  1. I do not understand what is so great about doing these mentos experiments. It lasts for what, about 5-10 seconds? I am sure that carbonated beverage companies are loving the profits that people are giving them to do these experiments. I never even heard of this until about 5 months ago. Now, it seems like the coolest thing to do.I've watched a couple of people try it out, but it really becomes old after watching it a few times. I just wish someone could give a good scientific explanation of what happens. That way people will know what happens when they do whatever and the current fad will be over. :-)Have a great day everyone!
  2. It really is a good site. I think the misses would like it. She can use free templates that they have. All she has to do is click on one and it will apply it to the whole journal. :-) Also, they show yearly visit reports. I can tell you how many visits I have had to my journal all year. It gives you a daily average of visits, as well as an average of comments. :-) Enjoy!Have a great day everyone!
  3. I'm having a similar problem. The connection keeps timing out around 30 seconds. I copy and pasted what austin had above, inserted my information, but I had no luck. I created my hosting account about 3 weeks ago. Help? Thanks!
  4. I have found Easyjournal to be a very cool blogging site. I thought I would pass along the link. http://www.easyjournal.com/ Here's what they say about themselves. :-) Easyjournal is sincerely free; that is not a joke. There is a paid version of Easyjournal though. The only difference between the paid version and the free version is: there aren't any advertisements, you can host public comment forums, create your own journal templates, and upload & store images. The subscription is paid in increments of either 6 or 12 months. I have experienced a free Easyjournal for over 3 years. :-) I use Easyjournal to record the daily events I go through in case I ever want to publish an autobiography. You can passcode your account to keep out people you don't want in. You can also send out an e-mail to your friends when you update with one click. You can receive and post comments on people's journals. There is also a private messaging system via Easyjournal. :-) I would suggest you check it out. :-) I don't work for Easyjournal or blah blah blah or anyone related. I am just a happy user. :-)
  5. Rebates are great things. So, how does Zone Alarm and K9 security compare to Spybot - Search & Destroy, Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal, Windows Antispyware, Windows Firewall, Norton Antivirus, Bazooka? If you don't know, that's okay...just wondering. :-)Have a great day everyone!
  6. HP had a battery recall I think about a year ago. I forget if the battery just overheated a lot, or they did explode. I have the memory of a goldfish. :)I monitor the heat my laptop produces (including the battery) with a program my friend uploaded for me. When the heat sensor detects more than a certain temperature, it goes into like a "super cool down" mode. :DHave a great day everyone!
  7. Not a personal matter. Wherever the word "hacker" is used, the first thing that comes to mind is usually something associated with: virus, spyware, keyloggers, crashing of computers, data loss, stealing programs, and the like. I do understand your point though. Learning new programming languages and how things work is a wonderful thing. One of my best friends has been recently hired by NASA to work with their computers. He's a genius with computers, but he does not do any harm. You have those people though who learn about programming languages, and the like, just to make a virus and destroy the information on a complete stranger's computer. If they do not destroy computers, they steal programs and the like because they do not feel as if they need to pay for what they use. Those are the irresponsible, immature, idiotic (yay for alliterations!) people who have nothing else better to do. I call honest people (those who do not destroy/steal information-but learn for the fact of improving upon technology) who are really keen with computers, just that, honest people. That's my view on it if people agree with me or not. Have a great day everyone!
  8. Okay sparkx, retract the claws. That was my reply to your previous post where you said: Sorry that I did not outline that for you. Have an awesome day everyone! :-)
  9. Nice setup Kyro! I am behind Cisco Clean Access. The university has that set up and it scans everything for viruses and the like. That thing is like the god of firewalls. (LOL) Plus, we are on an internal type network that nothing but students and university people can access.I usually never find anything on those scans when I'm connected to the internet via the university. I will look into what you said about those other programs. They look pretty slick. :-) Thanks!Have an awesome day everyone!
  10. There are two parts to my charger. 1- Plug to charger box2- Charger box to computerI guess the box is a power converter or something of some type. I am getting power to the box and the charger end that plugs into the laptop.I have no clue how much it costs to go clubbing. (LOL) I live a sheltered life. :-)
  11. I love my laptop because it is basically a mobile desktop.I have a HP Pavilion zx5000.Intel Pentium 4Windows XP Home EditionATI Mobility Radeon 92003 USB ports5-in-1 Digital media portEthernet/modem connectionWireless Internet17' WidescreenHarman/Kardon speakersSoundMAX...as well as a lot of other stuff. :PThe Cons:~My battery life after 2-3 years is about 45 minutes to an hour. (Less when running more complicated programs like Bryce 5)~The cooling fans run ALL the time...that really is all I can think of. I gave you the specifics of my laptop because it is considered by most as a desktop on wheels. Blessings on finding your perfect computer!Have a great day everyone!
  12. I am in college and I use my laptop every single hour of the day (except those oh so few hours of sleep). I might call HP and ask them how long they think it would take to fix it. If it would take a couple of days, then I would send it over the upcoming Thanksgiving break. If it took longer than that, I would have to wait until Christmas. >_<I know I would get charged a lot because there was only a one year warranty. That creates a problem because college sucked up all my money. (LOL)If there's any more suggestions/comments/etc at all, send them my way. Thanks for all your help!Have a great day everyone!
