes. Mistake #6: Not following etiquette This is a mistake that brick and mortar beginners make. When you want to make a raise, you should not say, "I call your bet and raise you XYZ." Your initial action is considered your final action. So if you say, "I call ..." it means you just want to call. If you want to raise, say "raise" and state the amount you want to raise, if it is a no-limit game (the amount of the raise is obvious in fixed-limit games). Mistake #7: Imitating other players A lot of people learn how to play poker by playing in a similar fashion to other people. They may just imitate others at the table, or they may try to play like a professional they saw on television. This is the wrong way to go about playing poker. Many people who play poker are simply bad at it. Imitating a poorly-skilled player means copying a lot of their bad habits. Furthermore, trying to imitate what one saw on television is also a recipe for disaster. What is shown on television is almost always a tournament, and their hands are highly situational. The reasons for the professional's decision probably has little applicability to your own game. It is important to understand how to make decisions at poker. Succeeding at poker is not done through imitation; rather, it is done through understanding the complexities of the game. Mistake #8: Superstitions All gambling involves luck. While luck tends to even itself out over the long run, people naturally focus on the short run and on their fluctuations. Because gambling involves randomness, people will often blame or chalk up their luck to some random event that coincided with how they fared at a certain gambling session. This may be as innocent as believing in a lucky shirt. However, some people take these superstitions too far. They start to believe that if they constantly move seats or change their socks that they will somehow become the next WSOP winner. You cannot affect the "luck" factor of gambling. Luck evens itself out over the long run. The only thing you should concern yourself at the poker table is playing well. If you play very well at poker, you will win over the long run. If you do not play well, you will lose. It's as simple as that. Mistake #9: Overvaluing Suited Hands Having a suited hand is a plus. However, you should not play a hand just because it is suited. The first two things to consider about a starting hand are the ranks of the cards and if the cards are paired. These are by far the most important factors in the value of a hand. After this, you should consider if they are suited or connecting. A hand like A K is much, much more valuable than a hand like 10 3. A K is a top starting hand, whereas 10 3 should be thrown in the muck. This may sound obvious, but many beginners make the mistake of calling to see the flop with any two suited cards. The probability of flopping a flush or a flush draw with two suited cards is just under 12%. This is fairly low; you need other reasons to play a starting hand besides it being suited.

First of all, this is the same post you made in another topic. So how serious are you?? Sorry, i do not agree with you on this item. I play poker every day for several hours and one thing is sure: I do no waste my time!!! Most of the time i make $400-$500 dollars a day when i play. The most important key which i already mentioned in my posts is that you have a good strategy and ecxcellent discipline. So for the record, ITS NO *BLEEP*!!

Its really true that you can not make money whit this and if you will make money it be so less that its is really not the afford. The only one which will profit of this is the site where they will click on.

Hi there, firts of not everybody wins at pokerrrooms, there a lot of players who are losing money. But if you have the right strategy and discipline ( this is very import while playing poker) than you can win a lot of money at the pokerrrooms. Another thing is that when players do win it is not the pokerroom who will lose money but the other players which are at the tables. So a pokerroom is not like a casino, when you lose maney at the casino your money goes to the house and not to other players. Pokerrooms earn their money by taking a rake of the pot. You can see the rake like a fee for playing at the pokerrroom. The rake is most of the time a little percentage of the pot with a maximum of a few dollars.

My first computer?? That is so many years ago that i dont remeber how many MB or Ram the computer had. I didnt even had a monitor with colors..

Hi seastien, yes its lawful to play at online pokerrooms in the unites states. Most of the pokerrooms are USA pokerrooms. So good luck at the tables!

I totally agree with you. Partypoker.com is not a rigged site. And yes there are indeed very good players at partypoker but if you play the lower limit tables for example the $1 or $2 no limit you will find out that their are many fishes which are just playing for fun and lose a lot of money. So if you know your pot odds and you can play with discipline than you can earn a lot of money at partypoker.com. The main keys are patience and discipline. If you know that you cannot win the pot than get out of it. The last hing i will mention is that you must never bluff at the lower limits because there will be players who will call you and win the pot with low pair.

I also think that this is one of the thousands scams on the internet..... Something like FREE Money does not exist otherwise everybody will do this!

Hi there, first of all thank you for all your replies and advice. I made my choice now about which forex site i will use. I will start just with 1500 dollars and will look how it will be going. If everything goes well and if they will pay my winnings i want to use an automated trading system.Does anyone here already used an auomated trading system? I know such a system will cost me a lot of dollars and i am looking for one between 500 and 1000 dollars. Hi, PartyPoker.com is indeed a really nice pokerroom. It is the geratest online pokerroom with more than 70,000 members. Its also a very fishy site that means that their are really bad players. So if you want to make easy money with playing poker than this is the site for you. Good luck everybody

A poker odds calculator is a good tool to improve your play, but it does not mean that you will win every time. I use to play with no calculator because every player at the table is diffrent. For example if you are pretty sure that one player at the table is bluffing but your odds calculater says that you have to fold than you will lose your money instead of winning the pot. So i try to read the people more than just looking at my odds. But for beginning players it is a nice way to improve your game.And arcalypse, using a poker odds calculator is not be considred as cheating because you can not see other players cards or anything else.

I know what the risks are with forex trading, i would never put money in it that i need for something else, just the extras. I studied Financial Economics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and i also have a master in financial law so i already know a lot about forex trading. Hi Lyon2,Look out because poker is a really addictive game.. and indeed its very scary! Do you play limit holdem or no limit holdem? I ask you this because there is a big difference between this two games for your strategy. One of the most important things about limit holdem is that you must never bluff because your opponent will call very easy. In a no limit game you can scary your opponent out of the pot by a big rbet or raise.And did you already found some good ebooks about poker? Hi there,Lyon2, Yes i know the poker pro 2006 you mention but i dont use any software to play poker i only play on my feeling. Do you already know playing the odds?? You also have to learn that if you have a really good strating hand and you have a feeling that you will lose than fold your cards. I now it is difficult sometimes but it will pay you off.If you want some nice ebooks than search on google for the ebooks but look out, not all the ebooks are as good as they say. The thing you can do is searching on google for poker stategy. You will find what the best starting hands are and a few startegies. Do you knoe check-raise? If you are certain that you will win the hand than check the first time by hoping that somebody is going to bet and than you will raise so he other pokerplayer will call you. Thats one good strategy to higher the pot.Another very important thing in poker is the position at the table. You have the early psotion, the middle position and the late position. You already knew,I suppose, that when you are in late position you will have more information about the other players than in first position. So hereby you can play much more hands in late postion than in the early postion.The last thing i will mention is that the most beginning poker players make the mistake to play to many hands and that will cost you a lot of money. I see the flop only with an average of 35%. If you really want to make money on the stockmarket in really short time than use an automated trading software!! That will work better and i think you will get less risk. If you are looking for a automated trading software, just search in google! The software is not free!
