1. The guys who actually run the computers that allow people to predict the weather are called meteorlogists. There is a science to their study. But the fact remains, we can not predict nature, even with the mathematical tools we have today. The Chaos Theory (or one part of it) dictates that even the smallest amount of change can have big ramifications for other things. That means that until we study how this theory affects us, we will end up having problem predicting weather.

  2. Democracy is probably the best type of government we have thought of at the moment. As much as it may have it's bad points, most other governments are a hell of a lot more worse then democracy. If you really have any issue about your government, use your free speech. Join a political party, hold protests, talk to your representative, that sort of thing. Really, be involved with your government, rather then just sit and complain.

  3. Because it broadens our scientific knowledge of the world. That's the basic reason we go to space, because naturally in our hearts, we are explorers, curious about things we don't know about. Think about it. As for the money aspect, the wealth of infomation that the space programs send back is huge. Quite a bit of the technology that we now use and take for granted were developed as a result of the space programs. Such technology are included in the fields of aviation, sciences, computers, medicine, automotive technology. I could go on about this for hours, but I don't think we have the time for that.Medicine in particular, I want to bring into focus. In space, there is no gravitiy, so that allow scientists to be able to research many aspects of medicine, without interference from gravity. So the next time you hear space mission, don't think of astonaunts bouncing around, fixing things. Scientific research is being conducted.

  4. No, I have a gut feeling it might be a scam.Basicaly, I wouldn't trust anyone with your money, what I could not see and can not get business details. Too risky to lose your money. In fact, Today Tonight (an Australian current affairs show) had a program on about it and was saying that we are too gulliable to these kinds of things, and that made perfect ground for scams and all the rest of them.So basically, don't! It's probably a scam.

  5. I think the moon is being used for a test bed for technology, just to make sure there are no problems with the rockets, because such rockets are expensive, and will become an issue is one of them happens to blow up.If we establish a Space station capable of lauching rockets, it will be a lot more cheaper to send rockets, since you save money on expensive rockets needed to launch past gravity.

  6. Firefox 1.5 is blocking advertisments on all sites. How can I stop this? I can't view or click them on Xisto, or elsewhere. How can I stop Firefox from blocking the ads?

Something should pop up saying that Firefox has blocked something. There should be a button saying editing options. Click it and go down to the last option, and that should show the pop up you need

Just as a curiosity thing, why do you need to see the pop up in the first place?

  7. My $.02,

No one browser is more or less secure than any other. The difference comes down to user base, notice as FF has risen in usage it is being targeted a little more. If thier was an advantage to Opera and FF over IE it's a lack of activeX, which in the wrong hands can really cause problems.

Personally I Prefer FF to opera, user interface preference, however I suggest netscape 8  for most of my less tech savvy friends. Netscape 8 is a nice blend of IE and FF.

The main reason I don't use IE is not security, it is the lack of web related compliance.

    Cheers all.

I agree, you can not believe the collective stupidiy of idiots. That is one of my borther's sayings.

  8. That would be really cool to have someone else get on the moon.  Have we even sent anyone since the first moon landing?

    210941

The Americans went up to Apollo 17, if I remmeber right. Apollo 13 had some issues and could not land on the moon. Each rocket has 3 crew. Apollo 11 was the first lunar landing, so that adds up to 6 flights. Times that by 3 crew and you get 18 people who have walked the moon.

The Chinese attempt is an interesting one, and one we all should keep track on.

  9. I think we know that racism is (I hope)We are all gonna have issues with racism, until we figure out a way to destory hate, which is a fundamental problem in humans today. Hate causes, wars, poverty, injustice, as well as racism. How to do it. Well that beats me, I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

  10. uh i have the microsoft anti-spyware. it's okay but it doesnt really get everything. i have ZoneAlarm.

and limewire is good. you just have to watch what you download.

    209405

Microsoft anti-spyware only gets spyware, whick is basically programs that tramsmit infomation back into a 'mother' server which then affects your computer. The effects can be different, depending on this type of spyware.

Zonealarm is a firewall, it blocks ports or 'entry points' to your computer to the internet. It may or may not help you if you need up getting a virus anyway.

  11. Well.. Now if the little girl had no problem doing it... then I don't think anyone can blame them or anything.

But if she was forced .. then she can use her GIRL POWER!! The power of YELLING! :P

But here, it seems both are accepting the relation, so nothing can be said and there is no law which forbids a teacher to have sex with his student.

Actually there is in some countries. In Victoria where I leave, it is illegal to have sex with students unless they are over 18. You need to review the laws in your country and/or state to get a 100 percent sure guess.