  13. I have a HP Pavilion laptop. I bought it about 2-3 years ago. I try to plug in the charger end to my laptop and it does not start charging. I can take the back off of it, plug the charger in, and it works fine. I think that something is pushing back (in the laptop) and causing the connections not to touch. I would fix it myself, but I would have to take a lot of my laptop apart just to fix it. I do not feel comfortable doing that myself. My questions are: What is your suggestion to fix this?Has anyone else experienced this problem? If I took it to someone, how long do you think it would take for them to fix it (given that I am right)? If I took it to someone, how much money do you think I would have to pay? Thanks for all your help!Have a great day everyone!
  14. Hackers are people who have nothing better to do.

Spybot - Search & DestroyLavasoft Ad-Aware SE PersonalWindows AntispywareWindows FirewallNorton AntivirusBazookaCisco Clean AccessRegistry Mechanic (Not really antispyware/antivirus, but for those nasty ones that like to get in the registry!)You can tell I have NO tolerance. :-)Have a great day everyone!
  16. I am a moderator for a children's forum and they think that l33t speak is all the rage. I am quite tired of seeing it, and so are the rest of the moderators. We got together one day and banned l33t because it became so out of hand. >_< The children hated it, but they eventually stopped using it so they could start using the forum again. :-)
  17. I do not own an Ipod, nor do I want to own one. Ipods are causing some people to become deaf because they do not know what a volume switch is. A lot of earwax is a good sign that the ears are trying to preserve the hearing. Earwax serves a similar purpose as sunglasses, both try to protect by offering a shield. That is all earwax really is, a shield. Anyways, if a person does control their volume, listening to an Ipod for an extended amount of time (even on a low volume) still does damage to the ears. The sense of smell, taste, and vision all involve chemical reactions. Hearing is based solely on physical movement. When something vibrates, it causes the air particles to move. Different sounds are heard from different vibrating objects because of variations in frequency. Amplitude allows for the volume in hearing. I do not really know how to properly explain from here, so it would be better for you to research on your own. :-) An amplified rock band is around 120dB. Your ears can stand 120dB for about 15 minutes. So, imagine the Ipod at a loud volume. Thank you for listening to my babbling. :-) Have a great day everyone!
  18. I was addicted to a game a few years ago...the Sims. When the Sims2 came out, I was just as addicted. Like other people has said though, your body still tells you "hey stupid, go to the bathroom" or "i will eat you inside out if you don't feed me". I wonder if the guy was in good health though. Usually game manuals say somewhere to check with your doctor first to see if the game is suitable for you. Does anyone do that (minus maybe people with epileptic seizures)? Most likely not.My boyfriend plays FFXI online and I laugh every single time he logs on because there is this little message that says something to the effect of: There is a life outside of FFXI. Do not neglect your friends and family. It is a lot longer than that, but that is the general idea.I feel sorry for the guy because he died, but I find it kind of amazing that he would not think about himself in the way of his needs.
  19. I have Window Blinds. I have my login screen saying "Social Security Database". I like it when people ask me questions like, "Do you REALLY have access to it?!" If they are a person I like, I tell them that it is just a fancy image. If I don't like them, I make them believe that I know as much as the government does about things. (LOL) It is really hilarious to see the look on their faces. It is true though, the login screen is only up for a little while on most machines. Mine is up whenever I am not using it. I hit Function + F6 on my laptop to send it to the login screen because when I am finished, you have to type a password to my account to do anything. The login screen actually does see many hours on my laptop. I am very paranoid about my roommate whom I do not trust with my stuff in the least. I also like the "fade out" thing I can do to the password box where you actually have to study the screen to see where the password box is. Once you find it though, it highlights itself. I love it! :-)
  20. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This is a comparison chart of everything they offer. I don't have it, but it seems like a good thing. :-)
  21. Thumbs way up for Firefox!!! Tabbed browsing saved my computer from freezing. Instead of loading many different Internet Explorer windows, and it killing my RAM, I just load up one Firefox Window and it is just amazing! My toolbar is a lot more organized too! It was a real bother to have to click through all the Internet Explorer buttons to find the one article I needed at the moment. I love the extensions that come with Firefox. I would post more about the beauty of Firefox, but I have to work on a huge english paper due tomorrow. Wish me many blessings on my paper! :-)Have a great day everyone!
  22. I agree with most of everything that has been said here about the whole Windows Genuine Advantage thing. This is just Microsoft making sure that all the money in the world goes into their pocket. My roommate had computer problems about a year after she bought it. She took it to someone who was a "certified" Windows person whoever. This person wiped her laptop and put a new Windows on it. Her laptop was fine until she brought it to college with her. Our university requires you to download a program called Cisco Clean Access. Here's what they say about themselves (Cisco Network Admission Control): Here's a link if you want to know more: <a href="http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/index.html Network Home Page</a> Sorry about the huge quote, just thought you would better understand what I am talking about. Anyways, she downloads the updated version of Cisco Clean Access. She runs the program, updates her antivirus software, clicks the "update Windows" button, her browser window pops up, and Windows tells her that her version is not genuine. She freaks out. She asks me what to do. I look on the bottom of her computer, write down the Windows product key, type it in on the Windows site, and it says that it is an invalid key. I told her that if the key on the underside of her laptop did not work, that she was screwed over. The person did not give her the copy of Windows they installed on her computer or anything. I feel kind of sorry for her, but not really because she should have taken it to the store she bought it from. She learned that lesson the hard way. In summary, Windows Genuine Advantage is just Microsoft whining because they are not smart enough to protect their operating systems from being hacked. :-) Have a great day everyone! Sorry about the link not working! I guess you can just copy/paste it! :-) Have a great day everyone!
