  1. 75% German25% Iroquois (Native American)My ancestors (on my mother's side) came over to America back in the 1830's, originally in the Ithaca, NY area. My mother has always told us that we get our temper from the German side and our fearlessness from the Iroquois side. Se also says we can barely grow any facial hair because of the Iroquois blood. Our family also tends to live a long time, usually well into the 90's or more and we age slowly. My mother is 63 and yet people believe she is still in her late 40's.On my father's side, they came to America from Germany somewhere in the 1790's. When my grandmother was alive she did most of the geneology work and I have been carrying on the tradition of recording the family history. Some of my ancestors have made an impact on the world but, so far, no one has within the last two generations. A pity, I guess...
  2. Living in an orphanage, children's home or foster home is not a glamorous existance. As a child I spent 6 years as a ward of the state, from age 11 to 17, then I was dumped out on the streets to fend for myself after graduating HS. Being in fostercare is miserable, especially when being moved from one to another, to another. There is no permanence of residence, no love, few friends (if any) and people tend to see you as a reject. When pulled out of your home and placed in the states care you feel like an outcast. When young enough you feel that nobody wants you. What else can you think when your own parent got rid of you. It's an isolated life and they do not prepare you for the real world, they just drop you into it.Also, you find all kinds of "psycho" people in the fostercare world. It doesn't matter whether you are male or female, your chances of being "molested" are a lot greater being a ward of the state than being with your family. As people are in a position of power over the kids, it gives them great opportunity to take advantage of you. And after such an event occurs, you are driven by fear and don't report it.These are things I have experienced firsthand while in the state's care and knew many others that shared such horrific experiences, some worse than others. I've known kids who took their own lives after a while, other's that were raped and some that went on to live a criminal life.Trust me, it's no picnic being in such a place...
  3. It's funny how I never knew thgat Silent Hill was a game until after I seen the movie. I suppose I don't get out much. I liked the movie and it would be cool if they make a sequel to it.
  4. Favorite drink? That's an easy one... RUM!!!If that's not available or if I want to save a little then I'd get the cheapest bottle of vodka I can find. It's strange how a fifth of vodka or rum always seems to disappear in about 2 hrs... I can never figure that out (I can never remember in the morning anyway...)
  5. Yeah, lotsa space dust out there... but if you're religious, would you say it's really angel dust? LoLAnyway, my theory on a propulsion system is there are several aliens sitting around with tubes up their rears and each are eating out of a large can of beans. That is why the space ships are always glowing... all that gas developing around it.
  6. Many years ago I came up with a "pick-up line" but never used it. To me, it sounds a bit lame. It is:"If I give you my number, will you call me?"If her response is "no" (which is practically guaranteed) then your response is:"Okay, then you'd better give me yours..."
  7. It seems the major problem with laptops is the video. If the problem lies in the laptop not being able to run high-end games then I'd go with a new laptop with an upgradable video adapter AND more memory. Extra memory always helps unless the laptop has a weak video adapter.
  8. Muhammad did not write the qur'an as he was illiterate. The qur'an was written down by many different people and was compiled many years after his death into a book. Also, muslims claim that the Bible is corrupt and cannot be trusted... so then why do you use a book thought by muslims to be corrupt to defend your position? That is like using lies to establish a truth. Can you establish this belief with documentation or is it, as you say, your belief or opinion. You should read "Prophet of Doom" and "the Case for Christ" if you wish for documentation. You actually believe that? If that were the case then that would be to deny the prophets of old. Even muslims rever the patriarchs. But if they prophecized and the events did not occur then they are not prophets but liars. If this is to be believed then it all comes back to islam being built upon lies. Even though most muslims deny it, there are different versions of the qur'an (not translations but versions, there is a difference). Muslims always say there are different versions of the Bible but they are looking at the different translations. I think this post is long enough for now so I'll end it here...
  9. Lately, I've been playing "Rome: Total War" and noticed something about the family tree. The males in the game "come of age" at 16 and the females usually marry between 12 and 14. I guess the programmers of the game wanted it to be as close to reality (as it was in those days) as possible. The marriages are usually arranged by the AI and one of the biggest spreads in age I've noticed was 33 and 14 at the time of marriage. While taking the above in consideration (though it is from a game based on history) the best way to determine whether one is ready for a sexual relationship is to take a look at your culture to determine whether such is approved of or not. Everything seems to be relative. If you are living in 270 BC Rome then everything is just fine and dandy. If you are living in 21st century ______ (fill in the blank) and the culture says 18 then wait. Do a little research before diving under the covers. Depending on the circumstances there may be repercussions that you'd rather not have to deal with...
