Is the Universe's expansion rate slowing down or speeding up? I have always been taught that it was slowing down, but I read something in the New York Times that it was found about a year ago that it was actually speeding up. Up until a year or two ago, it was thought that the Universe's expansion rate was decreasing, due to gravity pulling back on the material exploding form the Big Bang. However, more recently, scientists have been able to measure how fast the Universe was expanding, and the data indicate that it is actually speeding up. This measurement was made by looking at distant supernovae. If distant supernovae are different in brightness than nearby supernovae (e.g. if there is more dust dimming the light than we think) then the measurement could be wrong. However, most astronomers think that the measurements are strong.

I agree with you when you say government will put larger restrictions on pollution. But to control it is very difficult and alomost impossible. Once the sea life starts depleting there is no way you can increase it. It is something easy to damage and hard to recover. Look at the other extint specis and we know how humanity failed to preserv the natural resorces. Many birds, animals like tiger cheetah and snakes as well as plants are being extint because of human intervantion. there is protection to these in many countries but this is really not helping. I want to be hopeful about seafood but I cant be realistically.

Need Help Diagnosing Cause Of My Computers Laggyness.
talktime replied to Chesso's topic in Hardware Workshop
Are you sure that your computer is is clean of spyware, junk, temperory internet files, adware etc? Also Check the cpu graph and RAM graph in task manager and see which processes are eating up more memory. Some times a corrupt program file can quietly run in the backround and eat up memory to slow your computer. As you said it was running quite well before I doubt its a hardware problem. It wont hurt testing your ram to see both modules are working. you can chek that in the Bios. Another way to speed up this is to de fragment your hard drive if it is more than 75% full. -
I think Especially in consumer market the technology will not move forward if its harmful. The above mentioned research is being done in the usa and at reputed instutute like Massachusetts Institute of Technology.Offcourse we will have to wait until we are sure that it is not harmful before we use it. Instead of using acoustic vibrations, they are trying ot use the resonance of electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic radiation includes radio waves, infrared and X-rays. which might be harmless range of frequencies.

US researchers have outlined a relatively simple system that could deliver power to devices such as laptop computers or MP3 players without wires. The concept exploits century-old physics and could work over distances of many metres. They are planning to use resonance to instagate power wirelessly to other devices. Resonance is a phenomenon that causes an object to vibrate when energy of a certain frequency is applied. The concept is to use resonance of electromagnetic waves. said the researcher Do you have anu thoughts on this ? this is definately a breakthrough concept. imagine all the devices in the room without wires to charge. wow!

I use to like Laptops because it is portable and easy to carry. Then my laptop went dead and I bought a desktop. I started liking desktop more because of it is upgradeable and cheap lives longer too. I still use it but then came the wireless networking and now I like laptop and desktop both. Desktop for easy upgrade and stuff while laptop for the mobility. If I am going to burger king or starbucks I can carry my laptop many places provide wireless connectivity and that’s why I like laptop. So after all it is important to know the end use before I can decide whether desktop is preferable or laptop. Thanksnote: laptop is a misnomer, you can call it notebook computer. all the notebeook makers reccommend not placing notebook computer on your lap because it gets too hot.

During april 2006 Republican-controlled House Energy and Commerce subcommittee denied a proposal that would have levied extensive regulations on broadband providers and forcibly prevented them from offering higher-speed video services to partners or affiliates. By an 8-to-23 margin, the committee members rejected a Democratic-backed Net neutrality amendment to a current piece of telecommunications legislation. The amendment had attracted support from companies including Amazon.com, eBay, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo. According to them such a change to the legislation was very critical. Now after the mid term election with the Democrat controlled senate There is a possibility that net nutrality amendment will be accepted.Net nutrality is definately benificial for consumers and i think they should pass the amendment.

A hurricane-like storm, two-thirds the diameter of Earth, is raging at Saturn's south pole, new images from Nasa's Cassini space probe reveal. Measuring 5,000 miles (8,000km) across, the storm is the first hurricane ever detected on a planet other than Earth. Scientists say the storm has the eye and eye-wall clouds characteristic of a hurricane and its winds are swirling clockwise at 350mph.do you have any new information/thoughts on this event?

Gmail: Simply The Best Comparations make it clear
talktime replied to herenvardo's topic in General Discussion
I like gmail. Only this I dont like about it is they go through your e mail find out key wors and post ads related you your message. I dont like the idea that some one is watching my e mails. Other than that gmail has very nice features. They do it because they have to compete with hotmail and yahoo. Hotmail and yahoo are already established. Google it trying to provide more to attract people towards them. I think it will be free for a long time because the compition is very strong. -
Symantec Announces Norton Antivirus 2006 new version
talktime replied to Moody's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I dont like Norton Antivirus because it is vely bulky slow and consumes a lot of time loading. Also its one of the costlier one. I also dont like Macfee for similar reasons. I had a good experience with CA Internet security suite. I would not be too interested in Norton's new version. thanks for the info any way.
