  1. PHP is better than ASP, the reasons you gave in the frist post are a bit ridiculous. To manipulate XML in both languages you have easy libraries.Variable manipulation is similar in both of them...The main difference between them (not including the sintax) is that you have to pay for using ASP, while PHP is free.
  2. I don't think violent games can change a normal person behaviour, maybe for a person ho tends to take everything to an extreme it could be a problem, but for those people a film of just an idea is so "dangerous" as a game. It's all a problem of the mind, if you can separate the real world from your gaming-fantasy world and asume that it's only a game and that you play for fun (you don't need the game) there's no problem. All the perturbed people that appear on the news because they killed somebody or something like that because they thougth they where inside a videogame or because they take the videogame out of the screen and into their lives, they will have done it with a videogame, a film, a card game or any other ting. They have a mental illness.PD: Sorry for my english :S
  3. You may try Gentoo PD: Better the amd64 version, in a laptop, with an ATI graphics card and an unsupported wifi card PD2: (That's sarcasm)
  4. Anyway I think he's not going to fix and recompile the program, and then reencode the songs just to change their name... Take it easy: man rn
  5. If you want to play games (full graphics performance) or have a full time server (http, ftp...) or client (emule, bittorrent...) running I prefer a desktop computer. If you just want it to work, you may need some mobility... I prefer a laptop :PIt's all on your needs: I have a laptop and a desktop computer, I need both of them
  6. Personaly I don't like them I think they're too big and the're not concordant with the style of the website...I prefer smaller and simpler ones
  7. You just have to do 2 things: 1. Give each NIC an IP address (ifconfig). 2. Configure the router's (Linux box) routing tables (route) Use the manual (man) if you need help with those commands. About the IP assingment, you have two options: use 5 IP addresses form your college (one for each NIC), or use 1 IP address from the college in the NIC that connects to their network and 4 private network IP addresses for the other NICs (for example 192.168.1.0/24). In the second case, you sould configure a NAT on the Linux box so those addresses could be translated when connecting to the outside.
  8. Try to reset the CMOS, it's usualy done by pluging the clear_cmos or reset_cmos jumper on the motherboard and turning on your computer for some seconds, after that the CMOS content will be replaced with the original one.Read your motherboard's user manual for more info, each one is different...
  9. Nice links wutske, anyway I don't get many BSoDs on Windows XP... in fact I don't remember any :S It would be nice for BSoD '98... ups!! Windows '98
  10. Are you sure? I think the size of the databese is added to your disk usage. At least it sould for security reasons...
  11. You can take a look at Gameforge games like OGame, Vendetta and others...I think you need to create something very addictive (like ogame) but completely different from other games. As pyost said, you have to innovate and have a unique idea. If I had one I'd do it myself
  12. @FirefoxRocks: TavoxPeru has just written an example HTTP redirects consists on sending (from the server) a HEADER to the client telling him that the page has changed it's location permanently or just temporaly and the URL to lacate it now. You can see some examples of how to redirect a webpage here: http://www.webconfs.com/154/301-redirects-how-to-redirect-your-website/
  13. I'm thinking about a Windows Vista user calling a "computer doctor":User: Doctor, I can only see an error screen on my Windows!!"Doctor": Is it blue or red?User: RED Doctor! It's the RED one!"Doctor": OMG... what about buying a new computer?

  15. Thank for your answers, I'll try to participate a bit more. Anyway I have a new question: how many credits do I need to get my account functional again? Do I need to do something to reactivate it or is it reactivated automatically? Thanks EDIT: Don't worry about that, I already found my answer:
  16. About the "evolution of programmers" image, I have to say that I saw a better one somewhere else, I'll try to find it out.Code evolution is absolutely brilliant :P :P
  17. It's not neccesary to declare a new function for doing such a simple operation, the code mentioned before has the same use: And it's sorter, so you will use less bandwidth.
  18. I think there has been an error with my account credits. 19. I agree with OpaQue, Adsense is too strict. My brother used my Adsense account in his web site and tryed to cheat. Then I lost all the legally earned money, so they stole my money! Now they don't let me reactivate my account again
  20. It looks nice, maybe it needs some improvement but it's cool . I'm going to sketch something up hehe
  21. This is a bit absurd, and has nothign to do with Google OS... Is there any non-virual OS? Is any OS phisical or tangible? Every computer program (and an OS is a computer program) is virtual. Windows Vista is not incredible at all... I've been using the final version ad it is just as windows XP, adding some Mac visual effects and using 780MB of memory just for playing a song on WMP and having 2 explorer windows opened...
  22. I agree with what you say about Google Docs and Spreadsheets, it could be considered as an other step to online user PC sessions. Anyway I think that it's implementation is far away from a perfect one, well but that's an other discussion...
  23. For me it's VLC, you can use it on Windows, Mac, Linux... it plays any audio/video file with an excelent quality. It has a minimalistic interface so its very easy to use, but it has thousands of features inside
  24. Peter Crouch's versatility has revolutioned english football. Winning Roland Garros with his curious touch: He even has time to go to classes: Beating Michael Jordan with flying habilities: He comes from a swiss family: Not many people know that he has a superhero inside... Many celebrities "tasted" his superpowers: He's famous for his double combos: A romantic dance with his couple: And now alone: :D:D:D:D
  25. A friend has a little problem and I don't know how to solve it. He has 2 ethernet cards on his PC, each one of them connected to a different router with different ADSL connections (quite strange, I know hehe). He want's to use one of the connections for p2p traffic and some downloads and the other one to surf the Internet, check his email and online gaming.I don't know how to route traffic trough the correct interface depending on that criteria... it would be easier if the inferface just depended on the destination IP, so he could configure it on the routing tables, but I have no idea about how to solve this problem...Any ideas? Maybe there is an easy-to-use program that can route the connection depending on the application that requested it...Thx