  10. Last year, I even did the SurfJunky thing. I waited and waited and waited for my payment and it never came. I was even up over $95 and finally gave up on them. Eventually, after repeatedly inquiring what the hold-up was they decided to terminate my account. It's hard to believe this site is still operating and everyone knows they are scamming people. I was always led to believe wire fraud was a crime but I guess not in this case. Apparently, their TOS is above the law and they can scam people out of tons of cash whenever they feel like it. I recommend staying away from websites that tells you they can terminate your account for whatever reason they want to or for no reason at all. That is a clue that they will keep everything you work so hard to earn.
  11. I read the article as well as every post on this topic. Many people are going off about how this "poor girl was raped" and yet it does not say that in the article. The only thing it says is the incident is being investigated for the possibility of her being raped. Without evidence or any facts how can you reach a conclusion. I prefer to think people are innocent until proven guilty, of course, it appears many people think the opposite. We cannot determine all the circumstances leading up to this girl becoming pregnant from the article. I do agree that 9 is too young to give birth simply because the body is not mature enough to handle a pregnancy as well as being to emotional immature to handle the responsibility of caring for offspring. Other than that, I cannot say whether or not a rape occurred without any evidence. A pregnancy of a minor is not proof that a rape occurred. In some cultures, it is natural for girls to have sexual relations after the first menstruation, so we cannot impress our culture upon them and reach unfounded conclusions (even though Western cultures have done this hundreds of times in the past). Some cultures believe that the consumption of alcohol is wrong and forbidden. Those that believe this too... do you think if someone drinks until they were so drunk they pass out in their yard should be shot or locked away in a mental institution? Before you object to that, some people do believe that. For those of you who are wondering, the infant weighed 4.9 lbs and is in good health.
  12. I guess the simplest way of putting it is if you are not for God then you are obviously against Him. If God really does exist and you deny Him you will surely see H*ll... is it really worth d*mnation if you are wrong? I've studied facts that are backed up by evidence for way too long to believe that once you die, that's it, you no longer exist. And yes, there was a time when I was a non-believer but that time is past. One thing that is interesting is if there is no life after death and once you die you forever blink out of existence then it is very difficult to explain EVP's (electronic voice phenomenom) which I have actually recorded before. Now the fun part... trying to explain it from a godless scientific viewpoint...
  13. One thing I cannot believe is how do they know bones found in the earth are "millions" of years old? The way they date the bones is by the strata they are found in. Okay, how do they date the strata? They date the strata by the fossils it contains. This is circular reasoning and very unscientific. That's like saying, "I know a train came by here because I can see its tracks... and the tracks proves a train just went by." Without observing an event you can only believe something on faith alone, just like the theory of evolution. No one has ever observed one species changing into another. Everything is based upon suppositions, guesses and faith that something is without anything to base the belief upon. Evolution is simply another of the many religions as without faith it cannot be believed.
  14. I find it interesting how many people with professed evolutionist/darwinist beliefs actually have morality issues and hang-ups that are based upon religious ideology regarding sex. To hear someone suggest one should refrain from sexual intercourse (or any sexual interaction) before marriage when they also believe that evolution is a fact of life is a conflict of belief systems. Marriage began as a God-ordained union between a man and woman and the first mention of marriage is found in the beginning of Genesis. When viewing sex from an evolutionary standpoint, age is completely irrelevant. The only thing that is of relevance is propagation of the species. Morality has no place in evolution/darwinism; its place lies in religious concepts/dogmas. If a human is capable of reproduction then propagating the species to insure its survival is paramount no matter what chronological age the human may be.Of course, if we observe various animal species we will also find them engaging in sexual play even before they are capable of reproduction. One good example is dogs. I have observed my own puppy humping pillows, stuffed animals and my other pets when it was only 3 months old. He's now about 6 moths old and he's still doing it though he is not capable of reproducing his own kind yet.Humans are no different. If we accept evolution as fact instead of simply a belief, then to deny the sexual instincts of the human animal, no matter what its chronological age, is contrary to nature. To believe in both evolution and religious ideologies is a conflict and cannot be reconciled with each other. Remember, if dinosaurs existed millions of years ago before man then that would mean death before sin and you destroy the entire Bible. There would no longer be any original sin that occurred in the Garden of Eden. Without the original sin there would be no messiah to take away the sins of the world. Without morality and the sense of right and wrong based upon the teachings of the Bible then sex at any age is no problem. If you believe evolution is nothing more than a fairy tale (as I do) then you can base whether or not you are prepared for a sexual relationship based upon Biblical teachings. It all depends on your perspective; are you looking at it from a Biblical or evolutionary standpoint? I am not going to answer this question as I believe if you take the time to analyze where you stand on this issue then you will be able to answer it yourself. And when in doubt, don't act. To base a decision on nothing and to act upon it may create more problems than it solves.
  15. Speaking of short poems, here is one that you might find interesting. It does convey a lot of meaning though it is only composed of three words...Hired.Tired?Fired!Here is a short poem that I wrote more than a quarter century ago when I had nothing better to do...Lonely highway,Going my way,My thumb is out,Crap! I've got the gout!
