New Extension For Firefox! apart from google toolbar
FirefoxRocks replied to mayank's topic in Search Engines
I think the Google Safe Browsing extension is an EXCELLENT idea. Although I have not encountered any phishing websites at the time, people who do online banking, etc. may find this extension to be quite useful. Please see my Download.com review of Google Safe Browsing extension for Firefox. -

Is It True Or Hoax Gmail Service Shutting Down? donotreply@gmail.com
FirefoxRocks replied to brainet's topic in The Internet
Okay, first of all: It is a HOAX! A PHISHING SCAMMING email!Use a POP3 Email Client to recieve Gmail. I use Mozilla Thunderbird.POP3 server is pop.gmail.com.Install the Sender Verification Extension on Thunderbird, also the GMail Functions or whatever it is called. This improves security and also detects a lot of phishing emails.Don't believe any of this junk. Google servers are extremely secure.I get emails just like that from eBay, PayPal, Comerica, CitiBank, ScotiaBank and Bank of America. I only use PayPal, and those are FAKE emails.Be careful, you don't want to loose any accounts, etc. -
Google Toolbar for Firefox is not as useful as Google Toolbar for IE. It doesn't have PageRank features.Firefox already includes the Google search engine, unless you require use of it very frequently, I don't recommend installing the toolbar.To clear Recent Searches, <- snipped -> logo and look for [Clear Search History]Hope this helps!}

The problem with translators:1} Words can have different definitions. The translator doesn't know what one. This problem mostly occurs with French, Chinese and German.2} Sentences might not make sense. Translators use direct, literal translation, word-by-word. Better translators might be able to make some sense out of sentences.I sometimes Google Translator and often BabelFish by AltaVista. It doesn't mess me up that much.

I think the article is completely wrong.First of all, I don't even understand "bad ad-matching", I mean AdBlock on Firefox can block Google Ads. Who cares?Secondly, personal info can be searched out in profiles such as MySpace, Bebo, hi5, Yahoo! 360, Blogger and a lot of other sites. Name, address, phone number, postal/ZIP code can be searched in phone book listings. So that is available anyways.Google will take over the world's information system someday, and no-one will go against it.

Iframes a small question about it
FirefoxRocks replied to shadowdemon's topic in Web Hosting Support
You really shouldn't use <iframe src="url" width="#px" height="#px" />.Instead you should use <div src="url" style="width:#px;height:#px" />. This way it will appear better and be a part of XHTML 1.0 Strict and XHTML 1.1. Recommended by the W3C! Notice from mayank: Please note that you need to put the coding in between the code tags. -
Internet Explorer 7 reviews of IE 7 and its Betas
FirefoxRocks replied to haron's topic in The Internet
I prefer Mozilla Firefox as my best browser. Although I don't mind Opera, Netscape, Mozilla, SeaMonkey. I use Avant and Maxthon to play games and Amaya to design webpages. I don't like IE at all.Does anyone here know how to run IE 6 and IE 7 independantly? If you want, I can tell you. -
Google Web Accelerator Speed up the web
FirefoxRocks replied to sharpz's topic in Science and Technology
I used to use Google Web Accelerator. My total accelerated Internet loading time was 1.2 days. It saved me a total of 1.2 days loading time for pages. But after reformatting my hard drive, I decided it wasn't required. So now I don't use it.Get Firefox and try it out if you like. -
I use W3.org to help me validate my website so that it can be displayed in most Internet browsers properly (although you might want to look at my Vent post). w3schools.com is related to w3.org. It teaches you abotu Web development such as HTML and XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and many others such as XML. I think they are both great. Thier founder is Tim Berners-Lee, the founder of the Internet. Remember to validate websites at http://validator.w3.org/.

Leaving Your Computer On? - is this good for it?
FirefoxRocks replied to nickmealey's topic in Software
I leave my computer on every other day.Electricity bills, you don't need to worry about that a lot.If you use CRT monitors, turn them off! If you use LCD monitors, it is also a good idea to turn them off also. Other accessories and hardware include speakers, printers, scanners, modems, etc. Those should be turned off as well.Ensure the room is open, don't block the fan and turn on air circulation if necessary.Don't leave yoru computer on during thunderstorms, etc. Power outages will damage the computer.Antispyware, disk maintenance programs, virus scanners can work at night.I leave my computer on for scientists at [Folding@Home]. It performs calculations to cure diseases, etc. Maybe this might help one of you later on. Who knows? If you leave your computer on, install F@H. It helps!Remember to restart your computer every so often! -
I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!!!!!I HAVE VALIDATED MY WEBSITES WITH THE W3C VALIDATOR AND THEY DON'T WORK IN IE/AVANT!They work fine in Firefox and other netscape-browsers including opera. But not IE and Maxthon!!!!!!!!I am going completely crazy with making 85% of the web view my pages properly.Valid CSS/XHTML/HTML/JavaScript with optimized connections and IE cannot display the webpage. Gosh!
