  1. I've been with Xisto for about 9 or so months now and I am extremely happy with it!It started off a little bumpy, if anyone can remember my little problem I had with. And a few days ago it was also a little bumpy, it was dying every five minutes and MySQL kept crashing. But apart from all that it's been great!Anyway, I think for free hosting, this is the best you will ever find! 500 mb space, 10 gb bandwidth, and what really pleases me is cPanel (it would be nicer with the normal cPanel theme though or the newest RV Theme :)) and all the other features it has.The forum is also a great place to be on! At first I wasn't too sure about having to post on a forum for hosting, but now I'm glas you have to! I've learned so much from the forum and I've been having a great time here! Posting here is great!Unfortunately... I have come to the decision that when I get back from the Gold Coast (in Queensland, Australia) that I'm buying hosting. I will still come on occasionally if I need any tech help but that's about it :)

  2. Lately I've been having heaps of problems with the server. MySQL is always dying on me and things take so long to load and sometimes won't load. Ever since I opened my site a few days ago its been dying every like ten minutes. Along with me, the people that go on my site find it quite annoying. After my site comes back up it still takes a few minutes for the database to work again. I use Joomla so I can't even see my site without the database working!

  3. First of all, don't double post, edit your other one!Anyway, I'm good with Joomla.Menus. Menus basically are the things that get everything working, you set the page layout with them. You need to first make a menu and then set the module (it makes a module for you) to the position you want it in (defined in the templateDetails.xml file). They need to be published and visible too.Making pages is what the sections and categories are for, along with menus to lay them out and go to them. Create a section first (like news or something) and then create a category inside it. The content goes in the category. With the menu item for the page, choose the layout (probably category blog layout) and choose the category. You can also just show an article! There's a component and plugin to link pages to another page, it's called Linkr. Find it in the Joomla Extensions Directory (https://extensions.joomla.org/) and download it. Install it and then when you're writing an article there will be a button down the bottom to link to other articles!Hope this helps, just ask if you need anymore help!

  4. Can we see it? Its a bit pointless just telling us that you've "made" it, there's a few things wrongbwith that bit.You live down in Tasmania about 2 and a half hours away from me, not anywhere near the USA. You don't know HTML, let alone JavaScript.Anyway, I'm not going to trust you that it works until I've seen it from YOU. And about the love calculator things, they've really stuffed up alot of peoples love life because they are gullible enough to believe them!

  5. I have an account but I don't use it much.I have to say it's probably the best free email provider you'll find! I love the design, best spam filter ever and unlimited space! I've always liked Yahoo mail, I just never use it! I also like the chat thing, way better than the Gmail one too!I might start using it a bit more, I get loads of spam on what I use now!

  6. Well, I was told on another forum that I could host my own ShoutCast server on a host if I have Shell Access. I know that I can just host it on my computer but I don't want it on all day.I've been looking into buying hosting somewhere (which has SSH) and I also need to have a radio on my site. Then this person conveniently mentions that you can have it on a host with SSH.So basically, how do I go about it, I don't know anything about SSH and I can't do anything yet because Xisto doesn't have SSH. Is there anything I need and how do I put ShoutCast on a server with it?Thanks!

  7. I've known about this for ages, I have the exploit on my computer somewhere... Never gotten anywhere with it because of the hashes.I try to warn people that I know use it and are going to use it about the exploit and some people don't seem to care and winge when their news gets hacked! I've stopped a few people from using it.The whole thing basically started a while back, Habbo fansites all use Cutenews (except mine, I use Joomla) and there was a Habbo hating group that didn't want fansites anymore so they hack them that use Cutenews!

  8. Woah, why bother?Yeah it'd be cool but is it really needed? I'd rather just go buy a Mac for a few thousand dollars to be honest! Oh and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection 3! Give me them and I'll be fine!It seems to me that it would be a fast computer and run fairly well! Why it needs Vista and XP I don't know but anyway...Oh and saint-michael, surely you'd have at least something to day about it? Lol.

  9. I dont think Limewire should've been sued for anything!Limewire is a peer to peer networking program, just like alot of other. Limewire just happens to mainly be used for and most popular for illegal downloading of copyright songs. It's the people that use it that needs action taken against them (although I use it *shifty*).In Australia, ISPs have to report people they catch using Limewire I believe, after some amount of offences, you lose your phone line and internet connection.Although then again we are talking about America! If it were made here in Australia then I don't know what ARIA (I suppose it would be them) would do about it and if they would sue or not!

  10. Is it just on Xisto - Web Hosting or Xisto too?eAccelerator sounds nice, hopefully I can say "Thanks Shree, WOAH logging into Joomla was fast!" LOLAlthough I'm not sure about open_basedir, I'm not the one for PHP, still learning PHP and all, except using Joomla I gather I'll be fine, and when I get my MyBB forum up I assume it'll be fine too! Except by the time I get the forum up I don't know if I'll still be here, looking into hosting from a certain company!Anyway, as long as open_basedir doesn't affect me at all, nice move ;)

  11. Google isn't a noob site like yours, they are a professional site who don't need to.They change their "layout" slightly ever so often, if you've noticed they added the bar up the top recently and gotten rid of the links above the search box.The features, yes, we do, they release BETA versions of new features in Google labs and things like that. I suggest you press the "more" link to have a look. This thread seems a bit stupid imo.

  12. Pitty it was down when I was trying to work on my site!At first I couldn't get on Xisto, the I couldn't get on sites hosted here. For some reason later I could get on some sites hosted here (but of course not mine :l).Later on I could get on my site and everything except Xisto. All I got was an IPS Driver Error (I'm assuming Invision Power Services) which was a database error. The important thing is that it's fixed now and although it seems like it's going to cost a fortune, hopefully it doesn't happen again ;)

  13. I don't think I'd be able to cope without it, lol. From the first time I used a computer I've had the internet. When I got my first computer I got the internet with it.I think computers are pointless without it too, there's nothing to do on them, I don't bother with the computer when my ISP is down.Wireless is also something I'm using alot now and even without wi-fi I'd still be a bit bored.

  14. I'm having a problem with my display picture on Live Messenger.

Everytime I log off and then log back on, it changes back to one I don't use anymore (what's in my avatar).

What I normally have is this

    Posted Image

    (LOL)

but it changes back to the LOL one all the time. It's really annoying.

It also does it to my brother, he has some funny gnome on it and it changes back to that duck that comes with it.

So does anyone know why it does it and how to fix it?

  15. Provided this is what you mean, yes.So I gather you've stored everything in a database and using PHP to get a part of it and show it, just like a CMS?PHP is server side, it does everything on the server and then displays it to the user as normal HTML, which if a search engine finds, it will show. If you're not using search engine friendly URLs though then it probably wouldn't find it since it's only picking up the index.php page.

  16. "Layouts" are easy to make, no matter what it's for.No one that makes them actually rushes them, people don't like and don't want rushed websites that are tacky with corners cut everywhere and uneven dimensions.I'm wanting to make a template site where I make and sell templates later on (probably Joomla templates).

  17. I think Jay should've gone through a few things for you, I suppose I'll do it.First of all, this is not a Habbo site, it has nothing to do with it. It's a site for people who want to put a bit of effort in to a post to get hosting. You NEED to read the rules, 1 line posts aren't allowed, and neither is spam. Stay on topic and post useful, non copied things.I suppose I'll answer your post, it's not the fansites getting hacked, it's their Cutenews, that's because cutenews is unsecure and their is an exploit using the search.php page.
