  1. Thanks for the information. I am learning more on this forum about Gmail that I never knew before. I do not believe that I will be answering my email in a public place. However one way to prevent people from getting into your email is to be sure and sign out each and every session. This can prevent a lot of problems. If there is a problem with gmail like someone getting into it be sure and report it to gmail. There is also a Federal Agency in the USA to report mail fraud. Other countries have similar agencies so it is wise to contact your countries goverment too to let them know what is going on. I really do not see how the https:// connection would help if you are using a public connection anymore than using http: and signing out. The most important thing is to sign out. Then go to tools in the browser or how ever the particular browser of your ISP of the computer you are using and get rid of the search history and cookies. Never click on the remember my password at a public computer. Remember to always clean out the browsing history, etc. and cookies after each session. That really is the best protection.
  2. Oh by the way, gmail has a limit on how much email you can send out in one day. At least, that is the information on this site:http://www.labnol.org/internet/email/gmail-daily-limit-sending-bulk-email/2191/ I am not happy with that. But I do not do a lot of mass mailings. EKKKK! Gmail has a lot of rules on this site for shutting down your account. Here's one:Rule 4: This is slightly unrelated but still important - Google will disable your Gmail account permanently if you donĂ¢t check your Gmail email for a period of nine months. All the stored messages will be deleted and you Gmail address (user name) may be released for others to grab it. I guess if you get stuck in the hospital then you will have to have a laptop or something like that. I was incapacitated for nearly a year at one time. OOOOps
  3. Hey thanks for the heads up on this! Actually there seems to be two address possibilities now. I just use my old gmail.com though. But guess what I found out! Gmail whatever has free alias ad-ons and free pop mail. Well I do not use pop mail I prefer web mail. I do not like to clutter things up. Web mail you can use anywhere too. This is a site that has a lot of information about gmail etc.:http://www.labnol.org/internet/email/gmail-email-alias-two-separate-gmail-address/ I did not know that you could create another address in Gmail to have your email forwarded to but evidently you can. I am going to try that for business.
  4. Well I love gmail. However you get a lot of other stuff with Google. You should try out Google Chrome too. It is the browser that Google has. There are other provisions when you sign up with a Google account that you may like. One is free storage for pictures. I find that particularly useful because I do not want to use up my disk space. I have unlimited storage with my Yahoo email account. However Google has a lot of storage too. I find it handy to have more than one email account. Gmail is free. That is one thing to take into account. You also get free blog space with a Google account. That is something to think about. Try it out for yourself. That is the only way you will be able to tell. People have different ideas of what they want.
  5. I have not tried this as of yet. I have downloaded the new chat functionality though. Google has really come up in the world. I have Google Chrome and really like it. It is much better and faster than IE. However, I think that there is some conflict between the two browsers that I am going to have to check out. How is this security wise though. I think that the internet is getting to invasive. This would be great like for local friends and for family, esp. those overseas but I would be shy about video with someone I hardly know.
  6. Okay they have suggested Photoshop. There are other alternatives that are free. For instant just load up your image to paint which comes on all computers with MS Software. There you can just simply erase the background. You can also go to:http://www.iomx.com/ and see if there is anything there to help you. I also think that Animation Factory, which is free online, has a simple onlne software that all you have to do is point to the background of the picture and it will take away that particular portion where it is see through or you can add what ever you want. You can also try to find online freeware that will let you remove the pictures' backgrounds by puting in the search box of your browser the following:free online software to remove the background in pictures. I did and this is what I came up with:http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=free+online+software+to+remove+the+background+in+pictures&ei=UTF-8&nojs=1= I have successfully removed the background with little effort from many pictures then added a different background using free software. You might also try Microsoft Gif Animator which is free and can be downloaded from the internet. It will take the background out of several pictures or just one. But they have to be in gif format for this particular software.
