I like to install BOINC wherever I can, after all on most home and corporate computer most of the CPU power goes to waste since typically tasks only use a faction. Some are concerned about their systems getting used up faster, but I think this is not an issue - you'll exchange the CPU before it malfunctions, anyway, in all likeliness, and the enhanced power consumption is marginal - the disk drives and monitors will consume much more than a processor on a full load.
