I have another question. Regarding a hosting account, if I had more than one client, would it be possible to have one hosting site but have more than one clients web pages on them. I don't know if that question can be answered or if that is a 'depends on the host service' kinda thing. I was just wondering if I were to get into this if I were going to have to go and find a bunch of different hosts to do it.

I was thinking of possible starting a small out-of-the-home thing of making web pages for people to bring in a little extra income. I had a couple of questions that I was wondering if anyone could answer though. -Would I have to find a host site for the client or would it be thier job? -Where do people find backgrounds for Web Pages? -If a client gets a web page done by me, I should offer to maintain it, if it is a business site correct? -Would I need a site to show what I can do (I was planning to use my Xisto acct. for a game I want to make)?I can't think of anymore questions right now. It's a thought I've had lingering around before, but it really popped into my head as I was trying to sleep last night. So, I thought I'd ask about it here.

I called a repair place just for some advice. They suggested I bring it in of course, but they also said it sounds like a memory issue. My question to put out is, would that be a RAM chip, Flash ROM, or something like a L1 cache memory thing. Any clues out there? And how expensive is it to replace something like that?

I started using Firefox yesterday and got about 20 pop-ups. I never got that many on IE. I figured I've heard so many good things about FF I'd give it a try, but I'm seriously considering going back to IE. Is there a way to to change the pop-up configuration settings that I haven't seen. I did a spybot scan and had to fix a bunch of things last night, almost never anything when I use IE, so right now I am highly disappointed with FF.

Wow that's an impressive tutorial. My mind can only work itself as far as a text based game. I've done alot of writing to that one, but I must admit, I am in quite a rush to start work on it. I am the only one doing it so I know it will take some time. It was very interesting to see what really goes into making a game. I've thought about a career in game design before, but I don't think I could spend that much time on one project without seeing any results. I'm the kinda person who likes the satisfaction of seeing what I've done.

I think the next big thing that will come out of the gaming industry is virtual reality in its simplist form. You have to look at it this way. Way back when we started off with what, an atari or something like it. Slowly through the years storylines got better, then graphics. It took some time. I don't expect anything big from VR for sometime and I will probably have artritis by the time it looks anywhere near decent so I'm not even going to enjoy that notion.

I don't know alot about databases so I didn't know it wasn't posible to put pictures in. I will figure things out when I start reading about it. I'm getting my original computer back on Tuesday hopefully, so I can download what I need, such as WAMP and things, to get started. But as of yet, I still haven't recieved my confomation Email from Xisto (problems with AOL or something). But the computer I'm on now I think either has a bad power supply or motherboard issues. It keeps shutting itself down, not hibernation mode. But none-the-less I should be getting my computer back on tuesday.

XIII, when I start learning PHP I will check out that site more. It looks like it could be of some help to me, having people doing the same things and possibly getting some feedback. Thats why I like this place too. If I run into any problems, I can always ask. Being new to programming, it's hard when something doesn't go right and I just cant figure it out. So its always good to have someone elses point of view on things sometimes.

O.K., being a programming moron here. Is MySQL or PostgreSQL something I would have to download to use? I haven't even attempted as of yet to get to the database part of looking at things, so I haven't looked into it. I'm starting slowly right now, wanting to get my background in place and trying to work on the CSS, but for some reason when I went to do the CSS on the geocities page it wouldn't work. Maybe I'm not allowed to there, but I did it exactly as it said to do on two different tutorials so I was getting pretty ticked and just decided to take a break.

I've never used anything other than IE. I've only heard of Firefox and Opera, not knowing much about them. I don't know advantages to disadvantages. I've never seemed to have a problem with IE, but from what it sounds like there is alot of spyware involved. What else is wrong with IE that I should know about? If I am going to switch from such a familiar browser, I at least want to know why I am switching. Firefox does seem to be the way everyone is going, so if I do switch I would use that. What does Firefox have thats so special?

I've been approved for my webpage (yeah) but am waiting for my confermation email, aol stinks. Anyway, I've been working on an idea for a text based game now for some time on paper. It would be in real time days=days hours=hours kinda thing, needing some databases with pictures. I would want a place where there could be some kind of forum or something like it.My question is, what languages would I need to know to do this kinda stuff? I've got the HTML down pretty well. I have to download that WAMP thing so I can learn PHP. I'm pretty sure I'll need to learn that and MySQL. But is there anything else or should I not be learning those at all?

I noticed that I've just been approved for hosting and to check my email for activation information. I checked my mail but its not there. I looked again at the information I gave you and my email address is right and my spam folder is empty too so it didn't get sent there. Did it get delayed?

I just installed Diskeeper Lite about a week or so ago, and one feature i like about it is it just popped up one day and told me the number of files that were fragmented and said that I should defragment my computer. Hey if I can defrag so it will be quick then I'll do it when it says.

I started to learn HTML from the HTMLGoodies site that was mentioned. Started writing some pages in notepad and learned that way and I'm doing rather well I think. I tried some of those free WYSIWYG programs because I thought it would help me out, but I didn't like it at all, I wasn't learning what I needed to. I'm on my way to learn CSS, now so thank you for the web site Twitch, then on to PHP. I've read what others have said on how to learn but I have my appoach, good or bad as it may be. After PHP, I am going to learn about MySQL.

Thanks Twitch, that helped me out! I have more problems trying to search for stuff because things get seperated or something. Even in the advanced search option it only gives you one field to work in and if you have more than one thing to look for your in trouble, so that really helped.

Speaking of CSS, I don't know if its just the geocities webpage that wont let me do it or if I'm doing it wrong, but I just cant get it right. I'm doing it just as the tutorial says and I'm getting so frustrated. Let me see if I have one thing clear. You put the style sheet on a seperate page from the working page and just put a link to it right?

I know nothing of graphical games but I am slowly trying to make my own text base MMOPG TV station managment game. I need to learn database, but I am learning PHP and picked up HTML very easily. It will involve alot of work for me, but in the end it will be worth it.

This is a question I've been facing as of late also. I love computers but am unsure of what direction to go in. I once thought it was all about the money, but now as long as I am doing anything with computers I will be happy. I just have to decide between programming and repair. My dream when I was a little younger was to open my own repair place, so that's where I am leaning. But there is still a little toss up there. I love to code things too. I will have to do a little soul searching I think.

No its not in hibernate mode. It will be running fine then all of a sudden it will shut itself down. If you leave it plugged in it will turn itself back on again. Like I've said, I've done virus scans and come up with nothing so I really don't know what to do.

Sounds like a game i'd have to check out. I love text games. I play a MMOPG text game now that I play faithfully everyday and I'm a top 20 company. I find the strategy of text to be more exciting sometimes then the flash of graphical games. Don't get me wrong, I love my video games, but I still enjoy a good text game too.

My PC turns itself on and off and I cant figure out why. I've done virus scans, ad-ware and spy-ware scans and nothing there has turned up. So it must be something hardware. I'm thinking it is the power supply or maybe the motherboard. But my question is how do I determine exactly what the problem is. Do I really have to take it somewhere or does anyone have any suggestions of something I can try before I have to spend some money that I really don't have.
